ARE YOU CHRISTIANS REALLY A MINORITY IN NIGERIA?

Christians of Northern Nigeria who are in majority
Christians of Northern Nigeria who are in majority

“Tinubu, Dogara and the Prison and Poison of Religious Politics”

The two most disadvantaged groups in Nigeria’s representational politics are northern Christians and Southern Muslims. In Nigeria’s internal geopolitics, these two groups are structurally invisible, politically subjugated, and told to be content with their political and symbolic marginality”.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a Muslim from Osun/Lagos states, and Yakubu Dogara, a northern Christian from Bauchi State, embody this phenomenon eloquently. “Good” Northern Christians are thought to be those who subordinate their Religious Identity. In some meetings in the North some Christians don’t mention Jesus while praying just to please their Muslim friends. One thing with the Muslims in the North of Nigeria is that you can’t believe them hook line and sinker.

Nigerians do not understand the Northern Muslims. This group do not want to lose out. A Muslim from the South picking a Christian from the North as Vice President they believe they will lose out politically. Because they don’t even trust the Yoruba Muslim. They are the only true muslims, descendants of uthman Danfodio. Therefore it is either they are the President or they must deputise for whoever is President period. They convince you and everyone else that they have the numbers to make that happen.

The century long Propaganda by the colonial Masters and the Muslim Northeners who control the media in the North made the world to believe Christians in the North are insignificant, maybe 95% muslims to 5% Christians. The Nigerians in the South and middle belt have believed this. Many Southerners never believed there were indigenous Christians from Borno State until the Chibok girls Kidnapped were 90% Christians, indigenous to Chibok in Borno State.

Population statistics in the North of Nigeria.

NORTHERN  CHRISTIAN.

1) North East:

Adamawa state is 60 percent Christian. Taraba State is 70 percent Christian (The muslims here fear the Christianswho do not take any disrespectly lying down). Gombe State is 40 percent Christian (It could be more). Borno State is 30 Percent Christian. Bauchi State is 20 Percent Christian. Yobe state is 20 percent Christian (it could be more).

2)North Central:

Benue is 95% percent Christian. Plateau State is 90 percent Christian. Nasarawa state: The two largest ethnic groups are: Eggon the largest ethnic group is 80 percent Christian, Mada is 90 percent Christian, is 65 percent Christian. Nassarawa has alot of animists even in LGAs near Abuja the FCT. Kogi state is 60 percent Christian: Igala is 70 percent Christian, Okun is almost 100 percent Christians while in Ibira Land Christians are 30 percent. Kwara: Christians are 40 percent(it could be more). Niger: 40 percent Christian (High number of animists in Niger especially among the Dukawa People in Rijau LGA of Niger State).

North West:

Kano: 10 percent Christian (It could be more with a very high population of igbos who have been part of the driving force of commerce there for decades). Katsina is 20 percent Christian (Christians could be up to 40% in Katsina, many indigenous Hausas in Katsina call Maguzawa are Christians). Sokoto is 5 percent Christian. Zamfara is 20 percent Christian. Kebbi state is 30 percent Christian (High number of animists & Idol Worshippers ecist in Kebbi especially among the Zuru and Dukawa people in Shanga LGA and around Yauri). Kaduna state is 55 percent Christian (this population has been systematically thinned out under the watchful eyes of El-rufai).

Many villages in the Northern parts of Nigeria are predominantly Christian or animists (why do you think there have been incessant attack in the north west the past 8 years?). Yes the big cities are overrun with muslims but the hinterland harbours a remnant of christianity. Many big Mosques are empty in the villages, nobody prays inside. Usually only the village head and his family are Muslims under the payroll of Government but the others are christian or animists.  When you ask some of the villagers they say the Muslims came from Government house through their traditional ruler and built the mosque believing one day all the villagers will convert to Islam and worship in the mosque. That is why they built the mosque and you a stranger will think the entire village are Muslims.

The Middlebelt is not less than 50m People. If Kaduna alone can have about 3 million Christians by 2006 census according to LGAs, the entire northern Nigeria should have not less than 60m Christians.

WHY IS THE NORTHERN CHRISTAIN SILENT?

1) Wrong Training:

A Northern Christian boy is trained to be quiet, while a Northern Muslim boy is trained to speak out from Quranic school. With the whip the Mallam makes the silent one talk,be bold and tough . Many northern Christians are made to believe there is honour and dignity in keeping quiet while injustice glares you in the face.

2) Fear:

Many Northern Christians ask you to keep a low profile and be silent , don’t put your family in danger.

 3) Timidity:

You have to respect Government even in injustice. Northern Christians believe Government can not be spoken against even when they are wrong. The Bible says Pray for Government.

4) Many Northern Christians are selfish:

They are self centered and if they can provide for their families,  everybody else should go to hell.

5) Inferiority Complex:

Northern Christians, for centuries have been marginalised and persecuted by Northern Muslims therefore inferiority complex has set in. Many feel they can not aspire for anything in life without the help of a Muslim.

6) Northern Christian Elders and politicians have not helped matters:

The youth look up to them for direction but never get a clear directive.

7) Northern Christians have a Slave Mentality:

Many see the Northern Muslim as a superior specie since he strolls about with confidence even in a foreign land.

Christians as a whole in Nigeria appear to be unnecessarily afraid and weak. Prayers and actions must go hand in hand. They must step forward, speak their minds and stand for their rights or die second class citizens in their own nation. They must have one voice or perish. The church leadership has failed but has one last chance to be bold.

IT’S YOUR HERITAGE TO KNOW HIS WILL

And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth (Acts 22:14).

Our opening verse was a message addressed to Saul of Tarsus, who was later known as Paul. The Lord had sent Ananias, a disciple at Damascus, to lay hands on him and also to tell him that he’d been chosen to know the will of God. What a message!

Not everyone knows the will of God, yet it’s the most important thing in life. To please Him, you first have toknow His will. Only when you know His will can you begin to fulfil it and live accordingly. That’s why, as a child of God, the first and most important thing you have to do isto discover what God’s plan is: What’s He saying to you now, and what does He want you to do?

You may ask, “Is it really possible to know the will of God? Can one actually know His will?” Absolutely! Read Ephesians 1:9; it says, “Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself.” Jesus said, “…it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven…” (Matthew 13:11). It’s your heritage to know the will of the Father.

In Colossians 1:9, the Lord also expressed His desire for you to “…be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” You know His will from studying His Word. God’s Word is the revelation of His will.

As you study the Word, the Father’s heart—His thoughts, plans and purposes are unveiled to you. His light will dawn in your heart as truth unveils. Then you understand God’s way of thinking and are synchronized with Him.

PRAYER:

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the enlightenment that has come to my spirit through your Word. As I meditate on the Word, and fellowship with the Spirit, my spirit is enlightened and I have insight into mysteries and secrets. I’m guided by your wisdom to fulfil my glorious call in Christ, for your glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

1 Corinthians 2:9-12
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Colossians 1:9-10
For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Luke 8:10
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

Ogun arrests killers of Fatinoye couple and their only son; driver reveals why he arranged for them to be k!lled

Operatives of the Ogun State police command have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of former CBN staff, Kehinde Fatinoye, his wife Bukola and their only son, Oreoluwa Fatinoye, at their residence in the Ibara area of Abeokuta, Ogun State on December 31, 2022.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the suspects, Lekan Adekanbi a.k.a Koroba, Ahmed Odetola a.k.a Akamo and Waheed Adeniji a.k.a Koffi, were all arrested following painstaking intelligence-based investigation embarked upon by men of the Command.

”Upon the report of the dastardly act, the Commissioner of Police directed the Homicide section of the State criminal investigation Department to take over the case and ensure that the culprits were brought to justice.

In the course of investigation, one Lekan Adekanbi, a driver to the deceased family, was arrested based on circumstantial evidence, while investigation continues.

The arrested suspect Lekan Adekanbi suddenly collapsed in the cell on the 2nd of January 2023, and he was rushed to the hospital for medical care. But while in the hospital receiving treatment, he suddenly jumped from the bed and escaped through the fence of the hospital.

His escape further confirmed the police suspicion of his involvement in the case. There and then, the Commissioner of Police ordered the State anti kidnapping unit to join forces with the homicide unit in order to get the escaped driver and his accomplices arrested.

The two teams, in compliance with the CP?s directive, embarked on technical and intelligence driven investigation and traced the movement of the suspect to his elder brother in Iseyin, Oyo State, but he had left the place before the arrival of the police.

The teams further intensified their efforts which yielded positive results, when Lekan Adekanbi was apprehended

Why is APC, Tinubu against currency swap? – CSO ask Nigerians

0
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the INEC President Elect of Nigeria
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the INEC President Elect of Nigeria

A public policy think tank, the NEO AFRICANA CENTRE, has queried why only the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu is up against the new currency swap initiated and implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The Agency simply identified as Center is alleging that the reason Tinubu is kicking against the new policy is simply because he has stored monies he intends to use to induce electorates, buy votes and rig the forthcoming 2023 presidential election. “Those resisting the Naira swap policy are individuals and institutions that have stockpiled Naira notes for purposes that will not serve the interest of the public”.

The Center stated this on Friday in a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs, Jenkins Udu and made available to our correspondent. Udu in the statement called on Nigerians not to be deceived by the antics of those who have masked their real motives while pretending to have the interest of the people at heart. According to him: “We note with satisfaction that well meaning Nigerians have welcomed the policy and have urged the people to bear with the government as the present state of affairs is only temporary. “It is indeed curious that while other leading presidential candidates have accepted the policy, only the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu, is up in arms against it. So, why is Tinubu and his APC incensed over the policy? This question should agitate the minds of Nigerians”, he asked?

The Centre said however, while it is worried about the scarcity of both the old and new Naira notes, it is important to situate the issue properly so that Nigerians can know what the real problem is. He continued: “The plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to deploy stupendous amounts of cash for vote-buying, a plan which has been frustrated by the currency swap, is responsible for the ongoing crisis of confidence over the real intentions of the government on the policy. “While the government has stopped at nothing to explain the rationale for the action, contrary forces massed up within the APC have deployed falsehood and propaganda to make the new policy look punitive. “We are curious that it is only the APC, among the leading political parties, that is raising eyebrows on the matter.

“We are fully aware of the antics of some bigwigs, particularly of the APC political family, over the currency swap policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria. A monetary policy that aims at sanitizing the financial sector of our economy is being made to look like a punitive action directed at the well-being and living conditions of Nigerians. “The naysayers have stopped at nothing to arm-twist the government with the aim of getting it to back out of the well intentioned policy. Some have even resorted to litigation as a way of forcing the hands of the government. We find this distasteful and unacceptable.

“For us, it is a patriotic duty to alert Nigerians to the real intentions of those resisting the currency swap. They are currency racketeers who have stockpiled humongous amounts of money for the forthcoming general elections. The new policy has, it were, frustrated their plan to deploy the huge cash they have stockpiled for the elections. “Nigerians should therefore shun them like a plague as their actions are purely self-serving. “We urge the people not to be deceived by the claim that the court action instituted by some APC governors led by Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State is in the interest of Nigerians. “It is not. Rather, it serves only the narrow, selfish interest of the APC and its presidential candidate”, the statement said.

WHERE IS IT IN THE BIBLE? – Rev Fr. John Oluoma Replies Dr D. k. Olukoya of MFM

1
Rev. Fr. Oluoma Chinenye John – Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja
Rev. Fr. Oluoma Chinenye John – Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja

I wanted to pretend I didn’t read about the G.O. who said ‘Christmas’ is not in the Bible and so shouldn’t be celebrated. It’s the same funny mentality of those who confuse terminology with theology. Easter as a term is not in the Bible but we celebrate Easter because it’s an event and a mystery recorded in scripture. Same with Christmas, it’s not the term or calendar date we celebrate but the event and mystery.

One day now someone will wake up tipsy on ‘anointing’ and tell me to tell him why I call myself a Catholic since that term doesn’t exist in the Bible. Same folly can be extended to all churches because no church has a name that’s used as a group of church members in the Bible.

A Pentecostal church that says it doesn’t celebrate Christmas because the term doesn’t exist in the Bible but calls itself a Pentecostal church is just a comic contradiction. Pentecost means 50th day, it was an agricultural feast that had nothing to do with the Holy Spirit until that particular year that the Holy Spirit fell on the apostles in Acts 2.

Even after that there is no record in scripture that the Holy Spirit fell on other people on Pentecost day. If I wanted to be ‘an anointed IDIOT'(emphasis mine), I would have been going round condemning Christians who identify as Pentecostals, quizzing them to show me where it’s in the Bible that a group of believers were referred to as Pentecostals or to prove to me where any group of Christians celebrated Pentecost in the Bible. Yet common sense dictates that it’s neither terminology nor semantics we identify as Pentecostal but the reality and mystery of the Holy Spirit.

Whoever adjectivised SENSE with COMMON hasn’t experienced this generation of WHERE IS IT IN THE BIBLE intoxicated Christians, common sense is very rare. The Bible is not a dictionary or history book, it’s more of a theology than terminology. When you want to use the Bible to validate or invalidate any religious practice, you look for the biblical theology about it, not the terminology.

Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, Children’s Day, etc are not in the Bible, but the Bible doesn’t have anything against their celebration. It’s only a religious ignoramus that will condemn those celebrations and get pious zombies to follow suit. If you care to know, there are many things we do in life that are not in the Bible and God isn’t angry at them all.

Traditional marriages, village meetings, cross over vigils (please ‘show me where it’s in the Bible’ folks who are addicted to 31st December Cross over vigil don’t even know it’s not in the Bible in their sense), birthday parties, wedding anniversaries etc are not in the Bible. Dr Olukoya, do you celebrate all these events?

Finally, someone needs to tell Dr Olukoya that MFM has a football club, I’ve been searching for it in the Bible and couldn’t find, abi no be MFM get that football club? Some nonsense must stop this 2022 oh, let me come and be going!

HOW INEC HAS RIGGED THE FEBRUARY 25 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN FAVOR OF ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR: What will be the Response of the Nigerian Masses?

0
Nigerian INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu and the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar
Nigerian INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu and the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar

There are ten incontrovertible grounds to prove that the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) under the Fulani-born Prof Mahmood Yakubu has politically declared the ethnic kinsman of its Chairman, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the yet to be held February 25, 2023, Presidential election, in line with the institutional moral bankruptcy of the Fulani oligarchy, linked with their grave imperious disregard to constitutionality in and out of positions of authority.

The first ground is the October 2022 landmark Caliphate stakeholders meeting sponsored by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and held at his Dubai UAE residence which was chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto but was however represented by a proxy. In the said meeting which the INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu was summoned to appear in person, it was resolved that every man and woman with Fulani blood must ensure by every available means that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar becomes the President of Nigeria after Muhammadu Buhari.

Prof Mahmood Yakubu was specifically instructed to do everything both possible and impossible to declare Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the winner of the coming February 25, 2023, Presidential election even if it will take the spilling of more human blood to do it. Prof Mahmood Yakubu was further informed that his position of INEC Chairman was not primarily based on merit since there were better qualified Nigerians, but for the primary objective of ensuring that the Fulani retains the control of political power in Nigeria.

Nigerians should therefore consider Prof Mahmood Yakubu as Chairman of INEC for the fundamental objective of installing a Fulani President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not as an unbiased umpire.  This clandestine Fulani decision was recently affirmed in form of protest by the APC Vice Presidential candidate Alhaji Kashim Shettima before the Emir of Daura in Katsina State when he alleged that the Northern Fulani leaders are supporting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over him because he is a Kanuri and not a Fulani.

The second ground is Mamood Yakubu’s unscrupulous decision to replace University lecturers as election returning officers with his malleable members of staff who will not be in positions of authority to either question or alter his planned fixed election deals in favour of his ethnic kinsman Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. So far Prof Mahmood Abubakar has not informed Nigerians his reason for adopting his internal staff as the appropriate returning officers against the institutionally unbiased class of academic professionals, except to have a free hand to manipulate the Presidential election in favour of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The third ground is the current artificial difficulties created by INEC over the collection of PVCs which still persist a few weeks before the Presidential election. The irony of this INEC rigging plan is that these difficulties only exist in Southern Nigeria where the people are averse to the existing retrogressive Fulani leadership in Nigeria and for that reason will not vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. On the other hand, in the upper Northern States of Muslim Fulani, Hausa and other related groups, the same PVCs were distributed house to house to the people by INEC officials on the orders of the INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu. There has also been incontrovertible evidence of PVCs belonging to Igbo voters dumped in drainage pits. Yet Mamood Yakubu wants Nigerians to believe that the Presidential election is not already rigged in favour of his ethnic kinsman Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The fourth ground is the importation and registration as voters of foreign Fulani nationals from the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso and other ethnic Muslim elements from Chad and Niger Republics. The recent seizure of 6,216 PVCs and Nigerian national identity cards from these illegal Fulani aliens in the Northern States by men and officers of Nigeria Immigration Service is incontrovertible evidence of INEC collusion with Issah Pantami’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Technology to rig the coming Presidential election in favour of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu is yet to address Nigerians on the reason why his Commission found it easier to register non-Nigerians as voters and issued them with PVCs without difficulties but found it difficult to distribute the same PVCs to Nigerian voters in Southern Nigeria.

The fifth ground is INEC’s clear intent to manipulate the election results with faulty and inactive BVAS from the polling units through the ward, Local Government and State levels to the final national collation centre at Abuja in favour of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar through its appointed automated INEC Returning Officers. In fact, since the Returning officers will be INEC permanent staff whose daily bread depends on Mamood Yakubu the question of objection in the face of cases of manipulation of the results will be out of the way. This would not be the case if University academicians are in the same role. The cases of the Osun State Governorship election and the 2022 Kenya Presidential election are clear evidence that BVAS can easily be manipulated against the wishes of the voters.

The BVAS in line with this rigging intent are already clandestinely being distributed to the wrong locations outside the States they are officially assigned. An instance is the recent accidental discovery of about ten BVAS machines officially assigned to Northeast in Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Owa Oyibu community, which were quickly retrieved and transferred to Government House, Asaba. Mahmood Yakubu and his INEC are yet to arrest the culprits, comment on, or explain to Nigerians how BVAS machines meant for a Northeast State found their way to Governor Okowa’s town and later to his Government House.

The sixth ground is the secret and clandestine employment of foreign Private IT contractors as providers of Presidential result IT synchronizing platforms from where results will easily be manipulated in favour of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as in the case of the 2022 Kenya Presidential election when the Chairman of Kenya Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chibukati who clandestinely imported five Venezuelan IT specialists to manipulate the Presidential election result in favour of William Ruto against Raila Odinga.

What ignorant Nigerians fail to understand about this manipulation is that the BVAS only deals with accreditation. What happens afterwards between transmission and the final declaration of results has nothing to do with BVAS. Most Nigerians in their political timidity and acute ignorance fail to understand that results transmitted from polling centres do not go straight to the INEC internet server but are first transmitted to a private server owned by a private IT contractor or contractors charged with the responsibility of synchronizing the results.

Ordinary Nigerians are yet to be informed or educated by INEC on what synchronization of results means. In the recent Osun State Governorship election Nigerians were told there were two election results—one synchronized and the other unsynchronized. Who were the synchronized voters and who were the unsynchronized voters? All these IT technical terms boil down to INEC’s capability to manipulate election results at will and for the benefit of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Nigerians are yet to know who these private IT contractors with the powers to synchronize Nigerian voters out of their chosen candidates, are? This is where Dr Issah Pantami’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Technology are working hard to achieve Fulani’s objective.

The point is that Nigerians will overwhelmingly vote Mr Peter Obi for President and end up seeing their mandate criminally manipulated and changed by Mahmood Yakubu and Issah Pantami through their private IT service providers through this criminal process of synchronizing votes cast by Nigerian citizens. And once Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is declared the winner by this criminal act that would be the end of the election since the Supreme Court will not be able to overturn the Presidential results already declared by the election commission given Nigeria’s culture and history of the corrupt judicial system.

The seventh ground is the yet-to-be-resolved under-age voters willfully registered by the same INEC, an act that puts the Commission on the trough of criminality. Nigerians continue in their acute ignorance to live with the INEC Chairman’s lies that the presence of under-aged voters in the voters’ registers of Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Zamfara, Borno, Yobe, Sokoto and Kebbi States has been resolved. This is a capital and compound lie. The INEC Chairman in addition to failing to give Nigerians adequate explanations is yet to satisfactorily prove that the under-aged voters particularly from Kano State have been removed from the Voters list. Banking on the institutional political dementia of Nigerians, Mahmood Yakubu believes in his wildest imagination that the mere announcement that the underaged voters have been struck off the voters’ list is enough evidence to cover up his criminal rigging antics. Nigerians were only informed that the one million or so voters removed from the voters’ list were those found to have engaged in double registration and not child voters. The only functional reaction by the INEC Chairman on the subject of under-aged voters was to instruct Nigerians to leave their respective voting stations on the day of the election and travel to Kano and other Northern States to stop their child voters from voting. Beyond this kindergarten instruction, Mahmood Yakubu is yet to inform Nigerians how many under-aged voters were discovered respectively in Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina and, Kebbi States. If indeed they were struck off the voters register what are the final voter populations in these States? If Mahmood Yakubu is yet to be properly informed, any election held in these States without proper account of under-aged voters remains invalid in law. I want Nigerians to take note of this.

The eighth ground is the creation of artificial fuel scarcity in order to create difficulties for the people and by extension restrict people’s ability to travel, engage in their normal businesses and on the long run create voter apathy. What other excuse does Mamood Yakubu have to counter this obnoxious Fulani strategy to rig the Presidential election for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar if few weeks before the Presidential election Nigerians cannot buy fuel in their country which is not only a major oil exporting nation but has four Government refineries? Just think of this impunity in governance and tell me how long Nigerians will allow this imperial insanity to persist? Mahmood Yakubu is Fulani; Atiku Abubakar is Fulani; Muhammadu Buhari is Fulani; and the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Mele Kolo Kyari is Fulani, yet the Fulani do not produce oil in Nigeria.

The ninth ground is the unexpected creation of scarcity of Naira in circulation through the unscrupulous introduction of new notes. Bearing in mind that this is happening a few weeks before the Presidential election, does INEC think that any election held under the present circumstances would be deemed credible? Mahmood Yakubu should ask his Fulani kinsmen in authority with him how their bandit kinsmen in our forests were able to have early and easy access to the new naira currency notes while ordinary Nigerian citizens are sleeping in banks, some are dying and businesses are placed in a state of comatose?

The tenth and final ground is the persistent terrorism perpetrated by Fulani bandits, herdsmen and ISWAP under the protection of the Federal Government. A situation where Nigerian citizens continue to be kidnapped and murdered in cold blood by these people without proactive measures by the Federal Government to stop them can never provide a justifiable room for credible elections. Millions of Nigerians remain displaced from their ancestral homes by these foreign Fulani mercenaries hired with Nigeria’s petroleum resources and Nigerians still believe all is well with these so-called General elections.

The conclusion of the matter is that the result of February 25, 2023, Presidential election has already been declared with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the winner with the challenge of whatever daring consequences would emerge from Nigerians. Nigerians should therefore not expect any credible Presidential election result from Mahmood Yakubu’s INEC outside the planned declaration of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the winner of the February 25, 2023, Presidential election, even though the majority of Nigerian voters will overwhelmingly vote for the Labour Party Candidate Mr Peter Obi.

What should therefore be of paramount importance to Nigerians is what should be their reaction in the event of this planned daylight electoral robbery? Will Nigerians allow the coming impunity to stand? Will Nigerians allow themselves to be enslaved by another Fulani patron killer-herdsman, who will continue with the heinous protection of his blood-sucking killer-Fulani kinsmen, bearing in mind that the same Alhaji Atiku Abubakar celebrated the stoning of Deborah Samuel by his Fulani Muslim foot-soldiers?

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES, Friday, February 10th, 2023, HE SHARES HIS GLORY WITH US – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD. DSc DD

0

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one (John 17:22).

There are Christians who say God won’t share His glory with another. Some have said it for so long that they now believe it’s scriptural, but it’s not. They misunderstood what God said in Isaiah 42:8 and use it to buttress their position. There, the Lord said, “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

If you understand Isaiah’s prophetic ministry and his expressions, you’d understand that he portrays a dual communication of the same truth in most of his prophecies. For instance, what he refers to as “another” is also, spiritually, what he refers to as “graven images.”

You’ll observe the same thing in Isaiah 48:11 where the Lord says, “For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.” How’s God’s name polluted? It’s by mixing the worship of God with idolatry. Every time the Lord talked about not giving His glory to another, He was referring to idols, not human beings.

It was always God’s plan from the beginning to share His glory with human beings; He always wanted to do it. When He made man, He glorified man, but when man sinned, he fell short of the glory of God: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

It was sin that took the man out of the glory of God. But when Jesus came, He restored man to the glory of God: “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). This is the revelation and essence of Christianity.

We’re not trying to take glory from God; He gave us His glory. Every day of your life, thank Him that you’re in the glory. That’s what He’s given to you; and that’s what He’s made you: you’re the glory of God! Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
God’s glory is evident in my physical body, coursing through my being, ridding me of every infirmity, feebleness or weakness; it’s seen in my family, job, business, and all areas of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

2023 ELECTION: OBASANJO MEETS WITH ADC BOT AND GUBER CANDIDATE

OBASANJO MEETS WITH ADC BOT AND GUBER CANDIDATES

Nigeria looks forward to the conduct of the 2023 presidential election come 25th February, the national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has paid former President Olusegun Obasanjo a visit at his residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, South-west Nigeria. The team, led by the party’s national chairman, Ralph Nwosu; chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Mani Ibrahim; and members of the party’s National Working Committee and Guber candidates arrived in Abeokuta around 10: 30 a.m local time and headed straight into a meeting with the former president.

Speaking with the ADC stalwarts, Obasanjo disclosed that the global community, particularly the West African countries of Ghana, Togo and Cote d’Ivoire are seriously concerned about the outcome of the forthcoming general elections. Olusegun Obasanjo, who just returned from an official engagement in West Africa, urged Nigerians to strive toward giving their best and ensuring that the forthcoming general elections hold. The former leader explained that the attention of the global communities is focused on the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria and, therefore, Nigerians as main stakeholders should contribute toward the success of the polls.

‘As you rightly said, we are in a critical period in Nigeria. In less than 3 weeks, we will be going to the poll to elect our leaders who will pilot this country’s affairs for the next four years from May. I hope nothing intervenes. ‘I have been in Togo, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire from the beginning of the week and from there, they are concerned about what happens in Nigeria, as every Nigerian knows. ‘So, even for them, Nigeria’s elections are of utmost importance. ‘My belief is that for us, who are directly involved, we cannot take it any less important. Therefore, I understand why you are here,’ said the former president of Nigeria. After that, the team went into a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo.

Though details of Obasanjo’s meeting with the party’s stalwarts were not made known to the press, the Board of Trustees chairman, Mani, who addressed journalists, however, disclosed that the top echelon of ADC was in Abeokuta to take “instructions and advice” from Obasanjo, whom he said have never ceased to provide the necessary direction for them. ‘The party needed to effect “certain realignments” before approaching the February 25th presidential election, particularly on how to collaborate and pool strength together toward enabling us to work as a unified front for the election. ‘We have taken lots of guidance from him which has helped us in the past. ‘As we are all aware, not only the country but also our party can be considered to be at the crossroad.

‘When you are at the crossroad, it is important that you make the right decisions so that you move in the correct direction; that is part of the wider consultation that has brought the members of the Board of Trustees, the national working committee, some of the candidates of our party to have this discussion with His Excellency, President Obasanjo. “It is an ongoing process; the situation is still fluid, but we are hopeful that within the next 48 to 72 hours and through other series of meetings that we continue on this basis, we should be able to say clearly what the final decision is as to the direction our party is taking in the next general elections.

‘Mind you, this is one election in Nigeria that is going to be like none other like we have experienced in the past and as such, one cannot underrate the influence this type of discussion we have had today will bring to the outcome of the election at the end of the day. ‘We have not come to a definitive decision on that yet, but clearly, our party is looking at the possibility of coming up with an arrangement that will allow us to announce what type of collaboration we are going to have with any party, be it Labour Party or otherwise,’ said Mani, the ADC Board of Trustees chairman.

IS INEC NOT BIASED ALREADY?

Following Seun Kuti’s Tweet in which he referred to peter Obi as an opportunist, and INEC official Tweet handler going as far as liking it, FS Yusuf, tweeted as follows: “Dear @inecnigeria. Why is your handler liking this tweet where Peter Obi is attacked! What is this nonsense! Are we a joke to the commission!? Don’t set this nation aflame. @inecnigeria. This is a warning! We need to sue INEC for this misbehaviour!”

Unquote, this clearly shows how biased INEC under the chairmanship of Mammud is. But we will not relent until we take back our country from them. As for Seun Kuti, it saddens that the son of a freedom fighter who was very close to his father and closely nurtured by him (Fela Anikulapo Kuti), a man endowed with colossal musical prowess which he judiciously used in his freedom fighting, and understanding how his father suffered and died for the betterment of the common man, will make such a tweet.

I vividly remember in 1985 when as a child of about six, Seun Kuti was always one of the last performers before his legendary father climbs the stage to sing at the Shrine on Pepple street, Ikeja, Lagos. One would have expected him to have tapped on his father’s talent to become one of the greatest Afrobeat musicians given his close proximity with his legendary father but alas, musically, Seun Kuti is underperforming as an artist not even up to 10% of his father’s worldwide capacity and accolade yet he calls Peter Obi an opportunist when in reality, Seun Kuti is the real failed “Opportunist”

Protesters Hit Abuja Over S'Court Order On Old Naira

Some youths in Abuja on Wednesday, 8th of February 2023, protested the exparte order of the Supreme Court temporarily halting the move by the Federal Government to ban the use of the old naira notes beyond February 10, 2023.

The protesters, who converged on the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, passed a vote of confidence in the CBN urging them not to back down.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as, ‘Justice Ariwoola, resist plot to use our Supreme Court to undermine democracy,’ accused the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, of allegedly working for the interest of the All Progressives Congress, its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the G5 Governors.

THE ELECTION THIS MONTH – A WATERSHED FOR THE RESCUE OF NIGERIA

A cross-section of World Igbo Congress Members

WORLD IGBO CONGRESS CALLS ON ALL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF NIGERIA TO RISE UP AND RECLAIM THEIR FREEDOM; ENDORSES THE LABOR PARTY NATIONAL MOVEMENT.

We have now arrived at the watershed of Nigeria’s checkered history. The presidential election comes up in less than three weeks. We will either cross or sink. We will either make or break. We will either build a nation of our dreams or devolve into our respective entities. We will be at the point of crossing the Rubicon which will lead us to a point of no return. We will either have a viable nation or we allow the indigenous ethnic nationalities to determine their own future.

World Igbo Congress has stoically participated in awareness creation and studied the cataclysmic terrain called Nigerian politics and call on all patriots to rise up and defend what they hold true: That Nigeria comprises indigenous ethnic nationalities who must have a say on how they are governed.

At an extraordinary meeting of the hierarchy of the Diaspora organization, the following specific issues were considered:

  1. A touch of history
  2. The standing, the manifesto and the prospects of each of the 18 registered political parties.
  3. Taking the bull by the horn
  4. A note of warning to troublemakers.
  5. Call to action

A touch of History

Nigeria came into existence as a child of convenience to serve British economic interests. The area called Nigeria has been ancestral home to hundreds of indigenous ethnic nationalities. As a consequence of the amalgamation of the British Southern and Northern protectorates in 1914, the British reached some uncanny understanding with the north resulting in the lopsided political and military setup that gave the north a feeling of ownership of Nigeria. To them (and evidence is properly documented) Nigeria is their inheritance, which fuels the desire for “power to always remain in the north”. The clique that has this syndrome has seized every opportunity to rub this in and is determined to keep it so. Boko Haram, the gun-toting herdsmen, the so-called repented Boko Haram in the military and police, bandits and unknown gunmen are all modern instruments of coercion for these narrow-minded Nigerians. Their objective is not for the development of Nigeria, harnessing the vast resources of Nigeria to provide health care, education, employment or well-being to the over 200 million Nigerians. At every turn, they plunder, pillage, loot, kill, rape, maim, steal the commonwealth and leave the place insecure and devastated. They have fought against every attempt at true constitutional reform and restructuring for equity, justice and fair play. They have jettisoned the rule of law and freedom of worship. For Nigeria to survive beyond this election, the populace must look at the political parties critically so as to determine which of them has the political will to deliver Nigeria to the promised land.

It is against this backdrop that we evaluated the 18 political parties to determine their sincerity of purpose.

The standing, the manifesto and the prospects of each of the eighteen registered political parties.

For purposes of brevity, this statement will consider conclusions based on the viability of the parties. Only three of the parties appear to have the chance of lifting the trophy and will, therefore, be further evaluated. The parties are the All-Progressive Congress (APC) led by senile Bola Asiwaju Tinubu and his reportedly Boko Haram-loving running mate Kashim Shettima, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by the oft-investigated Abubakar Atiku and his running mate Chukwuma Okowa and the Labor Party (LP) led by Peter Obi and his running mate, Dr Datti Baba Ahmed.

From all indices, the APC and the PDP are two sides of the same coin. They have proven since 1999 to be elitist parties that take turns in the catastrophic misrule of Nigeria. They have rendered the country comatose. They are still fomenting the agelong religious bigotry and born-to-rule syndrome and are not showing signs of letting up. If any of them is voted into power, it will be one term too many and a straw on the camel’s back for this entity called Nigeria. The Labor Party, on the other hand, appears to provide a breath of fresh air. It appears to bring back hope and has all the potential to put in place the right policies to bring about the birth of a new Nigeria that will work for the masses and not the elite. The LP and its flagbearers bring to the table a sincerity of purpose that promises to catapult Nigeria to its pride of place in the comity of nations.

Nigeria is on the brink. It is standing on the precipice and needs some Marshall plan to rescue it from disintegrating at the seams. The LP appears to have a manifesto and sincerity of purpose that are akin to the Marshall plan. This is the reason it has become a national movement poised to work for the people, rescue democracy and enthrone the rule of law.

Taking the bull by the horn

During the build-up to the 1960 independence, it was not easy to carry the north along as the east and the west pushed for independence. They declared they were not ready. This was the origin of regional governance which worked fairly well till the 1966 coup d’état. The coup gave rise to a unitary government that was survived by a number of military governments and a few quasi-democratic experiments. Since 1999, the military decrees morphed into a constitution that has made a mockery of democracy and must be changed for Nigeria to survive. This excuse of a democratic constitution is responsible for the lopsided appointments, extreme nepotism and the rudderless sail of the Nigerian ship of state. The hundreds of ethnic nationalities in Nigeria must wise up to this fact and, therefore, see this election as a case of to-be- or-not-to-be. They must take the bull by the horn to ensure election integrity and that the winner is allowed to govern and save Nigeria.

From all indications, the national movement called LP appears ready to win and the ethnic nationalities must be ready to ensure that all votes are counted and all efforts to scuttle the election must be thwarted. We owe that much to our existence and survival. We, therefore, call on all patriotic Nigerians, every ethnic group whose land and freedom are under threat and under the fear of not being sure of life in any given minute due to atrocities of wanton killing, raping, kidnapping, etc.; every student who currently has no hope of securing a job or graduate who has been roaming the streets after graduation, the teeming populations of Nigerians who have no hope the next meal to rise up in unison and vote for the Labor Party’s national movement symbolized by Peter Obi and Dr Datti Baba Ahmed. World Igbo Congress wholeheartedly endorses this movement for a better Nigeria

A note of warning to troublemakers.

It has come to our attention that troublemakers are on the prowl once again seeking to exacerbate the already frayed nerves and tension needed to throw a monkey wrench in the works. They are beginning to throw incendiaries, personal attacks and unsubstantiated vituperations that are entirely bereft of issues that will help Nigeria survive the impending conflagration. A case in point is the recent attack on the Labor Party and its flagbearers by Nasir El Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State. This man appears fixated and at the same time threatened by the surging Obi-Datti movement. His latest spurious statistic gave dataless numbers of 1%, here and 4% there as prospects of LP in the north. The illogical population numbers of gerrymandered local governments in Kano and elsewhere that he spewed out are exactly the problem with Nigeria. It was the same El Rufai who did not give Obi-Datti a chance for up to a 200-man crowd if he were to come to Kaduna. The same El Rufai falsely accused Peter Obi of ordering his arrest in Anambra when he was governor there. El Rufai represents the block with this born-to-rule syndrome that has perpetuated insecurity, commonwealth theft and impoverishment in Nigeria.

Another case in point is the broken English and vernacular-speaking Bola Tinubu who has a penchant for abusive language and unleashing of terror on innocent people in Lagos using his area boys and the reported militia. Tinubu must call his minions to order and stop delivering his incendiaries. World Igbo Congress warns these mischief makers to cease and desist from these shenanigans as Nigerians are ready to take back their country regardless. INEC owes it to every Nigerian to provide a level-playing field for all candidates. The reports of the inability of voters to collect their PVCs in certain areas while non-citizens and under-aged children have easy access to them in other parts are worrisome. The CBN must ensure that legitimate new versus old naira note exchanges are concluded in a timely manner while they plug all avenues of vote buying.

Call for action

World Igbo Congress has concluded that only the Labor Party movement, out of the three leading parties has the interest of Nigeria as a nation at heart and is endorsing it to achieve its objectives. World Igbo Congress calls on all Nigerians in the Diaspora who know what good governance is about and wish it for Nigeria to rise up and forestall any untoward strategies by the rogue powers in Nigeria to prevent ushering in a new Nigeria. You must encourage your wards in Nigeria to vote regardless of any stumbling blocks. Not voting means that one has surrendered to the business-as-usual syndrome, represented by Atiku and Tinubu. They must be vigilant to ensure election integrity. We stand by the recent pronouncement of the Southern and Middlebelt Leadership Forum on the subject matter in its entirety. We call on all law-abiding people of the Southeast to ensure that there is no sit-at-home in the zone that could potentially cripple the election process and throw that zone into the hands of their detractors just like it did during the last census that decimated the population of the Igbo. A sit-at-home will also negate the efforts to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. All Igbo and their sponsors who are sowing this seed of anarchy are hereby warned to cease and desist. On our part, we will bring to bear the attention of the international community to ensure that Nigeria gets it right this time around. May God bless you all.

THE CHATHAM HOUSE CONNECTION & PETER OBI’S BURDEN

0
The Presidential Candidate of the Nigerian Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and his Running Mate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed
The Presidential Candidate of the Nigerian Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and his Running Mate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed

Many Nigerians have been asking why the presidential candidates were all keen to go to London to face interviews in the Chatham House. Even those who would refuse to have a debate at home would travel to London. Why is it so important? The answer is plain. There is a deep connection between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Before we look at the spiritual dimensions let’s take a quick overview of the political and policy dimensions.

Nigeria as a country derives its existence from the United Kingdom. Without the UK there would be no Nigeria as a political entity. The direct implication of this is that the throne of Nigeria derives its powers from the throne of England. If the throne of England does not accept you then you are going to have an uphill task to get into the position of leadership as the president of Nigeria. This is not a question of political independence this is a question of spiritual power alignment. While Nigeria may have gained political independence, it does appear that the thrones are not independent yet. The presidential candidates of Nigeria thus have a duty to convince the throne of England. The “Shrine” where this takes place is called the Chatham House.

The Chatham House was created in 1920 as an independent (non-governmental) institution to study international affairs and set the agenda for nations. Soon the quality of its output began to direct the focus of British international policies. In 1953, Queen Elizabeth became a Patron of the Chatham House and was briefed/advised by the institute on all major international issues. It should be noted that the Nigerian Institute for International Affairs is an offshoot of Chatham House. It is one way Britain ensures that Nigeria stays in alignment.

Nigeria’s Presidential candidates go to Chatham House to share what their presidency would look like. They are grilled on what the impact would be on Africa and the world. The members of the House then look deeper to see how this aligns with Britain and how the British leadership should respond. They are not primarily concerned with who wins or loses, they are concerned with the British interests and how to protect that interests and maintain the balance of power. Bearing this in mind let us now take a below-the-surface view and see the spiritual connections and why this election is not just another regular election.

The West (Europe and America) see Nigeria as a viable market. All policies of these countries towards Nigeria and the rest of Africa have been to keep them in a position where they are subservient and supply the industries within their countries with raw materials while also becoming the major consumers of the final products of the industries. The reason is simple. Britain is barely 67 million in population, France is 68 million, and Germany is 83 million. These three European powers would combine to get the market size of Nigeria. It is in their best interest if Nigeria remains a consumer nation. If we have to buy our toothpicks, tissue paper, food, petrol, cars, etc from them, they will forever be ahead. If we are able to produce these things with the resources we have, then their industries will become redundant, and their unemployment rate will go up. This will evoke political unrest in their citizens prompting radical changes in government.

For a moment think of how many cars you need to transport Germany’s 83 million people and compare that with how many you need to transport Nigeria’s 220 million. Clearly, Nigeria needs more cars. Germany has functional railways. Nigeria does not. Nigerians will buy more cars than Germans. Germany produces cars and ships to Nigeria for as long as Nigeria does not have a car manufacturing plant. Germany will therefore do all it can to ensure that Innoson Motors fail and it will do so through the government in power. Think of how many Italian suits and shoes will be in Nigerian Churches this Sunday Morning. Think of how it will Italy if our clothes (including our Ankara) are manufactured in Nigeria. If you think this is just blabbing, Google and read the Wikileaks on Nigeria and see how multinationals in the country influence the legislation in order to sustain the power of their home countries.

The same scenario plays in our Oil industry. The Multinationals drill the oil, transport it to a country of their choice to refine and sell to us our own product at an exorbitant price. I am not sure there is one Nigerian shipping company that is big enough to move crude or refined products. Everything is controlled by other countries. It serves their interests and because our leadership is corrupt and needs their banks to hide their corruption, they are forced to play along. They have to kill the industries. That is what happened to the groundnut pyramids. That is what happened to the cotton industry. That is what happened to our rice. That is what happened to our palm oil, and tyre (rubber) industry. That is what happened to Ajaokuta Steel Project. That is what happened to our electricity. Our leaders know it, but corruption will not let any of them stand up and walk a different path.

Historically, any nation in the world that has coal became a superpower. Nigeria has coal. Any nation that has cement (limestone) became a superpower. Nigeria has. Every nation that has steel became a superpower. Nigeria has. This is the reason Nigeria is called a sleeping giant. Coal, cement and steel powered the industrial revolution. When the administration of Shehu Shagari turned to the Soviet Union in 1979 to build the steel project, the West became jittery. With steel, you can manufacture cars, guns and bullets and all major constructions from ships to bridges and skyscrapers rely on steel. With petroleum (a very cheap source of energy replacing coal) also then available to Nigeria, the nation will be unstoppable. America and the West could not bear to see that happen. The giant must be made to remain asleep.

Today the dynamics have changed. World power is now being determined by brain power. This is people power-driven by the youths. Nigeria is blessed again with it. We have the largest population of youths in Africa. If these youth’s resources are harnessed, Nigeria will become a superpower in less than two decades. Will this serve the West? No. This is the problem that Peter Obi has. On the surface, the Chatham diplomats will make him look good but because his presidency seems set to disrupt the status quo they will work against it. Recall David Cameroon and his “fantastically corrupt” comment on Nigeria under Buhari. Awake Nigeria and Nigerian youths. No country in the world cares for you, they only care about their interests.

The US National Intelligence Council predicted in their 2012 publication that, Nigeria’s window of opportunity will open in 2021 and stay open till 2050. The report said if Nigeria is able to reap its benefits from a youthful population, by 2030 it will treble the per capita income and lift 80 million people out of poverty. That is good news for us but bad news for the West. It does not take anything to see that the one thing that is required to achieve this is purposeful leadership that turns the focus away from government-powered corruption to people-powered production. This is best represented by Peter and Datti. They are the keys required for this window to open. Don’t be blinded by sentiments of religion and ethnicity.

It is important to point out as we close this that God in his wisdom took away Queen Elizabeth just before this election. Queen Elizabeth presided over the independence of Nigeria. She was most instrumental in the maintenance of the status quo. Under her watch, corruption flourished and the country degenerated. Her subjects advised Ahmadu Bello against pulling the North out of Nigeria as he wanted to. Her subjects oversaw the legislation and census that laid the precedence for the domination of the North in the political sphere. It was not accidental. It was a policy of the throne. How is it possible that only Nigeria in the entire sub-Sahel Africa has a different demographic pattern where the Sahara desert is more populated than the river banks of the South? People congregate near water bodies, not in deserts!

What has the throne of England done to stop the oppression of the indigenous peoples of Nigeria? What has the throne done to stop the religious massacre of Christians in Nigeria? What influence did the throne of England have over the 1999 constitution and the enshrinement of Islam over and above all the other religions? The storms rocking the Royal family of England, and the change of baton in the political leadership of the UK (as represented by the election of a Hindi of Indian descent) all portray a break in the veil of spiritual cover over the Throne of England. It is a good time to also break Nigeria Free.

God has done his part. Now we must do our part and it is not a question of your religious affiliation. Just do what you can to cast your vote – and cast it for Peter Obi. We are not looking for saints, we are looking for keys. 2023…. Amplified! A new Nigeria is POssible! #NigeriaDeservesbetter #VoteObiDatti42023

Tems wins her first Grammy with “Wait for you” and Burna Loses

Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems, has just won her first Grammy Award for her performance in American rapper Future’s “Wait For You”, where she was featured alongside Canadian singer Drake. The song won the “Best Melodic Rap Performance” category in the 65th edition of arguably music’s biggest award show. This makes it her first Grammy award win. Burna Boy failed to win in his category. He had been nominated in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ and the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ categories.

Top Nigerian artists have joined music fans from across the world to congratulate singer Tems on winning a Grammy award.

She won the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her contribution to the hit song Wait for U with Future and Drake. They beat a strong field which included Kendrick Lamar and DJ Khaled. Artists including Tiwa Savage, Waje and Omowunmi have posted messages congratulating Tems. “It’s Tems’ time. Nobody can stop her shine. Superstar” posted Afrobeats singer Olamide.

Some fans on Twitter have been hailing her as the first Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy. However, others argue that the historic first was achieved by British-Nigerian singer Sade, whose real name is Helen Folasade Adu. She has won the award four times. Tems, 27, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, has experienced a remarkable rise. She self-produced her debut single, Mr Rebel, in 2018, which led to an almost instant fan base called Rebel Gang, who appreciated its unique sound and faster pace compared to other female Nigerian singers.

Just over four years later, she’s a Grammy winner with a list of collaborations with notable international artists. Featuring on WizKid’s 2020 single Essence helped propel her to global prominence when the song reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Dubbed the song of the summer, it saw her fan base expand beyond Africa. She is reportedly working on collaborations with several megastars including Beyoncé and Rihanna.

Her vocal talent has been praised by fellow artists. DJ Edu, the host of BBC’s music show This Is Africa, said Tems has a “unique” style. “It’s great to see Tems getting this recognition. She’s always stood out from the crowd, being true to her own unique sound and style, and I’m really happy she’s achieved such heights without having to conform,” “I nominated her as one to watch in 2020 so obviously, I’m basking in her success,” he added.

Meanwhile, South African’s Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode also won a Grammy Award – for Best Global Music Performance for their collaboration with Bayethe as they defeated Burna Boy’s Last Last to claim the award for Best Global Music performance while Japan’s Masa Takumi edged his album, ‘Love Damini’ to win the Best Global Album category.

The Naira Redesign Palaver

The Naira Redesign Palaver! The New Naira Notes!
The Naira Redesign Palaver! The New Naira Notes!

Three months ago, the Central Bank of Nigeria headed by Mr Godwin Emefiele announced the redesigning of N200, N500 and N1000 denominations of the Nigeria currency called Naira. The Central Bank Governor gave 31st January 2023 as the deadline for the exchange. In other words, the above-mentioned old denominations cease to be legal tender from 1st February 2023. Many Nigerians welcomed the announcement with mixed feelings. Some were asking why? Many thought that three months were still far. Thus life went on without worries about the redesign. The month of November passed. The month of December came. The Yuletide activities absolved the attention of all and sundry. The insecurity situation in the country also preoccupied many minds. Human life is more valuable than money. Fuel scarcity and its hike in price added its obstacle. The New Year dawned. Everybody was filled with joy that we survived the precarious year of 2022. Life went on with the old 200, 500 and 1000 naira notes. So far only a few individuals and groups went to banks to deposit the outgoing currency denominations.

As we entered the last week of January 2023, millions of Nigerians woke from intentional and unintentional slumber. The Apex Bank authority announced that she was not going back on her decision of withdrawing the affected Naira denominations from circulation from 1st February. This caused a mad rush to the banks for the deposition of the old affected currency. The queues became unimaginable here and there. One man’s meat is another man’s poison. Opportunity, they say, comes but once. Many food and drinks vendors clustered at the outskirts of the banks and made profitable sales. Some pickpocket thieves also were around to pick and deposit as well.

An Igbo proverb says, “O na-adi mma ka ikuku kuo ka a hu ike okuko.” This means that nothing happens without a lesson to be learnt from it. The thought of the Apex Bank redesigning the three big denominations brought out hidden things. No wonder the Bible underlines that everything hidden must be revealed. Wonders shall never end. Could you believe that a popular street beggar came to a bank with two big Ghana-must-go banks to deposit his money? When counted it was almost ten million Naira. Is he not a millionaire beggar? This shows that some of the street beggars are richer than those they beg from. Some have made begging a profession. A certain beggar has built a storey building for his family and tenants. He collects house rent every month and begs daily. Is he not a dupe?

Listen to this breaking News which was released a few days ago: “Dear husbands, please remind your wives that it is 8 days left for the old currency to expire. All the money they have been hiding from us inside garri, back of the TV, under the bed, inside the pillow, under the big pot, etc. they should kindly bring them out and allow us to deposit and change them to new so that they can have new notes to hide again.” For some, it was a laughing matter while it was annoying for some husbands. Last week there was great wailing in a poor family of nine. The husband has been bedridden for some years and there was no money for going to the hospital. Also, the children were driven out of school for none payment of school fees. The mother of the house was a hidden prosperous petty trader. This money redesign exposed her. She buried in a sack all the money she earned in the backyard while the family was in financial agony. As the expiration of the affected denominations was coming close, she had no choice but to dig out the money sack. On digging, it was discovered that moth and moisture have eaten and destroyed all the bundles of money in N200, N500 and N1000 notes, except the few on top. She cried and fainted instantly. The children heard the distressful cry and rushed to the scene. They saw and fainted as well. There was a loud wailing from the mother and her seven out-of-school children. Neighbours thought that someone died. They rushed to the scene to sympathize with the bereaved family. What they saw amazed them. They started pouring curses on the stingy wicked woman. Eventually, the sick husband was told of the destroyed hidden huge sum of money, which was about five million Naira. He sighed and died instantly out of grief. The stingy wicked woman couldn’t bear the loss of money and the loss of her husband. She is now suffering from acute madness to the extent that she is walking naked in the marketplaces. People call her a wicked mad woman. The seven wretched children were taken to an orphanage home last week.

The Naira redesign policy makes further revelations. Some who couldn’t go to the bank to deposit theirs began to be charitable. Some became ‘Father January’ like Father Christmas. Sellers saw an increase in their daily sales. Debtors liquidated their debts with immediate effect. A certain bad debtor called me on phone to inform me that he was on his way to my house to pay me the money he borrowed from me ten years ago. He really came and paid me in the old denominations. I unwillingly accepted them. As evidence of my displeasure, I did not offer him anything at all. I saw hunger and anger on his face. He left my house yawning. Immediately he left, I rushed to the bank to deposit them because the deadline was very close. In the churches the offertory increased tremendously, all in a bid to dispose of the old currency. The lower denominations became valuable and were hoarded. Inflation decreased gradually.

Some politicians were badly hit by the Naira redesign policy. A certain billionaire politician without tangible means of livelihood was reported to have kept aside in different homes over 200 Billion Naira for vote buying during the forthcoming Presidential Election. He planned to spend N5 Billion in each state for vote buying. The CBN Naira redesign has rendered him useless. Therefore he is crying about being sabotaged by the powers that be. It is a herculean task for the mysterious billionaire in question to take his bullion vans packed with higher Naira denominations to the bank to exchange for new notes. He is gradually dying in silence. He is not alone. Many politicians are affected. Almost all the money in circulation has been stored in bags in their warehouses for vote buying. They are all wailing politically. I hereby mandate the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to make a house-to-house search of all the politicians contesting for power in the forthcoming general elections. Strange revelations will be made. Many heads will go in for it. Vote buying has disabled our electoral process. It is a crime and a person who commits a crime is called a criminal. How can criminals be in power? A snake must give birth to something as long as itself. No wonder the Holy Scripture says, “The love of money is the root of all evils” (1 Timothy 6:10). Vote buying and vote selling are the same. Anyone who sells his or her vote sells his or her freedom and conscience. Therefore, let us say ‘No’ to vote buying and selling.

Four days before the expiration of the affected old Naira notes, people began to reject them. Marketers and transporters witnessed low patronage. Many passengers were stranded due to the scarcity of the new Naira notes. A petty trader who eats from hand to mouth did not sell anything for days. Since he deals with perishable food items and to avoid hunger in his family, he unwillingly accepted the old Naira notes even at the late hour. At the closure of business on that day, he knelt down and prayed, “God, for you nothing is impossible. Therefore I implore you to turn these old Naira notes into new ones so that I and my family can eat this night.” Before he could obtain a divine response, my write-up went to press. Indirectly his prayers were answered through the Central Bank Governor in consultation with President Buhari who extended the use and exchange of the old Naira notes till 10th February 2023. As the new 200, 500 and 1000 Naira notes arrive, we must shine our eyes well to distinguish between genuine and fakes ones. The devil and his agents can never rest.

Buhari for free poll, not against any candidate, FG replies El-Rufai

The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Nigeria, and an APC Chieftain, Mallam Nasir El Rufai Speaking

What has been discussed in political circles in hushed tones and which was released through innuendoes a few days ago, by the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at a campaign rally in Abeokuta, was, yesterday, elevated to the national discourse, by Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai. Insinuations have been rife within the APC, as well as among the opposition elements, that President Muhammadu Buhari might not have shown enough support for his party’s presidential candidate, Tinubu.

Appearing on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, el-Rufai belled the cat, when he pointedly said some people in the Presidential Villa (Ask Rock) are working against Tinubu and plotting his failure at the polls. El-Rufai also revealed that the said individuals, who he didn’t mention, had their candidate during the APC presidential primary, but the candidate did not win. He added that those individuals are hiding behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s desire to do what he thinks is right.

Tinubu had at the keenly contested presidential primary in June, trounced top aspirants including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President Ahmad Lawan; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Labour Minister, Chris Ngige; among other party stalwarts. He said: “I believe there are elements in the Villa that want us to lose the election because they didn’t get their way; they had their candidate. Their candidate did not win the primary. “They are trying to get us to lose the election and they are hiding behind the President’s desire to do what he thinks is right. I will give two examples: this petroleum subsidy, which is costing the country trillions of naira, was something that we all agreed would be removed.

“In fact, I had a discussion with the President and showed him why it had to go. Because, how can you have a capital budget of N200 billion for federal roads and then spend N2 trillion on petroleum subsidy? This was a conversation I had with the President in 2021 when the subsidy thing started rising. He was convinced. We left. It changed. Everyone in the government agreed, but it changed. “The second example I will give is this currency redesign. You have to understand the President. People are blaming the CBN Governor for the currency redesign, but no. You have to go back and look at the first outing of Buhari as President. He did this; the Buhari, Idiagbon regime changed our currency and did it in secrecy with a view to catching those that are stashing away illicit funds. It is a very good intention. The President has his right. But doing it at this time within the allotted time does not make any political or economic sense.”

According to him, the policy of currency redesign at this moment is the idea of a few people in the Presidential Villa and was never the policy of the APC. “I must say that the naira redesign and fuel scarcity is the handiwork of fifth columnists because they want to bring the country down, otherwise, why must redesigning of naira be the priority of the Federal Government at this time.” But in a swift reaction, the Federal Government debunked insinuations that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and a cabal in the Presidency are working to sabotage the electoral chances of Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election. Briefing newsmen after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in the State House, yesterday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who had kept sealed lips after last week’s outbursts by Tinubu, affirmed that President Buhari was committed to ensuring free and fair election, adding, “If there’s anybody working against a candidate we don’t know officially.”

According to him, the leader of the administration, who is also the leader of the ruling party, is more concerned with seeing the elections being credible, and not tilted in favour of any particular candidate or against anyone. Mohammed said: “On a more serious note, one thing I can assure you is that no matter what, this administration is focused and determined to ensure a free and fair election. “But I think with this administration, the most important person is Mr President, and I think he has shown by words and deeds that he is committed to a free, fair and credible election. And fair, free, credible elections actually mean not favouring anybody or disadvantaging anybody. And everywhere he (Buhari) goes, he makes that very clear, even as recently as last Friday when he was in Daura, he said the same thing.” Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, yesterday, shared the video of el-Rufai’s appearance on Channels TV. The President’s wife, in a post on her verified Instagram account, shared the clip of the governor with a simple caption: “#LongLiveTheFederalRepublicOfNigeria”.

MEANWHILE, APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who has been visibly absent at recent campaign rallies of Tinubu across the states, was yet to comment on the development, same for the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party. But the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the APC has said el-Rufai only stated the obvious when he said some elements in Aso Rock are working against Tinubu’s victory.

Reacting to what el-Rufai said at the launch of the ‘ThinkingCaps’ app, aimed at gaining the support of youths for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, the Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Mr Dele Alake, who is also the PCC’s Director of strategic communications, said the governor’s comment was self-explanatory. He explained that there was nothing spectacular about what el-Rufai said. Alake explained that in all institutions, you cannot have 100 per cent of all the operatives in an organisation seeing issues exactly the same way. His words: “He did say that some people, but he never said the President and in any organisation, including your own individual media houses, you have your editorial policy and there are elements within your organisations that don’t agree with the editorial policy, but they still work there.”Alake added that the conspiracy against Tinubu by forces within the Villa would fail, insisting that Tinubu remains unbeatable in the presidential poll.

The National Vice Chairman, of APC Southwest, Isaac Kekemeke, has called on Adamu, to act swiftly on what el-Rufai said. According to him, “no one who is a keen observer of actions and inactions of many people in the party would be constrained to want to agree with Governor el-Rufai that some forces in APC do not want Tinubu to succeed. “These elements have refused to campaign for or project the party in any way despite having benefited immensely from the party. They are doing nothing about the image of the party.” Kekemeke added that whereas the policies of the government may have been explained and defended to be for the good of Nigeria, “it is obvious that those policies are deliberately tailored to bring a lot of hardship to the people at this very delicate period such that it could easily de-market the party and not only its presidential candidate but other contestants too.”

The Southwest National Vice Chairman added that el-Rufai is an insider in APC both at party and government levels and for him to have come out means something is seriously going on. “It is time for the leadership of the party, Mr President and the national chairman to stand up to the occasion.”

In another reaction, immediate past National Vice Chairman, Southwest APC, Pastor Bankole Oluwajana, said those cabal the Kaduna governor is referring to should also know and understand the fact that the South will not fold its hand and allow the North to keep the Presidency for another eight years if that is their agenda. Oluwajana added though that the President is not part of the scheme, otherwise, he would have expressed his feelings that he doesn’t want Tinubu right from the onset. “I believe Governor El-Rufai understands what he said and he also knows the implications of what those cabals are doing, otherwise how can somebody be redesigning the naira at this delicate time? How can they allow fuel scarcity during this period? These policies are creating hardship and anger, bitterness in the people against APC government.”

The Chairman of Senate Committee on Local Content, Teslim Folarin, who is also the gubernatorial candidate of APC in Oyo, said the fact that Tinubu had said the would remove fuel subsidy could have been part of why those cabal, who were beneficiaries of the subsidy, are fighting back. A former Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, said the position of el-Rufai did not come as a surprise to him. “Events in the party have indicated that some forces don’t want Tinubu and or power to shift southwards,” Shittu said those forces who hijacked President Buhari and made him a victim are again at work operating against the interest of Tinubu.

“It will be very painful if APC loses this election. Take a look, those forces are tactical, they locked Tinubu out of government for eight years, the national leader never participated in governance, and he doesn’t even know what was going on in government, but now the same force are creating a scenario to blame the current hardship on him so that he will fail.”

General Pervez Musharraf: Former president of Pakistan dies after a long illness

Pakistan's Former Pervez President Musharraf
Pakistan's Former Pervez President Musharraf

Ex-president Pervez Musharraf, a former four-star general who seized power after a 1999 military coup, died in a hospital in Dubai, where he was living in self-imposed exile since 2016. The retired politician and military chief, who supported the US invasion of Afghanistan but faced the consequences as militancy surged in his own country, died in Dubai after spending years in self-imposed exile, Pakistan’s mission in the United Arab Emirates confirms. His body will be flown to Pakistan for burial on Monday, Reuters reports. Once an implacable foe of India, he became a real force for peace from 2002-2007. The people that met him, found him smart, engaging & clear in his strategic thinking. He was called a military dictator, but there has never been a stronger democratic system than that under him. Pervez Musharraf led Pakistan at a very difficult time, and Pakistanis believe the era of his reign was one of the best in Pakistan’s history.”

The former president who backed the US-led invasion of neighbouring Afghanistan during his tenure died after a prolonged illness at the age of 79. The retired politician, who ruled Pakistan for nearly a decade after seizing power in a bloodless coup in 1999, passed away at a hospital in Dubai after spending years in self-imposed exile, news outlets reported on Sunday. His death in the Emirate was confirmed by Pakistan’s embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Born in Delhi in 1943 during the British Raj and raised in Karachi and Istanbul, Gen Musharraf was commissioned into the Pakistan army in 1964 and saw action during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 as a second lieutenant. He rose to national prominence after being promoted to four-star general by prime minister Nawaz Sharif in 1998, as well as head of the armed forces. At the time, Pakistan’s powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency was backing the Taliban after they swept into power in Afghanistan in 1994, something Gen Musharraf was later reported to have supported.

Then, after leading the Kargil infiltration that prompted the India and Pakistan war in 1999, he responded to Mr Sharif’s attempt to sack him by ordering the army to seize power, which in time led to him taking over Pakistan as president in 2001. His presidency oversaw rapid economic growth, and he won plaudits around the world for his reformist efforts, pushing through legislation to protect the rights of women and allowing private news channels to operate for the first time. He also pushed for social liberalism throughout his presidency, as well as economic liberalisation, and also banned trade unions during his presidency survived two assassination attempts.

Friendly US relations

Most notably, Gen Musharraf built friendly relations with the US and became one of Washington’s most important allies. His penchant for cigars and imported whisky, along with his encouraging Muslims to adopt a lifestyle of “enlightened moderation”, increased his appeal in the West in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in the US, despite having ousted an elected leader. He continued to back the US, allowing its forces to operate armed drones from secret bases on Pakistani soil and ordering domestic troops into the country’s lawless tribal areas along the Afghanistan frontier for the first time in Pakistan’s history.

But it was his heavy-handed use of the military to quell dissent, along with his ongoing support for the US in its fight against al Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban, that ultimately led to his downfall. US forces’ pursuit of militants in Afghanistan saw fighters flee over the border into Pakistan, after which they regrouped and together with local extremist groups, including the Pakistani Taliban, began a years-long insurgency. In 2011, it emerged the leader of al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, had been living in the Pakistani military city of Abbottabad for years before he was killed in a US operation.

Gen Musharraf later claimed credit for saving Pakistan from American wrath, writing in a 2006 memoir that the country had been warned it needed to be “prepared to be bombed back to the Stone Age” if it did not ally itself with Washington. The later years of his presidency were overshadowed by his increasingly authoritarian rule, including ordering troops to storm a mosque in Islamabad to kill more than 100 students who had called for the imposition of Sharia law. Gen Musharraf remained the Army Chief until retiring in 2007 and was president of Pakistan until 2008.

After his party lost the country’s first democratic elections in 11 years in 2008 and he faced impeachment, he resigned as president and fled to London. Gen Musharraf returned to Pakistan in 2013 to run for a seat in parliament but was immediately disqualified, and by 2016 he was allowed to leave for Dubai. In 2019, he was sentenced to death in absentia for the 2007 imposition of emergency rule, but the verdict was later overturned. His family announced in June he was suffering from amyloidosis, an incurable condition that sees proteins build up in the body’s organs, forcing him to stay in the hospital.

FINISHING STRONG: KNOWING WHEN TO QUIT IN FOOTBALL AND POLITICS

0
The Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi and Running Mate, Dr Datti Baba Ahmed
The Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi and Running Mate, Dr Datti Baba Ahmed

Every starting point has an ending point. A man born on a date has a date with death. The glamour of a race is not just on the starting but the propensity to finish strong. The wisdom and omniscient nature of Almighty God is captured in Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 in the paradox of there’s time for everything…… God is a perfect God and certainly beyond mistakes and reproach. The challenge is that man tries to play God or even challenge nature which is God’s secret.

In football, most footballers started playing as teens through group stages for their countries. While some drop at the teen, some cross teen and graduate to twenties and drop their boots,  some get to thirties, forties, fifties and sixties. Some drop their careers in their twenties and thirties to become coaches and football administrators leaving the stage for stronger, capable, fit and better footballers to carry on. Some reasons why great footballers hang their boots and jerseys early could be because of early injuries, fatigue, loss of form and mental incapacitations. For mental incapacitation, it will be awful seeing a footballer turning round, facing his goalkeeper and delivering an intercontinental ballistic missile shot ( credit to late ace footballer commentator, Mr Ernest Okonkwo). Listening to your body language, medical advice and family opinion is crucial in ending careers.

Today, the oldest footballer is 60 years old and that’s Robert Carmona of Club Hacele Un Gol A La Vida,  a 4th-tier Club in Uruguay.  Kazuyoshi Miura popularly known as King Kazu of Yokohama, Japan is 55 years old. He retired from international football after the 1998 World Cup after scoring 55 goals for the country in 89 matches and knew the importance of quitting International Football while the ovation was loudest. Essam El-Hadary, an Egyptian goalkeeper is 50 years old and still playing. At 42 years, Roger Milla featured in the 1994 world cup scoring a goal and still to date the oldest player to score at the World Cup finals.

Let’s look at the following footballers who did justice to the round leather game but had to quit early because they knew it was time to exit the stage. Maverick Eric Cantona left the game prematurely at age 30 due to injury. Daring Marco Van Basten painfully quit football at 28 years of age, again due to injury. Incredible headmaster Zinadin Zidane hung his boot at 32 out of choice having won all available trophies including the prestigious World Cup making room for the younger ones to take over while now working as a coach to groom stars, add value to the beautiful game and bring joy to lovers of football.

In politics just like football, some European and Western leaders are young like the French President and United Kingdom Prime Minister while the likes of current US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are in their late 70s but strong, healthy and mentally alert. They are still pushing without goofing. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is in mid 80 still exhuming confidence,  mental and physical alertness and exceptionally strong to vie for the presidency if the constitution allows it.

Old age is grace. Everyone prays to get old so that will not constitute a burden and nuisance to dependants. Like football, it’s good to know when to quit politics to avoid self and family degradation. It’s good to know when to say NO to sycophants and wicked entities pushing and knowing fully well you own your body and can understand it better. It’s good to be man enough to know when to hang your boot if whenever you touch the ball in the field of politics, spectators will boo at you waiting for your next goofing. It’s good for an ageing captain in a drenched match to know when to signal the technical crew to get a replacement,  transfer your captain band and leave the pitch with standing ovations.  It’s good to know when to sit back, having gotten enough playing and technical experience, aimed at selecting and raising a new generation of skilful players than struggling shirts and playing time with outstanding players you raised. It’s trite to know that it’s time to hang up the boot when you “magically” start scoring against your own goalkeeper consistently and still insist on playing. In this situation, the fans that push on playing the mentally disabled player are the worst culprits. The family of the inverse player are criminals, wicked and ultimately hate their patriarch. The players under review do not have the physical strength of Roberto Carmona, King Kazu, El-Hadary or Roger Milla. They are injured already like Marco Van Basten and lack the mental alertness of Obasanjo, Biden and Trump and yet refuse to leave the pitch. Worst still, they have the debacle of alleged corrupt tendencies hanging around them.

These undeniably skilful, experienced and exposed Captains of APC and PDP should quit the field for the youthful, energetic, intelligent and shrewd Labour Party Candidate to complete the race. Skill, experience and exposure alone can’t sustain you in the tedious and turbulent race rather character, competence, capacity and capabilities are required for the finishing line. In football, you don’t ask where a good player is from, rather you are glued to what he did in previous matches and look forward to what he will do in subsequent games. A good, capable and healthy captain plays 90 full minutes the way PO has performed in Anambra, stood all through at Chatham House meeting, running around the country for rallies, never goofing, courageous, empathic, taking questions himself without delegating and remaining in Nigeria without running to Dubai. As a wonderful player, he has brought value to his club LP and fan base than ripping them off as governor unlike some that are still milking their states via questionable pension schemes and those skilled in selling off our commonwealth assets and whom his former boss refused to endorse.

A safe flight is a flight that took off and landed safely. The ill-fated flight could occur when the Pilot refuses to take directives or instructions from the control towers. The ability to obey directives ensures a safe flight. Our dear APC and PDP have started the flight,  let them listen to the control tower made up of over 100m poor Nigerians, unlucky Nigerian students, out-of-school children, exposed and unsecured citizens, unemployed but employable Nigerians,  victims of fuel shortages,  hunger ravaged Nigerians and helpless citizens and don’t fly. They are called structures and Control Towers Directors determined to crash the flight of these two having declared their grounded aircraft unfit and dangerous.

Peter Obi is a younger player representing an unserved region, positioned to break back-to-back Muslim presidency, armed with requisite exposure as a seasoned captain that commands the respect of club and fans alike and a versatile player without baggage. Peter Obi has a capacity vice-captain that’s inform called Dr Yusuf Ahmed-Datti. Vice is as good as the captain with everything going for him. Both represent the face of a new Nigeria that works for all where equity, justice and fairness are served. Come 25th February, I solemnly declare that day as a pulling-out parade day for our highly respected former Captains, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku (BATA). Like the former BATA Company known for premium leather footwear and unknown to the present generation, our votes will confine them to the thrash can of history. Like football, it’s good to know when to quit. BATA are like cars that jumped bad potholes. Some potholes will give you the opportunity to park well and check your car while dangerous potholes will automatically park you…..let us automatically PARK these men. Peter Obi is the real deal. Vote OBIDATTI.  Vote LP…! Vote Mama! Pikin! Papa! … see you on May 29th to gloriously usher in the good governance and responsible leadership that will turn around our fortune and cause Nigerians to rejoice.

HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE THIS?

First, I know that truth and conscience are sacred and open wounds. Am aware, very much aware that most of the people following these retired Captains daily will vote PO. Am further assured and can bet that PO will win at the Aso Rock polling booth. Am convinced beyond words that the current victims of Nigeria State earlier mentioned will vote for PO.

Am further reassured that the traumatized middle belters praying for the end of insurgency and slaughtering will vote for PO so as to return home and continue with their farming.  The very rationale and balanced Muslims that sees reason for power to go to a Christian President of southern extraction will vote for PO and by extension, the Christians themselves will vote for PO. Unarguably, those that believe that power should return to the South and to the marginalized Southeast will vote for PO. Our understanding brothers from South-south having taken a shot at the Presidency with the support of the Southeast will vote for PO. Members of the Nigerian Labour Congress with an institutionalized structure yet impoverished in 774 LGAs will vote for PO to change their sad narratives. Those impressed by PO’s revelation about rot in our oil industry and for a better tomorrow will vote for PO. The votes of Nigerians waiting for a complete turnaround of our economy from consumption to production will vote for PO. Our diaspora running and sweating to maintain families in Nigeria and hoping to return to a better Nigeria will influence votes for PO.

In essence, given the current scenarios of BIVAS,  no Government House will write votes or extraordinarily influence votes. The old acclaimed votes in the bank will be useless like just changed currencies as real figures will emerge from genuine votes and not written results. Old figures will be deflated and punctured and a new era will be enthroned. Voters will make statements aimed at taking back our country. On that, I doff my cap to President Muhammad Buhari for stabilizing our democracy by signing the 2022 Electoral Act and maintaining his neutrality. INEC must do the needful to save this country from avoidable calamity by discharging their duties professionally, creditably and meticulously to be on the good side of posterity.

Congratulations ahead Mr Peter Obi, Dr Yusuf Ahmed-Datti and all progressive Nigerians dreaming of a better Nigeria. Remember the code is LP and the password is Mama Pikin Papa.

2023 Presidency: Northern Leaders Optimistic Kwankwaso Will Step Down For Atiku –

You will understand this long read-only if you still have any grey matter left in your skull. That was the headline of confirmation for me published on the front page of the Daily Independent Newspaper on Monday the 30th day of January 2023, after being troubled by the political trajectory of my moment of honour to which I was invited by ACIPA. The angels in the hallowed chamber of the National Headquarters of the ECWA Church in Jos must have been as surprised as I was when ACIPA DAY 2023 took a turn for political marketing engineered by Fulani nation using one from among us. Born to rule is the slogan of Sokoto state, an interpretation of the grip of the oligarchy represented by the throne of the Sultan. Born to rule doesn’t apply to all who were born in Sokoto or northern Nigeria, it speaks of those who by DNA have identified with the throne; as Fulanis.

Please, don’t misunderstand me, I have nothing against the Fulani nation and tribe, my excitement knew no bounds when I saw a thoroughbred Fulani man; Buba Aliyu, President of the Fulani Christian Association of Nigeria, I sacrificed the front seat offered to me by ACIPA’s Chairman Rev Shehu Luke to sit beside this rare Ambassador of the Fulani nation. It was meant to be a day of prayers, awards, investiture and book dedication according to the organizers. A privilege it was for me to be listed for the honour along with persons whose mark of stewardship to God for humanity in ministry has placed me close enough to humbly and gladly unlace their sandals if given the opportunity!

Rt. Rev. Fr. Dr Matthew Hassan Kukah is no mere a man of diplomacy and statesmanship. A seminarian extraordinaire with a speciality in apologetics. His impact in this regard is beyond the borders of our continent having served the Vatican City as a member of the Pontifical Council For Inter-Religious Dialogue under 3 popes, now a member of the Dicastery For the Promotion of Human Integral Development at the Vatican City! The “Calipher” Bishop of Sokoto has elevated his pulpit to global relevance.

Christmases in recent times are incomplete until his homily is heard or read, not just in Nigeria but all over the world. Though he was absent, this took not the glamour of the event. Another man of ministry service listed was Rev Dr Caleb Ahima, a man of quiet disposition, but a silent achiever. Candidate in one of the past CAN elections I worked vigorously against Miyetti Allah’s sponsored candidate, and the choice of Miyetti Allah won! I will conceal the details of drama that made us victims as Christians as a result of our wrong decisions taken as a body in the past. I don’t intend to heat up the church as we go towards the 2023 elections. I hope I won’t have to! Listed for honour on the other divide of religion were Engr Mansur Salihu Nakande, National Secretary, Fityanul Islam of Nigeria, Mallam Nuhu Ibrahim Almasih, a privilege to meet Sheik Muhammad Nuru Khalid, the point blank, “say it as it is” former Imam of Apo Central Mosque.

Politicians were not left out, Dr Daniel Bwala whose wits of words have the capacity to strip an Angel of its angelic form in human minds and make a demon desirable as a replacement for an angel. He couldn’t make it to the event. A star-studded occasion if you will permit me the usage of the word. The political list was led by HE, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State, who was ably represented by HE, Boni Haruna, former Governor of Adamawa state! One of the Awardees, Rt Honourable Yakubu Dogara rested the responsibility to deliver the speech of the occasion, themed; *The Past, Present and Future Roles of Northern Christians In The Development of Nigeria.

Typical of politicians at political seasons, he was far from doing justice to the topic as no single mention was made of the roles of any Christian or groups in the past, the present or the future. No doubt, he stole the opportunity to push his candidate, nevertheless, the speech will be rated “A” in political marketing. Dogara was principally one of the political pillars upon which Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won his APC ticket. The credit for Osibajo’s defeat at the APC primary goes to the rallying influence of political Christians like him. His submission on Asiwaju will leave only the gullible confused. The meeting ended without an opportunity to ask questions. So he walked away with his answer to the questions on my mind. Could much of the Pablo Escobar-style discovery about Tinubu be between the APC primaries and now?

Atiku, he told us has done so much for the Church in the north. He cited the example of his becoming the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the wings of Atiku, a particular Christian would never have been the Governor of Taraba, he stated. Rev Jolly Nyame will be eternally grateful to Atiku Abubakar for making him a Governor. He further cited the case of my friend since the advent of social media H. E. Boni Haruna, who I was meeting in person at the event for the first time. He was nodding in approval to the rhetorical political sermon of Dogara. He left no one in doubt of the mindset of an average Northern Nigerian Christian who sees citizens’ rights as privileges for which they must shout rankadede! This rankadede mindset and the pattern sustaining it is the biggest challenge of Northern Christians, and except there is a mind shift, they will wait till Jesus comes at the table of oligarchy for fallen crumbs!

He wasn’t done until he took a swipe at Obi, but it is important for me to state my take away which is the fact that northerners of tribes outside Fulani, Christians in north and south, Nigerians in general and politicians, in particular, are ignorant of the complexity of the oligarchy institution driving the power process in Nigeria. We are far removed from the reality of the pawns we are in the power game. The king of the 2023 game is the Fulani man; Atiku Abubakar, who once traded for Buhari to be rewarded with 2023. Tambuwa was traded at PDP primary for AA and his reward in the future is sure. It is the turn of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to be traded for a future reward. To the oligarchy, the north is one politically even though they are terribly divided, but the string to pull them together for joint political position and mission they have never lost. Their social welfare negligence is a tool of subjugation but their nemesis today for taking the people for granted for so long!

Back to the question of Peter Obi and how he fits in the puzzle. Who is Obi? An inconsequential personality in the estimation of the oligarchy but a potent weapon of change in the hands of angry Nigerians who were promised change in 2015, the next level of change in 2019 and an extra level of it in BAT’s 2023 Hope Renewed!

The people have heard world-class manifestos from the mouth of FFK, Daniel Bwala, and Festus Keyamo. This pattern is the suspicion of selling Obi. The tongue of FFK is tied to the APC manifesto and it is sweet in his mouth, but the man whose mind and plan for Nigeria the manifesto represents is a direct opposite of the document every time he opens his mouth! Keyamo may shout at Seun Okinbaloye and fight with Rufai Oseni all he likes! Their disagreement is unresolvable because his principal is painting town hall meetings and campaigns in different shades of blue. Dino is too garrulous and vulgar to communicate his product to the people who should buy it. The gap is the question of Atiku’s candidacy. It was wise of APC to exclude Lai Mohammed from their campaign! Smart also is the absence of Sheikh Isa Pantami whose face may remind the nation of terrorism. The unresolved question of persons like him is the reason it is dangerous to ignore the threat that the Muslim/Muslim ticket poses.

Is an Atiku presidency any different from Tinubu/Shettima’s Muslim/Muslim ticket? If anything; I think it is a deeper version. A Fulani Muslim succeeding another Fulani Muslim in a nation left at the mercy of Fulani herders in the past seven-odd years because one of their own is in power according to Nasir El-Rufa???? This will be too much a reality for any logica≥≥l mind to ignore. An Atiku presidency would keep power to the Fulani as designed by the oligarchy for 16 years. The choice is ours! Political alliances are the strength of the oligarchy’s game, they know how and when to form it and when it should be discarded. Okowa is just another useful tool for serving time!

Is Obi really the best presidential candidate among all the 18? I personally don’t think so. But he is the very best among the leading four for the exigency of the time! In this battle for the soul of Nigeria, it is the right of someone like ‘Yele Sowore to give the command to his army but the quest for political diplomacy sought a face with a mouth, Obi’s face and mouth fit the yearning of the masses who were tired of reading imported manifestos without local intelligence to interpret and execute them. The trader in Obi met the expectations of most Nigerians. That’s the crux, the meat, a thousand criticisms of Obi by proven failures hold no water. Nigerians in my observation have made up their minds. If they must be scammed, it must be by a new scammer! Dogara had nothing really to say about Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso. I will submit that all I can make out of his thoughts on RMK is, he is a brother of Atiku and their Oligarchy political patrimony will take care of his interests.

While Dogara was the hands of the Oligarchy stretched forth from the altar of ECWA National Headquarters camouflaging as the voice of the church. His conclusion was the superior experience of Atiku for which we all must follow him to the place where his mistake of selling the Aluminum smelting company built for $3.2 billion and sold for $205 million with a down payment of 5 million dollars and the balance of $200 to be paid within a period of 20 years. A company from which $324 million was earned in the export of Aluminum products the year Atiku became the Vice President. That’s a herdsman sale, cows appreciate but national assets don’t! We have never stopped asking the question who did this to us from 2015 till date! Will the question still suffice after the 2023 election or we are going to undo what we did to ourselves? In his word, nobody can take another to where they haven’t been before. The truth is, Dogara spoke for himself and his co-beneficiaries in an Atiku Presidency.

Northerner or Arewa, in the local language, is the veil behind which leaders hide. “Leaders” is the political identity of the clique in control of power, the power gamers I grew up to know as the Oligarchy, same day, Sunday 29th January 2023 were expressing their optimism that Senator Rabiu Kwankwanso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), will eventually step down for Atiku Abubakar, the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)! My insinuation a leading member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), who spoke with Daily Independent on Sunday, has confirmed. He said the leaders are optimistic that a partnership will be brokered between Kwankwaso and Atiku! The sophistication of the Oligarchy in the game of power is revealed in the Daily Independent story which stated that the Northern leaders have agreed that there is a need for the region to forge a common front ahead of the election, especially given the hostility and gang-up against Atiku by the PDP G-5, led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. Wike’s right to expression is concluded as a gang up against Atiku and possibly against him, who was born to rule!

The NEF chieftain, who, according to Daily Independent asked not to be named as he is not authorised to speak on the issue, said eminent retired generals, religious leaders and traditional rulers are all talking with Kwankwaso on the need to collapse his structures for Atiku! He added that if the NORTH can present a consensus candidate and the Southern votes are shared between Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Atiku will easily coast home to victory!

The ideology of one Nigeria in all intent of the north is one north, that is why their sons preferably Fulani Muslims are born to rule the rest of us and to decide who among the northern Christians they have humiliated to humility enough to serve their interest! In the usual way of northern political pragmatism, the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council said Atiku has promised to run a government of national unity and will partner patriotic Nigerians in the mission to rebuild the country from the ruins caused by the APC! My question is which party was Atiku in 2015 when the contract to ruin Nigeria was sealed?

The pattern before us that must be broken going forward is the need to square the 2023 race on resetting Nigeria on competence, character and charisma. Who is the candidate with competence, and character of frugality that we must model as a country? With 77 trillion debt hanging on the necks of our unborn children, who is that candidate adverse to loans as a way to grow the economy? Who among them has shown charismatic communication that brought his plan for the country home to ordinary Nigerians to understand? Who has promised to cut the extravagant recklessness of political officeholders and their civil servant cohorts whose financial flamboyancy we can not continue to bear? These are the questions in the mind of Nigerians, that, candidates and political parties must have answers to. For now, it is the Oligarchy vs Nigeria, and may Nigeria win!

THE POWER IN UNITY

Map of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

If we are not going to deceive ourselves, Nigeria as of today has no good name in the comity of nations. We are in a state of reproach. Nigerians are ridiculed by the foreign embassies where they seek immigration. They are often harassed “Why do you want to go to my country, why do you not stay in your own country?”

Many have died in the seas and in the desert when trying to flee the borders of Nigeria through illegal means. Thousands of our young women have been turned sex slaves in the countries where they flee to. It ought not to be because God has endowed the country with everything that is needed to be a pride and a leader among the nations.

There was high hope for a great nation after independence. The fathers of independence concentrated their attention on building the nation. Thus the nation was progressing. The fathers of independence were committed to the development of the nation, so they paid high attention to building manpower on the realization that education is the foundation for a great country.

It is however very sad that the people who were luxuriously trained by the fathers of independence; both civilians and soldiers, with the commonwealth had no commitment to the nation but to themselves, thereby stalling development. They turned the state purse to their personal use thereby leaving a trail of terrible poverty for the common people.

Of course, year in and year out, money is budgeted for the development of the nation but rather than use the money for the purpose, for which it is intended, the various monies end up in the private pockets of the politicians and civil servants. So we witness all around us, individuals with homes and properties, which value cannot be estimated while other citizens wallow in squalor and all national infrastructures are in dilapidation. So University graduates roam about the streets and some of them and other young stars turn to criminal behaviours in what is referred to as Yahoo yahoo. Others become kidnappers and bandits.

However, I never lose hope. All these reproaches can become a thing of the past if we all can revert to the right course, which the fathers trod. All it requires is for every one of us, every one of us; men and women, young and old, educated and uneducated, Politicians and non-Politicians, Religious leaders and laities, Lawyers and judges to be united at bringing the reproach of our nation to an end. Today, I want to relate just two stories where people were united and their unity of purpose turned things around positively for them. So the topic of my sermon today is “The Power in Unity”

Let us pray. The Power in unity.

No one needs to be persuaded any longer that all Nigerians must be united to revert the chaotic situation in our land. It is a task that must be carried out in a situation where religious fanatics could kidnap Government officials in the course of their duty. It is a task that must be carried out in a situation where a military Brigadier can be ambushed by religious fanatics and killed. It is a task that must be carried out in a situation, where religious fanatics can easily penetrate a military barrack and kidnap senior military officers. All these incidents I can confirm are not possible in Saudi Arabia, the world headquarters of the Islamic faith or can we be more religious than Saudi Arabia? It is a task that must be carried out in a situation where the fear of travelling from one town to the other grips everyone due to the fear of kidnappers.

Let us turn into the book of Genesis chapter 11 and let us read the first nine verses:

1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Babylonia; and they settled there.

3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.

6 “Look!” He said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them! 7 Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.”8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Let us read verse 6 again: God the Almighty said “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!” Papa God recognized and affirmed that there is nothing impossible for man, there is nothing, which man cannot achieve, once they are united.

I am preaching on the topic “The Power in Unity” Listen Nigerians, all we need to do if we want the wealth of the nation to circulate around every one of us rather than being monopolised by political syndicates, their cronies and civil servants who are in charge of projects is to be united with one voice. Unity is all we need. But take note that nothing is ever achieved on the platter of gold. So we must be prepared to make a lot of sacrifice. But they are sacrifices that are worth it for future gain. And I warn that if we do not do it now, this generation will not have passed away when the country Nigeria will cease to exist and if it exists, the coming generation will heap curses on us.

Checking out of the country is not a solution. The fathers of the country where you want to escape to had at a time made sacrifices in order for the country to appeal to you. So why do you not repair your own country? After all, there was a time in the past when people all over the world loved to make Nigeria, their place of abode. This was the case up to the 1980s.

Permit me to give you another example of a situation where the power of unity worked. There was once a country called Judah with Jerusalem as the capital city. The country is today called Israel. The citizens of Judah sinned, they annoyed God and God caused them to be exiled to Babylonia. This was in the year 605, 597 and 586 BC respectively and they became slaves of king Nebuchadnezzar. Quite a number of their descendants and their parents who were still alive were freed in the year 539 BC to return to a country that had turned into rubble. The first batch that returned rebuilt the temple, which was originally built by king Solomon, and was the pride of the Jews. But the city fence still lay in ruins.

All these while, Nehemiah who must have been born as a slave, remained in Babylon as a slave but in an exalted position. He was king Artaxerxes’ cupbearer. He got distressing news about Jerusalem and other captives who had returned. The people were in great affliction and reproach, just as it is happening to most Nigerians today. The wall of the city was also broken down and the gates burned with fire (Nehemiah 1:3), just as it is in Nigeria. Let us call a spade a spade, the walls of Nigeria are broken. Nehemiah became sullen. It was palpable and his boss, the king noticed it.

Nehemiah became burdened for the country of his ancestors and he was prompted into prayers and fasting (Nehemiah 1:4-11). O Father God, that you will raise for us in Nigeria, thousands of Nehemiah who will be sincerely burdened about Nigeria. The result was that the king not only permitted him to go and rebuild the city wall; but provided him with a protective escort and every material that was needed to rebuild the city wall (Neh 1-2:9). Nehemiah prayerfully and carefully planned for the building of the wall (Neh.2:11-20). He was Governor of Jerusalem between 444 and 432 BC. Very many citizens were involved in the building. The account of who is who that were involved in the construction is recorded in the book of Nehemiah chapter 3. The High Priest was in the front line (vs 3). With the High priest carrying bricks, what excuse would the junior Priests and the Levites have, to fold their hands? (vs 1,22,25,17)

Consider what will happen if the head of the Christians and the head of the Moslems, the Sultan of Sokoto will lead the campaign for the restoration of Nigeria. What excuse will the Imams and the Bishops of Churches and the thousands of General Overseers have, not to follow suit? In the building of the Jerusalem wall, Temple servants (vs 26), rulers of different districts, and even ladies got involved willingly (vs 12 18,19). Consider our esteemed traditional rulers in Nigeria to champion the restoration of the nation to what it was at independence!! Consider all our past Heads of state; military and civilians and the first ladies to vow to restore Nigeria with all sincerity and not with lip services.

Of course, the task of building the Jerusalem wall was not smooth sailing for Nehemiah. It is normal that there would be detractors, distracters and scoffers. Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem the Arab (Neh 6:1), the Samaritan army officers, other Arabians, Ammonites and Ashdodites were filled with rage (4:1-3,7). They insulted and mocked. They plotted to kill the workers. They tried to persuade the workers to abandon the work (4:11-12). They threatened and frightened Nehemiah (6:19). On four occasions, they invited Nehemiah to a meeting, but it was a deceit. It was a plot to kill him. They slandered Nehemiah in order to lure him to their meeting. They planned false allegations of rebellion against him before king Artaxerxes with intention of becoming the king as the reasons behind the project (6:1-2, 6-7). Shemaiah who was supposed to be a man of God, a prophet even, was an agent (6:10). He was hired by the enemies to lure Nehemiah to abandon the project. No-adiah a prophetess and other prophets (6:14) tried to discourage Nehemiah, including some wealthy politicians and others from Judah (6:18-19) who had sworn allegiance to Tobiah.

So in this restoration of Nigeria, which I am championing, we may not expect everyone to be on our side. The people who are profiteering from the prevailing deep corruption will more than likely mount opposition. However, in spite of the overwhelming opposition, which Nehemiah faced, the building of the wall and the fixing of the gates were completed in a record time of 52 days (Neh.6:15). How was that possible? It was, because “The people had a mind to work” (Neh.4:6). It was possible because the people were enthusiastic to get it done. It was possible because the people were united to get it done. I am preaching on the topic “The power in Unity”. I am absolutely convinced that Nigeria can be restored. It is not late only if respected voices in the nation would have the mind.

It is possible if our esteemed traditional rulers will use the power in unity. We can immediately join the league of respected nations if our past heads of state and the first ladies have the mind to do it. It is possible if religious leaders on all sides of the coin will determine it and emphasise in their pulpits on Sundays and Fridays, righteousness and Godliness and dedication to the nation. It is possible if our politicians will develop a love for their fellow citizens and sincerely work out plans to take them out of poverty by ensuring that they and the civil servants stop diverting money budgeted for developments to their private pockets. They must be prepared to allow their earnings to be in line with other civil servants.

Every of these highly placed people must be prepared to forgo some of their current luxurious benefits. Governors must allow the Local governments to function independently without holding their funds. The Local Governments must be made to allow the traditional rulers in the Local governments to have a say in the running of the Local governments. The Chairman of the Traditional council may be made the ceremonial head of the Local government. This is the only way by which the grassroots can feel the impact of the government.

To be continued. Let us pray!

Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has flagged off construction of the 1.8 kilometres Ama Isi Udala Village road, Ifite-Ogwari road project in Ayamelum Local Government Area. The Governor inaugurated the project which is strategic because it leads to the irrigation basin in the area. According to the Governor, the flag-off is a promise that he has come to fulfil. “Before I came, I met with the stakeholders of Ayamelum, where they pleaded that we construct the Ayamelum road, linking Awka with a bridge and I considered it as very strategic.

“They also said that Ayamelum people are not in employment in the public sector. Nine months into our administration, we recruited 5000 teachers, and Ayamelum people are there in their numbers. “You also asked for roads. Which is what we have come to do today. Your stakeholders also requested appointments and we are already on it; all happening within ten months. We will do more”, the Governor stressed. “The first road which is about 27 kilometres linking Ayamelum to the State capital is ongoing and very strategic and will be delivered in a few months’ time. “The Commissioner just told me that the bridge has been designed. I can’t wait for the bridge to go across the river. “But most importantly, Ayamelum is APGA land. On election day, make sure you come out en masse to vote APGA all the way.

“Our people should also imbibe the culture of paying their fair share by prompt payment of tax. “A bishop told me to engage only foreign contractors for the construction of Anambra roads, but New Idea, the construction company, has the capacity and competence to deliver, that is why we gave them the contract. “They mobilized to the site immediately they were given the contract, it shows capacity, but they should bear in mind that the contract reads that the road will last a minimum of twenty years”, concluded the Governor. The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma noted that Governor Soludo has a great interest in integrated development across the state, pointing out that the road being flagged off leads to irrigation sites, and it is guaranteed to last for twenty years and has five months completion date.

Speaking on behalf of New Idea Construction Company, Igwe Sir Ben Emeka thanked Governor Soludo for giving an indigenous company like theirs, the opportunity to showcase their handwork. “I want to assure the governor that by April ending, we must have delivered according to the contract agreement”, he added. Speaker of the State House of Assembly and APGA Flag-bearer for Ayamelum state House Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uchenna Okafor recalled all the promises the Governor made to the people when he came to canvassed for votes for the party and stressed that the flag-off and other things to come are in fulfilment of those promises. He appealed to the people to vote for APGA all the way if they are interested in continuity and development.

Also speaking, the APGA Senatorial Candidate for Anambra North, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano said, “We’ve come to flag-off the road which is a good thing; so we have to thank the Governor by voting APGA”, just as the APGA Flag-bearer for Oyi, Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Lady Maurene Gwacham reminded the people to vote APGA in order to remain in power. Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Transition Committee Chairman for Ayamelum, Mr Livy Onyenwe, Commissioner for Petroleum, Barrister Tony Ifeanya, MD/CEO ATMA, Mr Emeka Okonkwo, a large crowd of supporters, among others attended the event which featured cutting of tape to signal official flag-off of the road.

TINUBU DID NOT BUILD LAGOS

2
APC Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu
APC Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu

“I have restrained myself from getting involved in this kind of controversy. This was why I made a strenuous effort from being drawn into the brickbat between Bayo Onanuga/Dele Alake on the one hand and Arise News on the other despite pressure on me to say something. “Oga, this is shameful, won’t you say something to guide us?” I resisted the pressure. The drive for political power in this clime has no respect for anything. Not for honour, nor anything with the tinge of sublimity! You will be hailed for calling black white and white, black even on the platform of journalists who are not just observers but chroniclers of developments and events.

How can anybody say LASU was a glorified school? Oh, really? The Metro line was stopped by the Buhari junta, not by NPN! What NPN attempted to do was to stop the establishment of Lagos Radio and Television. The Shagari Administration sought to vest the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria with the power to establish and operate state radio stations. The Nigerian Television Authority was to set up at least one television station in each state of the Federation. They said states setting up radios and TV would amount to the proliferation of broadcast stations. They did not know the person they were dealing with—someone who for years was the President of IPI, the founder of the Nigeria Guild of Editors, the founder of Newspapers Proprietors Association, (NPAN); founder of NIJ, managing director/editor of the Nigerian Tribune, one who led the media in battles with the military as well as irresponsible civilian administrations. Jakande fought it and was victorious. His administration was, therefore, the first state government to own a TV Station in Nigeria.

The functional primary schools he built to abolish the three-session system he inherited were recommended by UNESCO for developing countries. When Gbolahan Mudasiru came, he started to upgrade them. And he did a lot. The Jakande schools were meant for a purpose and they fulfilled such that pupil enrolment leapt from 90, 172 in 1979 to 136, 987 in 1983. Secondary schools rose from 79 when Jakande took over in 1979 to 319 by July 1983. The student population was 59,584 by October 1979. By a year later it had leapt to 107, 835 students. The teachers were the highest paid in the nation with the right to car and housing loans like the state civil servants.

Housing: He embarked on a crash programme to build 50, 000 housing units in four years. For 17 years before his ascension, LEDB, the state housing corporation succeeded in building only 4,502 housing units. His focus was on the low and medium classes of our people. He succeeded in delivering 21,000. An allottee was required to pay only N4,000 as a deposit. Whoever was unable to afford that could pay just N1,000 and he would be eligible for a loan to balance up from LBIC. He thus established 18 housing estates in the state. A two-bedroom flat was sold for N6,000 and a three-bedroom unit for N8,000. I have read in several places that by 1999, Lagos could only generate N600 million. Let’s hear it from the horse’s mouth who came to the saddle 20 years earlier, the one and only LKJ: “We generated enough to meet our obligations without dependence on the Federal Account.” And so, Lagos State under Jakande was the first State Government in the land to announce a billion Naira budget and it gave loans to some state governments, notably Borno!

Jakande was the one who established the Lagos State Ministry of Environment under the headship of Alabi Masha. He then set up Lagos State Waste Disposal Board with Alhaji Mumini as chairman. Anyone of my generation who knew Mumini would remember the kind of person he was, and his unremitted application to assigned tasks. Equipped with a fleet of 157 vehicles, 21 mechanical shovels, and 2,000 movable dust bins in every part of the metropolis, the board collected 400,000 tonnes of refuse yearly. Of course, the population of Lagos has increased by leaps, it should necessarily be expected of his successors to roll up their sleeves and Fashola fitted the bill. Fashola did remarkably well. We should remember that because of his shine, it was a tug of war to have him get the nod of the city fathers for a second term! Ambode continued in the line of Fashola to tackle the refuse problem successfully. Was it not part of building a cleaner Lagos that Fashola embarked on environmental transformation everywhere, turning Lagos into exemplary leafy surroundings plants, flowers, and green lawns even in the most unexpected terrain?

Jakande established Flood Relief Committee de-flooding Ebute Ero, Oroyinyin; Obalende; Aguda; Opebi; Apapa; Eric More; Simpson; Oba Akran, and many more up to Shomolu! Drains collectors were built at Gbagada; Oshodi Mafoluku; Ojota; Keri etc.

To arouse public interest in environmental transformation, Jakande introduced the following:

Annual Sanitation Day for Market Women;

Annual Sanitation Day for Workers;

Annual Sanitation Day for School Children;

Annual Environmental Day for Community Development Committees; and

Annual competition on environment among the 20/23 local government councils in the state.

I won’t want to bore the platform with the roads Jakande built and paved nor his strategy to turn the finances of Lagos State around. Presently, I will mention just one area. Strategy on roads? Hold it: His strategy was to establish a Works Management Board. One unique activity of that board was that it had its asphalt plant which could produce 200 tons of asphalt an hour! So, it was possible to build neighbourhood roads without much stress. That board also constructed 94 public buildings including the Lagos State House of Assembly; the rebuilding of Onikan Stadium; the Coconut industries in Badagry as well as Conference Hall in that town!

Perhaps worthy of mentioning because of the exaggerated claims we are fed on this platform is Eto- OSA-Lekki which stretched to Epe! And also, perhaps Epe-Ijebu-Ode (12,000 meters)! Ha! Let me quickly mention the opening up of Victoria Island-Lekki! Just one stream of financial turn-around: Jakande Administration invested in the following companies: Guinness Nigeria Limited; Nigerian Breweries; Dunlop Industries; Capps & Da’Alberto; Julius Berger; G. Cappa; UAC; BEWAC Ltd; UTC Ltd; CFAO; Volkswagen Nigeria Ltd; Nichemtex; Clay Industries; British American Insurance; Westminster Dredging Crusader Insurance!

I have not exhausted all that Jakande did to be the modern builder of Lagos. As I said earlier, I have refrained from getting involved in this kind of thing. Were we living on the moon? Are we children? It is rude to attempt to pull the wool over the faces of journalists on their platform, many of them very senior journalists who, if not editors in the period under review, were line editors!

What constitutes the index of development, of enlightenment if not education, environment and health, transportation? Jakande built LASU, polytechnic colleges, and schools which form the foundation of civilization anywhere. He met 17 hospitals since the colonial days, and within four years he increased the facilities to 22. He set up 10 mini waterworks which is a tool of sanitation. He established a ferry service from Festac to Marina and wool is being pulled over our faces as if we are children and uninformed—on this platform!!!

OPEN LETTER TO JAGABAN OF BORGU

0
Chief Femi Fani Kayode and the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Chief Femi Fani Kayode and the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

My dearest Jagaban,

You know very well that I have always liked and respected you. You will also recall that a few years ago I warned you that everything that is being done to you today would eventually be done to you given the choices you made at the time. I bear you no malice or ill-will but in view of what is happening in your political party and given the fact that your good friend, co-conspirator and collaborator, President Muhammadu Buhari, has finally thrown you under the bus and dumped you, I am constrained to write the following.

The bitter truth is that you predicted NOTHING and you saw NOTHING. The only things you saw were your own vain delusions and insatiable greed and the only thing you felt and that moved you was your blind ambition. You sold your body, spirit and soul to the enemy and betrayed your people even though we warned you over and over again that those you were dining with were far smarter and far more astute than you. Yet even though all the signs were there you dismissed our concerns, vilified us, treated us with contempt, demonized us and sought to destroy us.

Now the chickens have come home to roost and the writing is on the wall. The signs are there for all to see. You betrayed and sold Lagos. You betrayed and sold the South West. You betrayed and sold the South East. You betrayed and sold the South-South. You betrayed and sold the Middle Belt. You betrayed and sold the North East. You betrayed and sold the North West. You betrayed and sold the Muslims and you betrayed and sold the Christians. Simply put you betrayed and sold EVERYTHING and EVERYONE in Nigeria just to feed and satisfy your psychotic obsession and compulsive ambition.

Like Icarus the Greek, you flew too high and too close to the sun with your wax wings, puffed up and fuelled by your hubris and pride and now you shall meet your nemesis. The spiritual wound that has been inflicted on you is irreversible and terminal and there is no going back. The dark clouds that lie ahead of you are thick, ugly, frightful, violent and impassable: you cannot make it through them safely or survive them. Your enemies have dug a pit for you and you have already fallen into it. They have finally stripped you naked, grabbed you by your balls and taken everything from you.

You have lost your mystique, honour, glory, self-respect, following, clout, pride, reputation and so much more. You have also lost control of the political party that you conceived, formed, nurtured and built. The APC was your baby and now they have taken it from you and are set to kill it. They fooled you, used you, dumped you and humiliated you and now they are going to expose you, rubbish you, malign you, break you, crucify you, investigate you and utterly crush you. You dreamed of being Vice President in 2015 and you failed. You are dreaming of being President in 2023 and you will fail.

In all your plans what you failed to appreciate is that God alone rules in the affairs of men. You refused to acknowledge or accept the fact that the Presidency of Nigeria can only be given by God and He gives it to whom He deems fit by prophecy and divine decree. It is not about money and power. If it were Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Yar’adua, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, who had neither of the two before being elected as President, would never have made it. It is about God and God alone. It is for Him alone to give. It is about His purpose, His will, His counsel, His plan and His glory.

He OWNS the Presidency and the minute any man or woman attempts to usurp His role and think that he or she can buy it or manoeuvre his or her way into it by the usage of political intrigues, guile, sagacity, wisdom, power, knowledge, money or anything else, the Lord disqualifies and rejects him. Such a person will fail woefully and may even end up losing everything he or she values and cherishes in his futile quest. God will never share His glory with anyone and He will never support a man or woman that is prepared to mislead, betray and sell his own people down the river just to satisfy his vaulting and insatiable ambition of becoming President. Yet the signs were there but you refused to acknowledge or accept them.

They refused to give you a formal position in the National Executive. They ensured that some of your key loyalists in the South West turned against you and opposed you. They refused to accept even ONE of your Ministerial nominees both in 2015 and 2019. They humiliated your protegee who you nominated as Vice President and turned him into a pliant and pathetic little errand boy with no testicular fortitude or shame. They drove your nominee at FIRS out of office unceremoniously and have placed him under criminal investigation.

They have divided the ranks of your loyalists and turned even your hitherto most trusted lieutenants against you. They insulted, undermined, and marginalised you openly and worse of all they made it clear to you privately that they would NEVER give you power. All this meant nothing to you and you shamelessly continued to support their evil ways and toe their satanic and murderous line. Yet if you did not care about what they subjected you to you ought to have at least cared about what they did to Nigeria.

For the last five years, our nation and people have suffered because of the calamitous choices that you made and the inexplicable and unconscionable alliances that you forged. You propped up and supported a ruthless, heartless, corrupt, bloodthirsty and cruel regime and tyrant and a President that is clearly beside himself and whose mental and physical faculties reside in another realm and in another world. Consequently, our nation has been utterly and completely destroyed, our economy ruined and our people decimated.

They have been slaughtered, butchered, pauperised, emasculated, humiliated, marginalised, insulted and impoverished. Hundreds of thousands of them have been murdered in cold blood in their homes, towns, villages and farms and millions have been displaced. Millions more have been ruined and economically destroyed whilst our country remains weak, divided and the butt of cruel jokes all over the world. Because of your choices, Nigerians are being subjected to persecution, physically attacked, enslaved, humiliated, lynched, scorned, maimed, killed, disgraced, evicted and declared persona non grata both at home and in distant foreign lands whilst our foreign Embassies are being demolished by miscreants and local criminals even in supposedly friendly countries.

I sincerely hope that one day you will reflect on all this and consider the damage you have done to your kinsmen and compatriots. Whether you do or not is left to you. Still, one thing is clear: for the choices you have made, for all you have done and for the sheer wickedness and greed that resides in your insensitive and dark heart you will pay a heavy price both in this world and in the world to come and the Lord will hand you over to your political enemies. Permit me to conclude by quoting the instructive words of a tweet that I posted just yesterday after I heard about the latest developments in your party. I wrote, “First Oshiomole is kicked out by the Court of Appeal. Then his preferred replacement, Ajimobi, falls into a coma. Then his arch-rival, Giadom, is recognised by Buhari as National Chairman.

Conclusion: it is over for Tinubu. He has been thrown under the bus and retired from politics!” I stand by those words. Happy retirement my dearest Jagaban: may you live long to see the glory of our country restored and the damage you have done to our people repaired. Shalom.

Relationship Narrative: the Truth about Governor Ugwuanyi and Hon. Chijioke Edeoga

This is a Collage of Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga, the Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State
This is a Collage of Chijioke Jonathan Edeoga, the Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State

Since Hon. Chijioke Edeoga declared interest to run for the governorship of Enugu State by resigning his office as the commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals in Governor Ugwuanyi’s cabinet, in line with the electoral law, and his purchase of governorship form, the political turf has received a wave public interest especially as Edeoga’s candidature is greeted with wild acceptance, jubilation and celebration. The social media went agog with much excitement and shouts of joy in view of Edeoga’s political capital founded on character and competence evidenced in his public service antecedents.

On the other hand, Edeoga’s candidature, as it flew through the sky, fanned the camp of the opposition cold. They became panicky, knowing that the Edeoga brand is unbeatably pristine and unblemished. Incidentally, most of them in the other divisions have cases of financial impropriety and antecedents of abuse of public office hanging loosely on their necks. They would seek a way to floor him and would find none. The Ike Ekweremadu camp was the most badly hit. They had laid claims to competence all this while but now that they have seen competence personified, they seem to have suddenly dropped their political ladle and now fold their hands across their breasts like a woman stirring a pot of soup who on receiving bad news, suddenly drops her ladle, and this time in utter consternation and discomfiture. While these other aspirants battle with the slur of the alleged stealing of public funds and primitive acquisition of a plethora of property all over the world, especially in Dubai at the expense of the people, Edeoga comes with an untainted immaculately white rob of dedicated public service and righteousness. The Bible records that when the righteous are on the throne, the people rejoice. Governor Ugwuanyi came the same way and for the past seven years, the Enugu citizenry has been luxuriating in the balm of good governance. Another David has come to the throne and that is why Enugu has received the candidature of Chijioke Edeoga with pleasurable eagerness and excitement.

Because they have nothing to hold against Chijioke Edeoga, they came up with the relationship narrative, a ridiculously false claim with such an infantile hue. Hon. Chijioke Edeoga and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi do not share such a relationship as is being noised about. Even if they did, it would not mean that either of them would be debarred from aspiring to any public office simply because they shared a relationship. Which law precludes them as such? None!

Chijioke Edeoga is from Enugu East Senatorial Zone and Ugwuanyi is from Enugu North Senatorial Zone. They do not even share the same senatorial zone, to say nothing of local government, for while Edeoga is from Isi-Uzo, whose turn it is to produce the next governor of Enugu State ( Ka Isi-Uzo Jee), Ugwuanyi is from Udenu. The fact nonetheless is that their mothers hail from the same clan, Obollo Eke, in Udenu Local Government and that did not make them sisters to merit the contrivance of blood relationship to the tune of sisters the detractors ascribe to them that would prevent their sons from their aspirations. It is amazingly funny anyone would hold such a ridiculous narrative against Edeoga’s aspiration. What an unthinking folk! Alas! Where is their natural common sense?

Meanwhile, where were the detractors when in 1997, Edeoga was elected the chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government? Where were they when in 2003, Chijioke was elected into the House Representatives where he served as the chairman of the House Committee on Information? Were they alive when President  Jonathan appointed Chijioke his SA on National Assembly Matters? Did it take Chijioke’s relationship with Governor Ugwuanyi to attain these heights in politics and public service? Did it also take Ugwuanyi’s relationship with Chijioke for him to have attained the lofty heights he too has achieved in politics and public service to the extent he has adjudged the best governor in Nigeria, a reason why Nigerians are asking for him presidentially? Relationship or not, heaven is replete with many stars and they shine their shine. It would not take any of such contrived relationships to stop the stars from shining. Even if they were cousins, is it taboo for a cousin to hand over to a cousin? James Ibori of Delta State handed over to his maternal cousin, Uduaghan and heaven did not fall. As a matter of fact, Uduaghan discharged himself creditably in the office.

Those behind this relationship narrative are idle, childish and jealous folks who have nothing to put in the way of Chijioke Edeoga. They are just trying to hold on to broken reeds. While Governor Ugwuanyi and Chijioke Edeoga are not cousins, it would not mean that even if they were, any one of them would be barred from aspiring to any office on that account. Such a law is unknown to humanity.

IGBO WORLD ASSEMBLY (IWA) ENDORSES PETER OBI

0
Igbo World Assembly
Igbo World Assembly

The Igbo World Assembly, (IWA), an umbrella body of Igbo Organizations globally, has called on Ndi Igbo to ignore the call to boycott the coming elections in 2023. The Diaspora group from the 35-member countries after deliberations on the Global Zoom Teleconference meeting on the 22nd January 2023 voted unanimously to endorse and support the Nigerian Labour Party Presidential Candidate HE Peter Obi and the Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed in the Nigerian Presidential election on 25th February for 2023.

The group took a critical and extensive view of the major political parties, their candidate’s track records, characters, capacity and capabilities, and party manifestoes, before unanimously voting for the endorsement of the Labour Party presidential candidate HE Peter Obi and his running-mate Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the next President and Vice President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The World press conference on Sunday jointly addressed by Christian Onuorah, IWA, Vice Chairman and Oliver Nwankwor, Secretary General insisted that Nigerians should come out to participate in the democratic election without fear or favour and vote for HE Peter Obi and his running-mate Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the next President and Vice President of a New Nigeria.

The choice of HE Peter Obi, according to IWA, has generated widespread acceptance by many Nigerians, particularly among Youths and Women worldwide.

IWA is of the opinion that HE Peter Obi’s victory will generate the ‘will start turning Nigeria from consuming to producing country’ Nigerians have been yearning for, from day one. The positive energy, hope and faith in a New Nigeria will be ushering in the spirit of committed resolution to Nigerian challenges.

IWA carefully evaluated key policy factors of all the candidates that support her overwhelming endorsement:

1.         HE Peter Obi has a track record for standing up for the rights of all Nigerians and is working tirelessly (as he did while being Anambra State Governor) to improve the lives of all Nigerians. He is a Unifier

2.         He fought corruption as a State Governor, left money in an account instead of debt and promoted good governance. He has shown that his committed to good, financial, anti-corruption, transparency and accountability in government. He has committed he will work tirelessly to ensure that the resources of our nation are used for the benefit of all its citizens.

3.         He achieved massive economic growth in Anambra as a Governor and has plans for economic growth and development aligned with fairness and justice, and will help lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty. Lifting Nigeria from Consumption to Production.

4.  Governor Peter Obi took education in Anambra to the top or first position in Nigeria, within a very short time. Governor Peter Obi built the best network of roads in Anambra state when compared to the rest of Nigeria.

5.  He has a clear vision of how to address the challenges facing our nation, especially Security and Economic challenges, and he has the experience and leadership skills to implement them.

6.  IWA is convinced in HE Peter Obi’s track record, core beliefs and principles including respect for the constitution and rule of law, respect for human rights and civil rights, respect for the federal character commission rules, merit-based appointment to government positions, firm knowledge and competent management of Nigeria’s economy, detribalized appointments and leadership in all sectors of the government.

7.  As leaders in the Diaspora, we have been craving Good Governance; we believe that His Excellency Peter Obi is the right Candidate who will lead our nation to a brighter future. We urge all our brothers and sisters in Diaspora in particular and Nigerians, in general, to join us in supporting, voting for him and working together to ensure a better New Nigeria for all.

8.  IWA without a doubt is convinced that HE Peter Obi as President will effectively and decisively confront the security menace facing the country. During his 8 years in Anambra State as a Governor, he implemented zero tolerance on security. Anambra State has adjudged the safest State in Nigeria at that time. He will do the same as the President of Nigeria.

9.  Among the Presidential Aspirants, HE is the only corrupt-free contestant. IWA is convinced that he will bring the cost of governance down and will honestly fight corruption to a final stop. HE Peter Obi’s presidency will stop:

a. Fraud, fraudulent activities and embezzlement in government.

b. Nepotism and mediocrity in government.

10.  IWA considers the opinions of the youths to be vital because the youths constitute the largest majority of the Nigerian population and must be factored into the political future of the country. Obi’s exemplary engagement with youths and women manifested overwhelming support from the segments.

HE Peter Obi is a tested rare breed with leadership character, qualities, capacity and capability that Nigerians need now as its President. His remarkable achievements in Anambra remain visible and audible, the disciplined, accountability, responsibility, transparency and rule of law that he demonstrated as a Governor are what is required for the President of a New Nigeria.

HE Peter Obi is the only ex-governor that is very well respected and regarded across regions of Nigeria as a politician with integrity. For sure, the only governor that is not on the radar of the EFCC, corruption, indicted for criminal activities in the past and present – A TRUE ROLE MODEL, MENTOR, COMPETENT, CAPACITY, YOUNG, PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY FIT AND READY TO STEER THE NEW NIGERIA.

NO PRESIDENT, KING OR EMPEROR WILL MAKE NIGERIA WORK UNTIL WE EVOLVE A TRULY FEDERAL SYSTEM

Distiguished Senator Olusola Adeyeye
Distiguished Senator Olusola Adeyeye

This article is the text of a speech given by Senator Olusola Adeyeye at his Alma Mater, the University College, Ibadan (UCI), to alert his constituents, in particular, and fellow citizens, in general, about what he characterized as the three “gales” with immense destructive power at our very doorstep. In this day and age, it is possible to predict seasonal storms with careful scientific monitoring tools positioned on earth and in space to track changes in weather. Perhaps, it is to ensure that inhabitants of contemporary Nigeria recognize the approaching danger and hopefully do something to prevent it that must have inspired this academician/politician to share his most well-researched thoughts with the audience assembled at this premier Nigerian tertiary institution in Ibadan. But Senator Adeyeye’s admonition is destined to fall on deaf ears simply because the political elite corps are preoccupied with the many false narratives that dominate the country’s politics. One of the false narratives is the claim that Nigeria’s national unity is non-negotiable, example.

The Senator then went to a great lengths to debunk the spurious nation being bandied about the unnegotiability of the Nigerian nationhood by providing instances where nation-states have peacefully broken up into their component units as were the situations in the Indian subcontinent, Scandinavia, the former Soviet Union, former Yugoslavia and former Czechoslovakia. India and Pakistan split at the point of self-rule in order to allow for the Muslim-majority and Hindu-majority nation-states to emerge as independent countries. Except for the Indian subcontinent and Yugoslavia, the referenced breakups were accomplished in relative peace. He also mentioned the Ethiopia/Eritrea and Sudan breakups, which were preceded by decades of persistent bloodshed. He concluded that how a nation-state breaks up is not a reliable predictor of the fates of emergent entities as shown by the buoyant economies of India, Pakistan, Scandinavian countries and Balkan nations that used to comprise Yugoslavia.

The menacing killer gales were identified by Senator Adeyeye as IGNORANCE AND SUPERNATURALISM, STRUCTURAL ABNORMALITIES and OVERPOPULATION. To compound the lethal potential of the impending menace, these three gales are converging on Nigeria’s geopolitical space all at the same time. To avert the devastating effects of the approaching gales, Nigerian constituents must proactively find ways to terminate these storms or at least, find the means to get out of their paths. This is a feat that is better talked about than done successfully in real-time.

Ignorance and supernaturalism are deeply embedded in contemporary Nigerians’ proclivity to entrust things that matter in their lives in the hands of God while adherents of radical Islam would insist that Western education is “Haram” – as in Boko Haram terrorist insurgency. Those who wield the reins of power in today’s Unitary Nigeria hate the notion of Restructuring aimed at correcting current structural abnormalities. Overpopulation in our part of the world is self-evident. A combination of dogmatic adherence to the perceived tenets of foreign organized religions that dominate Nigeria and the celebration of crass ignorance in high places make the prospects of population control a very tall order.

Senator Adeyeye is a rare gem whose wisdom and informed counsel would have helped Nigerian stakeholders to better prepare for the fast-approaching storms. But he does not belong among those who hold the fate of 200 million Nigerians in their firm grasp and refuse to let go. We thank Senator Adeyeye for sharing his warning of an imminent mega-storm with the power to shred the fabrics of today’s Unitary Nigeria to smithereens. Unfortunately, the gales of ignorance, supernaturality, structural abnormalities and overpopulation have combined to launch Unitary Nigeria on a trajectory to perdition and those at the helm are also hell-bent on aiding the country’s descent into hell on earth.
