AT HOME IN HIS PRESENCE
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16).

There’s a consciousness that I have: I’m always in the presence of God! When you have that consciousness, nothing ruffles you. You’re never agitated about anything. You’ll always be full of joy, for in His presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand, pleasures evermore (Psalm 16:11).

Some Christians have the mentality that it’s only when they come to church that they’re in the presence of God. When they leave, they’ve left the presence of God. Some even pray for the presence of God to come down or follow them everywhere. Something is wrong. In Christianity, we don’t come in and go out of God’s presence; we’re forever in His presence.

His presence is our home. When you come into a place, no matter where it is, you come in with God’s presence. You bear His presence. You’re the temple of the living God. When you were born again, Christ took up His abode in you. He’s in you now, and you’re in Him. He didn’t come into you to leave again after some time; He’s forever in you.

In John 14:16-18, the Lord Jesus said, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” The Holy Spirit is in you today and forever; it’s an everlasting indwelling. Be ever more conscious that you’re a God-carrying vessel and you live in His presence every day—in the divine environment. Hallelujah!

Confession

The fullness of the Godhead dwells in me; it’s an everlasting indwelling. I’m conscious that I’m at home in God’s presence; I’m a God-carrying vessel and I live in the divine environment. What a blessing to be the conveyor and tabernacle of God’s divine presence. Hallelujah!

Further Study:

John 14:16-18 AMPC
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—
17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.
18 I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you.”

2 Corinthians 6:16
“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

Extract From Rhapsody Of Realities Daily Devotional

Good Morning Beloved.
Have A Pleasant Day!

#KeepSayingIt, Monday, 27th February 2023

I am Christ-conscious and I carry God’s presence everywhere I go. I am conscious of His grace and His awesome presence in my life. I do not worry, stress, fret, or struggle. I am not anxious about sicknesses or afflictions that plague ordinary men.

I’m crucified with Christ, nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God! I’ve been brought into life and immortality. I’m fearless, for death has been paralysed—defeated by Jesus, and when He did it, I was in Him!

My faith grows by the Word, prevails and triumphs over contrary winds and opposition. My life is regulated by the eternal realities of the Kingdom, and the blessings therein are unleashed into my world. My faith works by love, and I obtain a good report from God as I live victoriously every day. In my way is life.

In my pathway, there is no death. I have the life of God in me. Life belongs to me; I have it as my possession and as my nature. I have the nature of God; I originate from heaven. Therefore, I live a life that is above poverty, failure, and sickness. The life of God permeates my whole being.

I flourish in health and I walk in ever-increasing glory all my days. Everything that concerns me prospers. I’m born of God’s Word and His Spirit; therefore, supernatural health and strength are mine always in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

INEC And Nigerian Leaders  In A Nadir Of Pushing Nigeria To The Somali Crossroads Of No Return

Eastern Democracy and Human Rights Coalition Warns INEC and Nigerian Leaders, Enugu, Eastern Nigeria, Monday, 27th Feb 2023

If the ongoing widespread result manipulations are declared by INEC, it is permanent bye-bye to a united and peaceful Nigeria. Perfecting the ongoing widespread electoral irregularities by the Independent National Electoral Commission and its conspiratorial CSOs and desperate politicians in APC and others and announcing them as “the 2023 Presidential Election Final Results” with the declaration of Ahmed Bola Tinubu as a ‘winner’ will not be a surprise to Nigerians as this is not the first of its kind under the present INEC since 2015.  That is to say that INEC and Nigerian Leaders are known for the roguish declaration of a wrong or a looser candidate and the issuance of a “Certificate of Return” to him and facilitation of his swearing-in as “elected President of Nigeria”. INEC and Nigerian Leaders have also earned notoriety in getting the compromised and tainted men and women in the Temple of Justice to legitimize such armada of electoral fraud at the two-step electoral courts or Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Therefore, to perfect the ongoing widespread result manipulations across the country including re-writing of results, massive thumb-printing of same in secret official quarters and hotels in Imo State, etc and using the criminal services of hired INEC ICT and thumb-printing experts to perfect and upload such criminal results on INEC servers and have them declared with a criminal winner emerging, is one thing but containing and curtailing the accompanying short term, medium term and long term devastating consequences is another. The Eastern Democracy and Human Rights Coalition is therefore warning INEC and Nigerian Leaders that they are at a nadir of pushing Nigeria and Nigerians at the Somali crossroads of no return and complex uncertainties. Expertly and predictably speaking, the declaration of a wrong candidate as “the 2023 Presidential Election winner” will permanently blow off what remains of Nigeria and plunge the country into speedy or gradual pieces. INEC and Nigerian Leaders are hereby strongly reminded that Nigeria’s 2023 Presidential Election is an “electoral tsunami revolution” and the last hope of Nigeria and Nigerians. It is also the last gum that binds what remains of “Nigeria” if gotten right.

INEC Stinks And Fumbles From Digital To Typewriter.

The Eastern Democracy and Human Rights Coalition has observed that Nigeria’s INEC is incurably stinking and has wobbled and fumbled from digital to the typewriter. Nigerians can now see the “magic work, speed and efficiency of BVAS” under INEC midwifery. Emptiness and noises by INEC Chairman within and across borders have been brought to the fore regarding the “workability and speediness” of BVAS and IReV technologies and “their zero tolerance for poll rigging”. The trademarks of the 2023 Presidential Poll have remained widespread multiple, alien and underage voting, massive thumb-printing of ballot papers in restricted places and criminal uploading by criminal INEC ICT experts of fake results on INEC servers; with “2023 Ekiti Presidential Results reportedly bearing “20th Feb 2023” as date of their uploading on INEC servers as a clear case in point. Part of the 2023 Presidential Poll trademarks is the shutdown and inaccessibility to INEC servers. The emptiness and noises of INEC’s top heads including its Chairman and National Commissioner for Voter Education regarding the “BVAS-aided fastest collation and announcement of the 2023 Presidential results in the history of Nigeria” have been brought to the fore. As a matter of fact, the Eastern Democracy and Human Rights Coalition see no difference between the widely rigged 2019 Presidential Poll and that of 2023. Like that of 2019 that took INEC a whopping four days to perfect their rigging arrangements and announcement of the “final results”, the same situation is taking place as three days down the line, the results of the 2023 Presidential Poll are still hanging in the air; thereby putting the country at the crossroads of uncertainties.

INEC Is Threatening Nigeria With Permanent Goodbye To “United And Peaceful Nigeria”

It is the expert and predictable position of the Eastern Democracy and Human Rights Coalition that if the ongoing widespread result manipulations of 2023 presidential poll results, as clearly evidenced by INEC server manipulation and basket-load of reports of widespread changing of original results and fixing of fake results and uploading of same to fill up those areas without voting or with inconclusive voting as well as massive underage and alien voting in Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Bauchi, Yobe, Adamawa and Niger States (Nigeria’s 12 notorious presidential polls rigging Northern States), etc are declared by INEC as “2023 Presidential Election Final Results” with a wrong candidate as “the winner”, it is mostly correct to say that INEC and Nigerian Leaders have bid the country and its citizens “a permanent bye-bye to “united and peaceful Nigeria” embryonically and substantively.

MR PETER OBI EXPOSES JITTERY TINUBU’S MULTI-MILLION NAIRA FAKE NEWS PLOT.

0
TINUBU'S MULTI-MILLION NAIRA FAKE NEWS PLOT AGAINST PETER OBI
TINUBU'S MULTI-MILLION NAIRA FAKE NEWS PLOT AGAINST PETER OBI

BEWARE, OBIDIENTS, OF THIS NEFARIOUS ANTIC OF JAGABANDIT AND BE READY TO PUSH BACK, VERY STRONGLY.

The Obi-Datti Media Office is aware of the new focus of the faltering Presidential campaign of the All Progressive Congress (APC)candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is the planned launch of a multi-million naira media campaign, dubbed “Killer Punch”, aimed at spreading lies about the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

Having failed in all their plans to win the February 25 election, and seeing their campaign derailing on all fronts, Tinubu’s media handlers led by the  trio of Femi Fani-Kayode, Festus Keyamo, SAN and Adamu Garba are set to release a video they term “Killer Punch.” Already, they have been releasing snippets of the documentary on social media, without getting any attention, as people already know about their desperation to drag down Obi, who they rightly know, is far ahead.

These documentaries of lies and falsehood, which they have fabricated, attempt to portray Mr Obi as a drug peddler, killer and sexual pervert among other innuendos in their fertile imagination. Already, the Obi-Datti Media Office is aware, that they are a product of a strategy session between Tinubu and selected members of his media team, where Tinubu reportedly accused his media handlers of not “punching to knock out” and not doing enough, to halt Obi’s unprecedented progress.

He, therefore, demanded more wild propaganda from them, against his opponents, especially Obi, with the objective of throwing anything at the opponents to win, regardless of ethics or morality. We will continue to be amused by the desperation, to search for faults in the Presidential front runner, and their apparent frustration, of not finding any.

The LP standard bearer has remained the most fact-checked, among the four top Presidential candidates, for the obvious reasons, that he is the only one running an issues-driven campaign, and therefore provoking intellectual conversations, and gaining more supporters, daily, nationwide. But as election day draws nearer, and the reality of their impending defeat heightens, their anger and frustration, are also on the rise.

This instruction of a faltering Presidential candidate to his media team, to bring down the Labour Party flag bearer at all costs, is a clear indication of their hopelessness. We at the Obi-Datti Media Campaign Office have all the details of their machinations, including some anti-Obi persons, already contacted for a role in the so-called ‘Killer Punch’ documentary’, and also the release of N500m for this failed smear campaign.

International media recently did a comprehensive check on the fake news generated by the LP flag bearer, which highlighted designs to cast aspersions on this new awakening, that beckons from Nigeria, and indeed Africa. Just a few weeks ago, in the South East, some hirelings had recorded a fake video, where some gunmen pretended to be punishing a man for wearing a Peter Obi T-shirt, while the image was actually that of a PDP candidate, Peter Mbah, but the doctored video was misrepresented to refer to Peter Obi.

Another sponsored video is also going around, dishing out libellous and unsubstantiated lies against Obi’s clearly outstanding eight-year tenure as Governor of Anambra State. Clearly, these will not be the last of the despicable media lies and falsehoods. Our mission this day is to alert and warn discerning minds, especially those desirous to see a new Nigeria emerge through Peter Obi, to ignore and treat as thrash any doctored and faked media items on Obi.

The Obi-Datti Media Office will continue to expose their deceptive actions which have roundly failed since our candidate has demonstrated unequivocally that he is the best man for the job. In all presentations, assessments and polls, he has clearly outclassed his peers, in the required character, capacity, competence and capabilities, to provide a new direction of change and leadership, as desired by the people. We assure the Nigerian people and our supporters in Nigeria and globally, of our candidate’s unflinching focus on this month’s election and the impossibility of any distraction, regardless of all machinations.

Finally, our candidate, his deputy and all in the Obidient Movement are too busy in this rescue mission, to give attention to worthless lies and their equally cheap purveyors. The elections are just a few weeks away As Obi-Datti is growing by each second, let’s keep working hard, for the victory that will change our Country, for good.

Diran Onifade, Head of Media, Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council.

VALENTINE OZIGBO DRUMS SUPPORT FOR PETER OBI, AZIKE, UZOR AHEAD OF FEB 25 ELECTION

_As PDP Aguata collapses structure for Peter Obi, Labour Party

Valentine Ozigbo, the Special Adviser to the Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, on Technology and Strategic Alliances, has charged the people of Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State to come out in high numbers to vote for all Labour Party candidates in Saturday’s general election.

Mr Ozigbo made the call on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at a town hall meeting for political leaders and stakeholders in Aguata LGA held at his country home in Amesi, Aguata LGA, where it was also announced that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aguata has collapsed its structure into the Labour Party.

While addressing the large gathering, Ozigbo made a case for the Labour Party candidates for Chief Andy Azike, the party’s candidate for the Federal House of Representatives for Aguata Federal Constituency, and Chief Obinna Uzor, the party’s Senatorial Candidate for Anambra South Senatorial District.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s chapter in Aguata also announced the collapse of its structure for Peter Obi and the Labour Party. Speaking on behalf of the party, Nonso Okeke, the Chairman of the PDP in Aguata LGA, said that the Obidient spirit has “swept across Anambra, and the PDP has been swept away”.

“We have no choice but to follow our leader, Valentine Ozigbo (VCO) and collapse the entire structure of the Peoples Democratic Party into the Labour Party. We are 100% for His Excellency Peter Obi and the Labour Party,” Okeke declared as he thanked Ozigbo for his “brilliant and exemplary leadership”.

In an impassioned speech, the 2021 A elaborated on the importance of voting for Labour Party candidates across the board, pointing out the need to secure “inevitable” Peter Obi’s presidency by voting for the party’s candidates at all levels, especially as they share the same values and ideals, and will ensure that every member of society feels governance.

“We are 48 hours away from the most historic election in Nigeria’s history, and we must be prepared to do what it takes to secure our future and legitimately deliver Aguata LGA to the Labour Party,” Ozigbo remarked.

“His Excellency Peter Obi is the gold standard for Nigerian politicians. Now is the time for us to put our foot down and install competent, compassionate and committed leaders that share the same vision and passion for bettering the lives of Nigerians.

“We cannot allow Peter Obi’s presidency to be hampered by retrogressive elements who will frustrate efforts to improve our standard of living.

“This is not the time for grandstanding or sitting on the fence; this is the time to make our voices heard clearly through the ballot.

“Ndi Aguata, Chief Andy Azike and Chief Obinna Uzor are our brothers who have attained excellence in their chosen fields of endeavours without any untoward report of misappropriation of funds or abuse of office. These are the quality of individuals we should be voting into office to shore up His Excellency Peter Obi’s government.

“Anything short of this will hamper the massive revolution we yearn for and deprive the people of Aguata of the dividends of democracy we earnestly desire.

“So I urge you all to come out in full force on Saturday, February 25, 2023, armed with your Permanent Voters Card (PVC). Vote for Labour Party in all of the elections and let us take back Nigeria,” Ozigbo, a global CEO who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, added.

ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OF THE LABOUR PARTY MR. PETER OBI AT THE CLOSE OF THE CAMPAIGN SEASON 2023!

Family Values - by voting for the Labour Party—LP: Mama, Papa, and Pikin. Vote Labour correctly, peacefully, and hopefully. Labour Party: Forward Ever!
Family Values - by voting for the Labour Party—LP: Mama, Papa, and Pikin. Vote Labour correctly, peacefully, and hopefully. Labour Party: Forward Ever!

Fellow Nigerians, it’s three days to go and in my quiet moments I know that Nigerians are wondering what Peter Obi is thinking. I will share my thoughts here because I have Nigeria on my mind! We are currently at a crossroads. We need a leader to show us the way forward. We need a prudent president, a principled president who has what it takes to lead. As we say in Naija: “We need a person who sabi road; a person we go follow make this country better.” A new Nigeria is possible. We can make it.

We have national elections coming up next Saturday, the 25th of February 2023. The presidential election is the most critical because we will be electing the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is the only chance to elect a leader of our choice. We must choose someone who can solve our problems.  This is an essential and existential election. It is a make-or-break moment in our history. Future generations will not forgive us if we make a wrong choice.

The person of your choice must have these four qualities minimally:

Character: A person with a proven record of fairness, honesty, and trust. We need an honest person with a verifiable background: We must know his real name. We must know where he said he schooled. We must know people who knew him then. We must know where he has been, what he has done, what he has said, and what he has been doing these past months during the campaigns.

Competence: Someone who has the proven capability and the drive to move us forward. The person must have the required skills and must show the physical and mental ability to manage the affairs of Nigeria. The president we need must present the correct image of Nigeria abroad and stand tall among his peers at the United Nations and other international forums.

Commitment: We need someone who is committed and has the capacity to stop official corruption in this country. We have heard far too many talks about change. Enough of empty promises! We are tired of hearing sorry stories. We want real changes, not endless pity parties and porous pledges.

Compassion: We want a leader who is concerned about the welfare of Nigerians, not his clique of praise singers. Our fellow citizens are in IDP camps. I spent Christmas and New Year with them. They should be home. People die daily, kidnapped, killed, and raped. No one in government offers actionable concerns. It must end. We need a leader with the courage to do whatever it takes to bring relief to our citizens in distress. Let us perfect the federation of our forefathers. Every generation is destined to make the country better. The post-Independence generation has arrived. This is our turn. This is our time. This is our chance to make a difference. Making the same old choice will yield the same result. We are Nigerians. We are rational citizens. We make rational decisions. Let us keep a date with our destiny. Let us make a new nation for future generations.

The world is watching. We must take our destined position as the giant of Africa. You and I know the right thing to do. The greatest lie one can tell is a lie to one’s soul. If you are still undecided, please talk to yourself. Allow your conscience to guide you. No one is perfect but, ask yourself, “Should I choose someone I do not wish as a role model for my children? Be introspective. Ask: Could I live with myself for making the wrong choice just for a few new naira notes or because of my region and my religion?

I believe you will make the right choice and vote Labour Party: LP (Mama. Papa, and Pikin): The election is not about Obi and Baba-Ahmed.  This election is not about our ethnic groups, African traditional religion, Christianity, or Islam. It is not about our sacred churches, mosques, and shrines. The election is about the future of this land that God gave to our great generation.

Why Labour? I will tell you.

We want to move our economy from importing and consuming products to producing, consuming less, and exporting more. That is the essence of Consumption to Production. Datti and I will work hard every day with everyone. Many things went wrong in the past 24 years. There is enough blame to go around. We will not share blames. We will share hope. No more excuses. In life, what matters more is not what happened to us; it is what we do with what happened to us. Honesty is the best policy. We must be truthful to ourselves. Truth is the essence of life. I pride myself in striving to be an upright citizen.

I endeavour to do the right things. Fairness is the golden rule: do unto others as you wish them to do unto you. When I fail, I learn. Our revered Chinua Achebe stated that our humanity depends on the humanity of others. We are in this world with great gifts. Our world presents challenges and opportunities. Challenges stimulate our creativity. We will use the opportunity of vast resources in our God-given earth to meet those challenges confronting humanity. The welfare of one is the welfare of all. My modesty is not word of mouth: I live it. We can feed off each other’s simplicity. By producing more and consuming less, we can balance our needs, not wants, and make society more equitable. It makes no sense to fight over issues that require rational thinking & good conscience.

I love this country. It is not perfect. Nothing is perfect. Perfection is a continuum. The labours of our heroes’ past must not be in vain. Please come out and vote for Labour Party (LP)  Please subscribe to success, to the triumph of a tested, trusted, and verified leadership. Do not renew the subscription to suffering, to the sorrow of tomorrow. A new Nigeria is possible. Let’s make it happen like a TEAM: Together, everyone achieves more. These past months have been quite a journey. I have met millions of fellow Nigerians from all walks of life: men and women, young and old, rich and poor.

I thank our vice-presidential candidate, my brother, my friend and my partner for coming with me on this journey. I thank the Obidients and my core team.  History will record this campaign as the best: focused, friendly, mega rallies with no shịshị, respectful, and zero violence. Salute to all of us! We all made it happen: organically structured, passionate, united, and verified!

I ask you, my people, to empower me as your president and commander-in-chief. I will be in charge. I have the requirements for correct leadership: character, competence, commitment, compassion, hard work, honesty, humanity, and humility. I have the courage and the heart with which to deliver the dividends of democracy freely and fairly to our people. Where we fail, hold me responsible; where we succeed, kudos to you. We can change this country. If it takes us making the supreme sacrifice, let us make it for a greater tomorrow. I am most grateful that you found me worthy to take the torch and lead. I would not have come this far if you did not follow me. You are my strength, the wings that power the historic Obidient movement.

On behalf of our dedicated team, I promise to deliver on all core values. These are my thoughts. This coming Saturday, let us promote Family Values – by voting for the Labour Party—LP: Mama, Papa, and Pikin. Vote Labour correctly, peacefully, and hopefully. Labour Party: Forward Ever!

Mr Peter Obi, 22/2/23 A NEW NIGERIA BECKONS! Peter Obi will WIN by His Grace!!

Boko-Haram Insurgency – A rethink in Strategic and tactical Response toward resolving the crisis:

1
The Boko Haram Terrorist Group operating in Nigeria
The Boko Haram Terrorist Group operating in Nigeria

In the more than sixteen years of return to democracy, Nigeria has continued to experience ethno – religious and inter-communal strife. But the most predominant threat and driving force behind the insecurity in Nigeria is the terror network Jamāʻat Ahl as-Sunnah lid-daʻwa wal- Jihād or better known as Boko Haram.

Successive government efforts to check the activities of this terrorist organisation are without any significant success. The administration of President Goodluck Jonathan employed a combination of failed dialogue and intensive military action to curtail their activities. Initial military action succeeded in pushing the organization out of the major cities in Nigeria as evidenced by the drop in attacks in major city centres across Nigeria. However, the terrorist found an operational base in the forest of Sambisa and outside the borders of Nigeria from which frequent cross-border attacks are launched on poorly secured villages along the border and in neighbouring nations of Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

The sect’s actions – which focus primarily, but not exclusively, on three North-Eastern states of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa – are characterized by attacks on civilian populations, the military and police, and federal and state infrastructure. The frequency, reach, and intensity of these violent terrorist attacks increased in the course of 2013 and 2015. The State of Emergency was imposed on the three North-Eastern states to enable security forces to conduct counter-insurgency operations against the group. This step resulted in marginal reductions in incidences of violence and relative improvement in security in urban centres but not in remote villages and towns.

The North East region of Nigeria was one of the economically promising regions of the country in the first and second republics (1960-1983). At its peak, it was the centre of trade and commerce with prominent local enterprises thriving in the region. The region drew in entrepreneurs, technocrats and bureaucrats from other regions in Nigeria. Its growing natural resource base drove its investment and industrial potential. In those days, the region enjoyed religious, cultural and ethnic harmony as well as relative prosperity.

Over the years and following decades of neglect in governance and a decline in productive investment, North East Nigeria became the epitome of insecurity and terrorism in Nigeria. Pervasive violent extremism has diminished economic activities in the region resulting in the out-migration of non-indigenes, skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and indigenes and relocation of their economic activities outside the region. Most of the local businesses have closed down with a near collapse of the agricultural sector as the country increasingly depends on rent from oil and gas sector. This conflict-driven population migration or involuntary movement of people has exacerbated unemployment and poverty conditions in the North East region – driving these parameters above the national average.

It is estimated that up to 11 million Nigerians who live in the North East states have been affected by the insecurity, with Borno alone accounting for about 4 million. Well over 3,500 people have been killed since January 2014 in dozens of attacks across the North East and sporadic but intensive suicide bombing attacks in Kano, Jos and Bauchi. The prevailing insecurity has displaced up to 350,000 persons, with cross-border implications in neighbouring Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. It has also severely impacted the population’s livelihoods and social support systems. The displaced population are living mostly in host communities further straining pre-existing poverty conditions in those communities and placing pressure on scarce resources such as arable land. An estimated 4.2 million people are food insecure and Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Level 3 was expected by the United Nations and other development partners operating in the Northeastern states. Service provisions, particularly health services and education, have been affected. At present, a number of health facilities in some affected Local Government Areas (LGAs) are considered non-functional. (United Nations Integrated Support Package for the North East 2014)

The brazen abduction of over 200 school-age girls in Chibok, Borno, on 14 April 2014 and the bombing of the UN House in Abuja received wide condemnation and were adjudged as flagrant violations of basic human rights. However, the deadly attacks continued unabated across the North East and further afield, including car bomb explosions on the outskirts of Abuja, and central Jos, Plateau States. These exposed the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan to significant domestic and international pressure to act swiftly against this group and to secure the release of these abducted young women.

The recent months following the inception of the new administration have witnessed a surge in violent attacks and alleged human rights violations as the government intensifies its military offensive against the group Since the inception of the insurgency, the government has made a persistent effort to respond with military offensive supported with less intensive effort in dialogue with the group.

However, any dispassionate observer wouldn’t fail noticing the ineffectiveness of the current military strategy designed to tackle this security threat. Every gain in successive military offensive has been wiped out with corresponding suicide bombing of soft targets or violent reprisal against remote villages by Boko Haram cells planted mostly behind military offensive lines. The engagements of local vigilante groups as well as the alleged use of foreign mercenaries are pointers to the difficult challenges confronting the Nigerian armed forces in its efforts to effectively defeat this group.

The critical ingredient lacking in the government’s effort to respond to the insurgency is the absence of a clearly articulated comprehensive strategic framework in dealing with the Boko Haram insurgency. Such strategy should comprise, in part, a definitive political objective from the perspective of national security and from which is deduced military tactical responses, the concept of operation and rules of engagement.

If the strategic objective of the government is to militarily degrade and defeat this group, then, that will require a distinctive set of rules of engagement and concept of operation by the military both in the long and short term. Conversely, if the strategic objective of the government is to politically resolve and negotiate a cessation of violence and resolution to the crisis, then a different military concept of operations and rules of engagement would be required both in the short and long term. This will also influence the sophistication and complexity of arms and weaponry required and intensity of deployment of military capability and the depth of operations. Ordinarily, deployment is influenced on a graduated scale of the perceived threat and serves as a deterrent to violation of national security. The current military operations lend no credible indications of purpose and objective other than to defeat the insurgency. This poses a huge dilemma for the army as the war is mostly internal and executed by local national actors within the region and with variegated external support. Increasing reports on high civilian causalities and allegations of violations of human rights by the military are the consequences of a lack of strategic purpose.

In the context of a civil or conventional war, the Nigerian Army has the capability to defeat this group. However, this is an insurgency war being carried out by a terrorist group embedded within the civilian population and within our national boundaries. Therefore, the latitude of the military for forceful engagement is highly constrained.

The modus operandi adopted by Boko Haram is different; their strategic intent is very amorphous; and their tactical focus is evidently unpredictable. Reinforcing these added advantages over the military is the fact that, its command structure is very consistent with its strategy and aligned with the type of war they are fighting. And from operational and tactical balance, their weapons are lighter but deadly and they are faster to mobilise and deploy for effectiveness.

Compared with our military, they hold tactical and strategic advantages in the nature of this conflict. They don’t hold territory. And when they do so, it is only to divert attention to enable them to carry out suicide bombings in locations not covered by the military and also to source supplies. With the capacity to infiltrate and create dormant cells and activate them when needed, Boko Haram has evolved a complex network of credible capacity to undermine our national security in the event of further protraction of this conflict.

An understanding of the structure of this group will offer insight into the difficulties of military operations and why political negotiation is the best option. Terrorist or insurgency groups are mostly structured as follows; at the top is the political leadership which drives and provides the political impetus for the insurgency. They could be made up of a group of people or one dominant person. This group also mobilises resources to fund the insurgency. They can be within the public domain or hidden and operating from the background.

The next layer is the top military commander who is usually the face of the insurgency and takes instructions from the top political leadership of the group. This is the spot occupied by Abubakar Shekau of Boko Haram and the Sam Bokari of the RUF and Bin Laden of Al Qaida etc. These are usually the targets for counter-insurgency and are easily replaced when assassinated or killed in combat. Below the top military commander are arrays of horizontally differentiated command cells and units that are headed by the strategic core of middle-rank commanders. These are the group that carries out most of the terror attacks and are embedded mostly within the communities. Then the next group is the operational or tactical core. These are the foot soldiers that carry out the actual terror attacks. The strategic core that heads these differentiated field cells operates with relative independence.

Most of the effort of the military has been on the top military commander and his fighters. Even if the top commander is killed, a replacement is easily found from the strategic core.

Terrorist groups that consolidate the military leadership with the political leadership are easily destroyed once that leader is killed or assassinated but those that differentiate and separate these two structures are usually difficult to destroy. Boko Haram has the latter structure – a hidden political leadership but an evident top military commander supported by a horizontally differentiated but embedded strategic core of middle-rank commanders. However, developing strategic responses that deplete the source of recruitment weakens the tactical or operational core of the group. Such can be done by a combination of targeted military operations and a system of disinformation and economic assistance programs. There are no indications that the current strategy reflects this approach.

Furthermore, any negotiation with this group must always test if the political will can be translated into command and control otherwise no agreement reached can be implemented by the top military command. This explains why you can hear that an agreement has been reached with the group but then within the next hour follows successive spate of bombings to indicate that no agreement was reached!

It is instructive to note that the opportunities to have curtailed or defeated this group at inception were lost early in the crisis by the irresponsible partisan politicisation of the crisis and the absence of leadership for decisive action. These factors allowed the group to fester and grow in complexity and sophistication far beyond what our national security apparatus and military capacity can deal with all alone.

Defeating home-grown insurgency groups has historically proven to be difficult. And experience in many countries such as Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Peru, Colombia, Spain, Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel etc shows that the army has never defeated guerrilla insurgency. Countries that have done so have resorted to a combination of intensive military operations and concerted political negotiation directed at resolving the conflict. In such cases, the strategic objective of the military action is to force the group to negotiate. However, nations that have persisted with military option only, have had to contend with protracted armed resistance at significant cost to national revenue and human life. Colombia, Afghanistan and Iraq and Spain are typical examples. Some of these countries like Peru, which later adopted a combination of military, political negotiation and economic development strategy, have made greater success. Colombia has recently adopted this strategy.

Boko Haram cannot be allowed to remain a festering sore on our collective sense of national security, peace and stability. The longer this conflict protracts, it mutates in complexity and variance of attacks such as hostage of hotels and tourism facilities by a small band of armed groups as was the case in the Taj Maha Hotel in India or Tunisia of a recent, bombing of a congested road traffics during rush hours etc.

The effectiveness of the Nigerian army is even more compromised by corruption, weak leadership, awesome presence of “fifth horsemen”, and inconsistency in command structure as well as the absence of coherent rules of engagement. The army has got to contend with allegations of brutality against local communities and severe criticisms from Amnesty International and other international human rights organisations as well as local organised Civil Society. The military can’t fight on both fronts! For the army to make an appreciable impact over this group it has to become and operate like them – the army has to become a guerrilla army – an ugly prospect no reasonable nation will contemplate.

The military needs to be supported by smart political and civil affairs officers whose focus would be on assisting manage the military-civilian relationships in the region as well provide proactive information on the outcome of every operation. This group will help counter allegations of human rights abuses by the military; provide informed civilian face to the military operation and articulate the credible position of the military thereby reducing questions of source credibility.

Nations don’t arm their armies to fight and kill their people. Our army is established to protect and defend the territorial integrity of the country and to ward off external aggression. The use of the army in engaging in home-grown terrorism represents a forced option due to the failure of successive governments to cultivate and develop effective national security institutions in response to emerging contemporary security challenges.

Years of underfunding of the national police and other specialised security agencies such as the mobile police forces and intelligence agencies by the government have resulted in the overuse of the army – our last defence bastion – in all sorts of policing and internal security challenges. The government’s response to this vacuum is the use of aberrant institutional arrangements known as the Joint Task Force. The JTF is an institutional nightmare whose only focus is to create a common structure for sharing security votes. The nation is littered with a series of Joint Task Forces which have failed in accomplishing the set objectives underlining their establishment. On the contrary, they have become permanent features of our national security framework and very steep in corruption that local communities particularly in the Niger Delta abhor their presence.

A protracted insurgency conflict will see the military risk compromising its integrity through infiltration. Its legitimacy as an institution, eroded as more and more civilian causalities are recorded. This will result in its credibility being questioned by local and international stakeholders. The cumulative outcome will be, declining morale among the rank and file of the armed forces, weakening of trust in leadership and lack of support from the affected communities. Reports of mutiny and reluctance by the soldiers to engage Boko Haram is one of the pointers to declining morale in the military due to erosion of honour. When honour is absent in military leadership, troop mutiny is inevitable.

The recent use of local vigilante groups is a pointer to a lack of confidence in the communities and a prospect fraught with future risk. These groups may provide assistance with regard to knowledge of local terrains and support military operations in the short term; however, they may become the next boko haram or may team up with them against the army in the long run. They will also become difficult to disarm and demobilise in the event of cessation of hostilities. Untrained groupings usually resist relinquishing power after tasting its benefit. Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan evolved out of a similar arrangement during the war with the Soviets and so also the kamajors of Serra Leone who became more difficult within the context of the conflict in that country.

The answer to ending this insurgency lies within a comprehensive political negotiation facilitated by reliable external mediation arrangement and anchored on credible guarantors trusted by both parties. It is tough and time-consuming work but it is achievable. It may not be the most palatable and generally acceptable option but it is the most reasonably expedient option which demands unwavering political leadership and will.

The government should persist in exploring options for intensive political negotiation to resolve this conflict. The tasking and challenging nature of this option is the reason most people resort to the military option. Invariably the military option in itself presents an asymmetrical response which compounds the conflict. The military cannot be used to resolve a conflict that is political nor can the military effectively engage an amorphous local armed group with a horizontally differentiated command and control structure targeting unspecified locations. Political negotiation remains the most optimal strategy for guaranteeing sustained peace and security in the region and for the country. Amnesty may definitely be granted regardless of how some people may feel about it. We are not contending with the legitimacy of rights but more with acquired rights. The issue isn’t justice. The issue is peace and security.

Therefore, it is against this background that the series of visits by the new President to neighbouring countries of Chad, Niger and Cameroon are vital. But the objective of these visits must not only be to secure military cooperation frameworks but also to provide the nascent platform for a concerted and coordinated international and regional political framework for resolving the crisis.

Nigeria must take leadership in defining the strategy and then secure the regional and international bilateral and multilateral support required to bring an end to this conflict. The nation can’t go seeking help without a clearly defined strategy. This was probably the major difficulty encountered by the previous administration, which, failing to articulate a clear strategy could not mobilise the support needed from lead-bilateral nations. The present government must establish a team of dedicated Nigerians working on this assignment with clear terms of reference and a specific time frame. This is not a task for partisan politicians or bureaucrats in government who are comfortable with the process as opposed to the results. The embarrassing lack o experience was demonstrated under the previous administration when a senior government spokesperson rushed to announce to the country and the whole world that an agreement was reached with Boko- Haram without validating the legitimacy of the group purportedly representing Boko Haram nor caring to demand that political-will be demonstrated by the release of the chibok girls.

This is not a task for partisan politicians or bureaucrats in government who are comfortable with the process as opposed to the results.

Nigeria has highly qualified and experienced citizens who have worked with the United Nations or other multilateral international agencies with expertise in negotiating with insurgency groups. Most have served as Special Representatives for the Secretary General of the United Nations and can bring their expertise and network of contacts in facilitating the political negotiation process. The government should reach out to this pool of expertise and harness its experience. It is also inconceivable that Nigerian cannot find prominent northern politicians and religious leaders who have the capacity to identify the political leadership of Boko-Haram or their proxies for the purposes of initiating a negotiation process. The new president has access and assets to locate help from the political and religious leaders of the north. President Yar’Adua demonstrated this with regard to the Niger Delta Amnesty. There is no doubt that the current President has the clout too.

This war cannot be everybody’s war to lead. It is a war Nigeria must lead to win with the support of relevant stakeholders. Government must be clear in the role it wants the regional actors to play as well as those of the international bilateral and multilateral actors. A strategically layered approach is relevant in this context. The regional partners could play a vital role in providing intelligence, cutting off supply sources, denying them bases and participating in a joint military operation. Some may opt to play a political role in facilitating the mediation process. Such nations shouldn’t be coerced into military operations as their neutrality will be an asset in facilitating the mediation process.

The international bilateral nations can also provide sophisticated equipment for intelligence, tracing the origin of weaponry, and training and cutting off international finance to Boko Haram. Some may use their good relations to put pressure on the regional partners to play a vital role. France is in a good position to play this role considering its historical ties with Chad, Niger and Cameroon. Some other nations may act as guarantors and custodians for any agreement reached with Boko Haram. These will include countries that can bear considerable pressure on the identified political leadership of Boko Haram and the Nigerian government to ensure parties fulfil their respective commitment under any agreement that may be negotiated.

It is significant that in his inaugural speech, President Buhari touched on the critical challenge of insecurity in the North East and with regard to the Boko Haram insurgency. He did indicate the relocation of the military operation base from Abuja to Borno. This step sounds reasonable with tactical and operational advantages. For one, it demonstrates ground presence. However from a long-term strategic perspective, much needs to be done. Recognizing that this speech doesn’t represent the fullness of the administration’s strategy for tackling the menace of Boko Haram, there is, however, the risk of underestimating the complexity of the conflict in this region.

The Presidency need not make the mistake of conceiving that military operation alone will sufficiently deal with this challenge. There is considerable concern that the background and experience of this presidency may predispose the government to this error. The group is a lot more complex and has festered longer than Maitasine and has grown in sophistication and with a complex network of operational and tactical capabilities. The group has dormant cells in the country which makes one wonder if they relocate to any other part of the country, will the government also relocate its command and operational HQ? This is unrealistic and comes at a huge set-up cost.

According to World Development Report published by the World Bank 2011, most conflicts cost an average developing country roughly 30 years of GDP growth and in a protracted crisis, most fall over 20 percentage points behind in overcoming poverty. Nigeria shouldn’t be in this unenviable position. It is expensive buying peace but more costly to fight a futile and endless war. The economic and social cost of this insurgency is yet to be determined but it doesn’t require too much economic analysis for anyone to begin to appreciate the cost the nation is incurring in this conflict and its implication on its economic outlook. Recently the country has had to borrow US1 billion to provide the military with the necessary equipment required. A report by the Institute of Economics and Peace projects the cost of violence containment in Nigeria at 5.5% of its GDP and this may increase to 8 or 10% of the GDP given the current military expenditure requirements in the event of a protracted escalation of the conflict.

The Northeast has been a source of major agricultural food supplies including fish, grains and other vegetables. The average cost of fresh tomatoes has increased by more than 150% since the escalation of the insurgency. Interestingly every truckload of agricultural produce from this region could potentially be carrying arms to support the establishment of terrorist cells in other parts of the country. Insecurity in the region coupled with severe security checkpoints is a major constraint for the movement of people, goods and services.

The broad strategic framework required in dealing with this menace will include credible military deterrent and offensive capability as well as a comprehensive socio-economic development framework for the region. The stick must be strong and credible so also the carrot must be attractive. Both of these must be anchored on evolving political frameworks with demonstrated political will to resolve this conflict. The political will must be mobilized and demonstrated between and among every political divide in this nation. The era of partisan politicking with regard to Boko Haram must stop.

Some people have erroneously perceived negotiation as capitulation and rewarding terrorism. They point to countries that have a policy of non-negotiations with terrorist organisations but they overlook one major difference – these countries do negotiate with internal terrorist organisations but not external ones. And only use specialised units to counter internal terrorism after negotiations have failed. These countries also have extensive networks of intelligence capability to reinforce national security systems. The Nigerian government must make this subtle distinction in its policy towards dealing with Boko Haram. Talks of outright military victory over this group may play to the fancy of political constituents but serious background work, based on a realistic appreciation of the challenges, must commence immediately. While the government need not negotiate from a position of weakness, it is its responsibility to initiate the negotiation process or create conditions that will bring Boko Haram to the negotiation table. Failing to do so, will amount to irresponsible governance and missed opportunities for strategic and bold leadership.

As one of the key elements of any comprehensive strategy by the government, a detailed socio-economic development strategy should respond to alleviating the poverty conditions in the region.

Various studies indicate a multiplicity of factors that led to the rise of terrorism in North East Nigeria. Some of these factors include low levels of education, religious and cultural extremism, corruption of public officials and its impact on development, limited access to credit and finance for enterprise development, limited entrepreneurial culture, over-reliance on federal funds, and the perceived exclusion of the people in the way they are governed etc.

Antecedent conditions to the conflict must be addressed to neutralize the drivers of the insurgency. The vicious cycle of economic hardship has become the most pertinent public policy challenge in present-day Nigeria. The government must recognize the insufficiency of the dual approach of limited political dialogue and intensive military action. Consequently, there is a dominant need for a comprehensive social and economic development strategy to complement the military and political strategy. This must recognize and respond to the complexity of the problem in its design and implementation. In addition, the strategy should address the challenges of underdevelopment in the region and reinforce the dual strategy for peace and stability in the North East. It is evident that peace and security cannot be achieved nor sustained in an environment of depressed economic conditions and social despair.

It was against this backdrop that the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under the previous government initiated the development of a North-East Economic Transformation Initiative with support from a lead bilateral agency. The preliminary initiative aimed to develop a framework of ideas to coalesce and catalyze federal government efforts to revitalize the economies of North East Nigeria. The initiative recognized that the affected states cannot be left to deal with the issues on their own; rather, the framework called for close collaboration between the local, state, federal, government development agencies, private sector and well-intentioned citizens.

Unfortunately, as this process was being promoted, a parallel development framework was commissioned by the former governors of the states of the North East under the leadership of a former Minister. Such a parallel process reflected the deep divide between the past federal government and the governors of the states in the North East. Compounding this process was the role of who should control the finance and funding for the initiative. This pitched the Ministry of Finance and the various government agencies into critical battles over the administration of the funding for the potential program for the Northeast. There shouldn’t be any parallel process under this dispensation. There must be one concerted and coherent process anchored on a credible institutional framework and reporting directly to the presidency.

It is imperative that a distinction be made between program development and implementation management and financial management and procurement as well as Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks. The program succeeds to the extent it is anchored on a credible and transparently accountable governance framework. The inability to evolve a credible governance framework for most programs in the country accounts for the significant failures of strategic interventions in the country. This must be avoided under evolving North East social and economic development strategy.

A credible governance framework must be one that separates program development and implementation management from Financial and Contract Management and procurement as well as Monitoring and evaluation. Any social and economic development strategy for the North East must seek to establish a governance framework that separates these three elements for ease of account management and for delivering development results.

Such institutional arrangements must be receptive to developing partnerships with a whole range of interested development partners. Nigerian bureaucrats have a penchant to close the doors to eternal development support by being opaque in their financial management system. A tremendous amount of resources will be required and one may not rule out the option of a Trust fund mechanism with contributions from various partners and manage by an independent firm of financial managers. This option looks likely given the declining revenue and the need for government to seek external support to complement domestic funding. Government must insist on an institutional arrangement that must deliver development results. Any social and economic development funding for the Northeast should not be an opportunity for the elites from that region to enrich themselves along the line of the embarrassing culture of theft and non-performance that has been the bane of development in the Niger Delta.

The starting point for the socio-economic development strategy for the region must be an area-based needs assessment, covering area-by-area mapping of local communities and their respective needs, the development of emergency humanitarian assistance for the vulnerable population such as women, young girls and the elderly, the formulation and initiation of immediate security stabilization measures targeting high-risk population groups such as unemployed youths, former fighters and the initiation of medium and long term development program targeting reconstruction of community social and physical infrastructure and promotion of alternative livelihood systems such as agro-income generating activities, SME and food security.

The following could consist of integral elements of the social and economic development strategy, (A) Social Programmes; Employment creation, Enterprise development: Agriculture and food security, Youth Empowerment and inclusiveness Initiative, community security stabilization initiative, Tertiary Education Initiative, Community-based social action Initiative (B) Infrastructure Projects; reconstruction and development of roads, Rehabilitation of affected communities: Restoration of basic social services in healthcare, water and sanitation:

The proposed development strategy and programs would complement the current national development policy of the federal government and reflect consistency with the overall national security objective for the region. It would intensively address the development challenges and priorities of the North East region as an essential and integral component of the strategy of the federal government to stabilize the security condition in the region. It should tackle the challenges of poverty, minimize income disparity, promote inclusive growth, and address infrastructure deficits and their impact on food security for the region. This is in addition to the complex challenges of limited institutional processes and systems of governance in the region. Above all, it would be conceived as contributing to the overall security stabilization and improvement in the quality of life for communities and target populations of the various states in North East Nigeria.

While this evidence suggests a multi-sector strategy, the design must focus on those sectors that are catalytic and hold the potential for significant growth and maximum impact within the region. However, the overarching rationale must be to address the development challenges in the North East by promoting meaningful and sustained improvement in the quality of life in the region. Careful planning is essential given the complexity of the situation.

Furthermore, situations of insecurity and violence demand that economic planning cannot be within the medium and long-term horizon as obtainable under normal development planning. Rather, planning has to be expedient and incremental, recognizing that the intervention may not be the most efficient. Therefore, it is expedient that program intervention strategy must be phased into short-term quick wins to demonstrate government commitment to the target populations in North East that the federal government is concerned about over the development of the region. Thereafter, the carefully planned medium to long-term initiatives will ensure sustainable development in the region. However, the quick wins must be structured as part of the longer-term initiatives. In fact, they should be seen as the short-term components of medium/long-term initiatives.

The following design principles and considerations should guide the formulation of the social and economic development strategy:

• Gap Identification: The development strategy must identify gaps within the development priorities of the various states in the region and must recognize differing starting points and needs of the various states and communities in the region.

• Regional Planning Tools: It must apply regional development planning tools such as spatial mapping of needs in the region, rapid appraisal methodologies etc, in the formulation of the programmes as well as suggest cross-border initiatives to respond to increasing sub-regional dimensions to the security challenges in the North East.

• Equity and Regional Sensitivity: The design process must be guided by equity principles to avoid exacerbating geo-political and social inequity in the region. This is also to cultivate cultural and religious sensitivity with the target population of the region.

• Transparency and Accountability Framework: The design process must integrate systems of accountability and transparency in the program governance framework.

• Area-based and Area-specific Planning: The approach in the design must demonstrate area-based planning which promotes targeting intervention measures to respond to the specific needs of the specific target population in a clearly defined location area.

• Participatory Approach: The design and planning as well as implementation must be rooted in the principle of broad stakeholder participation at state, local government and community levels.

• Flexibility in targeted and demand-driven Approach: The delivery strategy must strike a balance between the need to meet the needs of specific high-risk and vulnerable groups as well as promote the capacity for social action.

Finally retooling strategic responses to resolve the insurgency and restoring peace and security as preconditions for development remains a strategic option the federal government must pursue with the rigour and vigour of dedicated staff of multi-disciplinary teams. Re-evaluation of options is an essential part of responsible governance when the will and leadership are evident. A robust military deployment capability, a dedicated capacity for political dialogue and a comprehensive socio-economic development program – all anchored on demonstrated political will, constitute a comprehensive and concerted strategic response towards resolving the insurgency in the North-East – a viable and tested option the government must pursue.

PRESS RELEASE – Currency Swap: The Counter Directive Of APC Governors Treasonable

0
The APC Governors
The APC Governors

As a Civil Society Organization, we sincerely align ourselves to the position of Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu and others when they asserted that Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are committing Treason against Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Nigeria, being a sovereign nation, has the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) as its grundnorm, specifying in clear and unambiguous terms how Nigeria should be governed.

The 1999 Constitution assigns different roles to the three tiers of government, namely: the Federal Government, State Government, and Local Government.

By the express provision of Section 4(2) of the 1999 Constitution, the National Assembly shall have the power to make laws for the peace, order and good government of the Federation or any part thereof with respect to any matter included in the Exclusive list set out in Part 1 of the Second Schedule to the Constitution, while Section 5(1)(a-b) of the Constitution donates the Executive Powers to the President and the President shall exercise the laws made by the National Assembly and shall extend his powers to the execution and maintenance of the Constitution, all laws made by the National Assembly and to all matters with which the National Assembly has the power to make laws.

To make the powers of the President clearer, Section 130(1) of the Constitution provides thus: “There shall be for the Federation a President” and Section 130(2) provides that “The President shall be the Head of State, the Chief Executive of the Federation and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation”.

Having set the background, let us take a cursory look at paragraphs 6 and 15 of Part 1 of the Second Schedule to the 1999 Constitution, which are items in the Exclusive list and as has been demonstrated above, it is the President, not the State Governors, that has the exclusive powers to execute items in the Exclusive list.

The items in paragraph 6 of the Exclusive are banks, banking bills of exchange, and promissory notes, while the items in paragraph 15 of the Exclusive list are: Currency, Coinage and Legal Tender.

It is also very clear from the above-cited provisions of the Constitution that it is incumbent upon the President to execute all other laws enacted by the National Assembly and in this case, the Central Bank of Nigeria Act (CBN Act).

Section 17 of the CBN Act provides that “The Bank shall have the sole right of issuing currency notes and coins throughout Nigeria and neither the Federal Government nor any State Government, Local Government, other person or authority shall issue currency notes, bank notes or coins or any documents or token payable to bearer on demand being document or token which are likely to pass as legal tender”.

Section 19(1)(b) of the CBN Act provides that “The currency notes and coins issued by the Bank shall be of such forms and designs and bear such devices as shall be approved by the President on the recommendation of the Board”.

Section 20(1) of the CBN Act provides that “The currency notes issued by the Bank shall be the legal tender in Nigeria at their face value for payment of any amount” while subsection 3 of section 20 of the Act provides “… the Bank shall have power, if so directed by the President and after giving reasonable notice in that behalf, to call in any of its notes or coins on payment of the face value thereof and any note or coin with respect to which a notice has been given under this subsection shall, on the expiration of the notice, cease to be the legal tender, but subject to section 22 of this Act, shall be redeemed by the Bank upon demand”.

From the above provisions of the CBN Act, it is abundantly clear without any equivocation that it is the CBN that has the responsibility and power to issue a Legal Tender for Nigeria and to redesign any denomination of the Legal Tender, fixing of the deadline for cessation of validity of any Legal Tender under the directive of the President pursuant to sections 19()(1b) and 20(3) of the CBN Act.

Arising from the above provisions of the laws, can the Central Bank of Nigeria on its own volition call for Legal Tender redesign and a deadline for the use of the old Legal Tender without the approval of the President? The answer with respect is a capital NO!

How then will the APC GOVERNORS be issuing contrary directives on the use of old Naira Notes when they do not have such powers either donated to them by the 1999 Constitution, the Acts of the National Assembly or even a law from their States Houses of Assembly?

The contrary directives issued by the APC GOVERNORS that the old Naira Notes should continue to be a Legal Tender in their various states when the President had through the CBN issued a directive in that respect are treasonable. The contrary orders from the APC GOVERNORS are not only unconstitutional, unlawful, and illegal but also highly inciteful,  thereby aiding the populace to wedge war against the Federation.

The APC GOVERNORS cannot hide under the IMMUNITY CLAUSE as enshrined under section 308 of the 1999 Constitution to be engaging in treasonable activities against the Sovereignty of this nation.

Consequently, the APC GOVERNORS should know that times do not run out against any crime committed against the Federation.

As a Civil Society Organisation, we respectfully call on the security agencies in the country and all international organisations including foreign embassies to take notice of all the treasonable activities of the APC GOVERNORS instigating the citizens of this country through their unguided and inciteful speeches to take up arms against the Federation.

They should be held responsible for all the crises that broke out as a result of their inciteful pronouncements against the policy of NAIRA REDESIGN, which has occasioned wanton destruction of lives and properties across the country.

We also call on all the security agencies to live up to their primary duty of safeguarding lives and properties and ensuring that these APC GOVERNORS do not derail this democratic process of transiting power to other democratically elected persons.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES, Friday, February 24th 2023, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD DSc DD

YOUR LOVE FOR HIM

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead (2 Corinthians 5:14).

The love Paul had for the Lord was the drive behind his overwhelming passion to preach, defend and stand on the truth of the Gospel. Read Galatians 2:11-13 NKJV and see how he defended the truth to Peter. He said, “Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.”

In the 20th verse, he said, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” What a conviction! It was about his love for the Lord.

Christ’s love for us, which was demonstrated in His vicarious death, must elicit from us such love as Paul writes about here, and as John says in 1 John 4:19 NKJV: “We love Him because He first loved us.” How much do you love Him?

It’s important that every so often, you open your heart to Him in prayer, and tell Him, “Lord Jesus, I love you with all my heart, today and forever; this is what I want to do—loving you and doing your Word.” Your love for Jesus Christ means more to God than anything you could ever give to Him. So, love Him with all your heart and prove it in keeping His Word.

CONFESSION
Lord Jesus, I love you; I really do, with all my heart and forever; this is what I live for—loving you and doing your Word. I’m constrained by my love for you, to preach the Gospel and spread it with urgency around the world. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 5:3 AMPC
For the [true] love of God is this: that we do His commands [keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching]. And these orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous).

We love him because he first loved us.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 24TH FEBRUARY.

I affirm that I am an offspring of the Word, and my life is filled with the beauty of the Spirit! Forever, O Lord, your Word is settled in my life. It’s settled in my business, settled in my finances, settled in my ministry, settled in my health, settled in my family, settled in all that concerns me. Hallelujah!

My life is an endless stream of the supernatural because I live in the Name of Jesus. I’ve been given the power of attorney to use the Name of Jesus over the devil and the cohorts of hell, and dominate circumstances. I am seated together with Christ in the place of power; far above all principalities, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come. Hallelujah!

Jesus is the Lord of my life; therefore, I live in dominion over sin, sickness and infirmities, and every opposing force, accusation or hindrance. Irrespective of the perils and tribulations around the nations of the world, I am shielded and protected; I am like a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out her roots by the river. I don’t know when heat comes because I dwell in the secret place of the Most High!

I am healthy, strong, and prosperous; I make great and glorious things happen in my life, in God’s kingdom, and in the lives of others, to the glory of Jesus Christ. I am up and alive; fruitful and productive by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am complete in Christ; nothing is lacking in my life, because Christ is my completeness! I am from above; therefore, I refuse to condescend to this earthly plane of life. As Jesus is, so am I in this world. Hallelujah!

I am in charge; I’m living an exceptionally great life which the Father had prepared for me. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

How Obi and the youths will win with structure

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party of Nigeria, mr Perter Obi seen here in a rally enjoying massive support from the ObiDients

Obi Kererenke! Obi!! Kererenke….

The candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, will win Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election hands down. This assertion is in line with polls after polls—both local and foreign—which have predicted that the former Anambra State governor will emerge victorious.

Instead of reading the handwriting on the wall and accepting that its time has passed, Nigeria’s corrupt oligarchies have been restless. Its politicians are restless, looking for any reason to dampen the spirit of Obi’s supporters, popularly known as the Obidients. Since the Labour Party flagbearer has no baggage, his opponents have resorted to a campaign of calumny. If they are not inciting violence, they are peddling fake news to confuse or lower the morale of the Obidients.

The most notable of the falsehood is that Obi would not win because he has no “structure”. To the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the structure represents a nationwide corrupt network through which they had always bought votes with money.

But the gospel truth is that Peter Obi will win because of structure, but this structure is different. It is the unique structure of his supporters.

The Obedient structure is broad. They are people of different Nigerian ethnic groups and religions united for a common purpose. They are spread across the country and are determined to come out en masse to guard their votes.

The Obidient structure is organic and anchored by the youths, who make up a significant chunk of the Nigerian electorate. Most of these youths are new voters who registered because they want to change. The Obidient is not only a movement, but it has also become the pop culture of our time. Obi Kererenke! Obi…

More, unlike their opponents, the supporters of the Labour Party flagbearer are proud of their cause. They are very passionate, enthusiastic, and proud of their presidential candidate, Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed. They are proud because their candidacy hinges on equity, integrity, fairness, character, competence, capacity, and progress.

The Obi supporters are propelled by an enlightened structure. They recognize that this election is a struggle between good and evil. They are angry about how they have been misled over the years by both the APC and the PDP.  They view the election as do-or-die for their future and nothing will stop them from voting. They are voting for a good cause and the world is behind them.

Unlike their opponents who are known to pay their supporters for rallies, the Obidient structure is not motivated by money. Unlike their opponents who depend on candidates with looted public funds, the Obidients own and fund their own campaigns. Neither new nor old naira will affect their willingness to come out and vote. Nothing will stop the Obidients from coming out to vote for Peter Obi as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, come February 25, 2023.

Simon Ekpa terrorism from Finland

0
Simon Ekpa responding to a British Journalist In Finland
Simon Ekpa responding to a British Journalist In Finland

There is no running away from the clear and present danger that one man in Finland, a shadowy figure named Simon Ekpa is unleashing bloody terrorism on the people of Southeastern Nigeria. He has continued to insist that no elections should take place in the Zone.

In the wee hours of Monday, February 20, a rampaging gang of youths in their attempt to burn down Awada Police Station near Obosi had a fierce exchange of gunfire with Anambra State security personnel and three of the hoodlums were neutralized.

The same scenario had happened the previous day when some unknown youths attacked the 3-3 Police Station in Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area and five of the gangsters were killed by the state’s gallant security men.

It is not unlikely that these young men in their prime are heeding the call to enforce the sit-at-home directive of Simon Ekpa from faraway Finland in order to violently put on hold the impending polls.

It is noteworthy that Ohanaeze Ndigbo had countered the Simon Ekpa directive by calling on the Igbo nation to ignore the sit-at-home order. A section of Ohanaeze in The Guardian newspaper publication of February 17 stated that Simon Ekpa by his utterances and actions has assumed the toga of a terrorist and sponsor of terrorism in Nigeria.

This assertion is not far from the truth given the recent upsurge of attacks in the Southeast where misguided young men have met their untimely death while attacking police stations and INEC offices. The uncountable destruction of property cannot be tolerated in any society whatsoever.

The Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) that Simon Ekpa claims to be working for has serially denounced his murderous directives and stated that the spilling of fellow Igbo blood in the name of the struggle is sacrilegious in Igbo land. Even the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has made known his displeasure over the unconscionable killings that have no place in the culture of the Igbo people.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, represented by his Minister of State, Zubairu Dada, recently summoned the Finish Ambassador, Leena Pylvanainen, to discuss Simon Ekpa’s directives which have culminated in the destruction of lives and property in the Southeast. At that meeting, the Finnish Ambassador was told by his host that “enough is enough” with regards to Mr Ekpa’s incitements and taking advantage of the ignorance of some of these youths to visit mayhem on Igbo land.

The Ambassador’s response appears to be begging the issue when she said that the “Finnish government was already investigating the threats to determine how the matter fits into the legal framework of Finland, given that Mr Ekpa is a Nigerian-Finnish citizen”.

In any case, the Finnish Ambassador assured that her government will not “trade with anything” that will jeopardize their relationship with Nigeria.

This happens to be the time for the government of Finland to make good the words of its Ambassador if they truly value their relationship with Nigeria. Bilateral relations between friendly nations such as Nigeria and Finland must not be truncated on the bloody charge of a miscreant such as Simon Ekpa.

It is a big travesty of our time that people are dying and properties are being decimated in Nigeria on account of a directive by somebody sitting pretty in faraway Finland, one of the most peace-loving countries of the world. This is one situation that the Finns will not tolerate in their own country.

On the part of Nigeria, the government should expedite action on the diplomatic front for the extradition of Simon Ekpa from Finland to Nigeria to face the due process of the law. The Federal Government should not relent on the effort, otherwise, Simon Ekpa would be seen as a kind of sacred cow being protected in a mercenary manner by some subterranean forces.

It should prick the conscience of the Finnish government that so much blood is being spilt in Nigeria on the orders of a dangerous terrorist being harboured and protected in their land. It is incumbent on the Finnish government to do something drastic about Simon Ekpa’s nuisance.

Nigeria is poised to hold a consequential election, and nothing should be allowed to compromise the election in a manner that may end up destabilizing Africa’s most populous country. If by omission or commission Simon Ekpa is allowed to serve as an agent of the destabilization of Nigeria, the entire West African sub-region may be completely ruined.

2023: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome predicts the winner of Nigeria’s presidential election

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome revealed what an “Angel of God” told him about the three presidential candidates.

With the 2023 presidential election a week away, the General Overseer of Christ Embassy Church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has shared his thoughts on the aspirants.

At the Loveworld Praise-action on Friday, Mr Oyakhilome revealed what an “Angel of God” told him about the leading candidates.

In detail, the cleric distinguished between the three significant candidates in the forthcoming election and stated the name of Nigeria’s next president is in the Bible.

The leading candidates for Saturday’s presidential election are Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

A Demon, A Thief, A Saint

Describing the first candidate, The 59-year-old cleric said the first candidate was under the influence of a devil.

“He is not himself. He is under the influence of a devil. This devil was mocking and laughing, scoffing at Nigerians.”

“The devil is using him. It’s a wicked spirit of darkness, a mocker. The devil’s named him a jackal.”

“A jackal is a trickster, a swindler who usually operates on behalf of another for deception. This demon is mocking Nigeria. But he’s been cut off.”

On the second candidate, he claimed that the spiritual prophecy revealed him to be a thief and would run the country down.

“In the spirit of the second candidate, if you let him get into office, you will have no country. You would have sold your country,” he said.

On the final candidate, he revealed although his name is in the bible, he is scared of winning but doesn’t want to lose.

”Then, in the spirit, the third candidate was afraid of winning. He didn’t want to lose, but he was scared of winning. Then I prayed, Lord gives him wings to fly! His name is in the Bible.” He said.

Closing the talks on politics, he asked if his members had gotten a PVC. He said, “Hope you’ve gotten your PVC?”

Reactions

Following the clergy’s predictions, Nigerians have taken to social media to deduce the candidates he refers to as “being under the influence of a devil”, “the thief and would run the country down”, and the “one whose name is in the Bible”.

Out of the three candidates above, only Peter Obi has the same name as a bible character who was one of Jesus’ disciples.

As Tinubu goes to the election with bribery hope

3
Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Bola Ahmed Tinubu

In a normal clime, Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be doing time in prison instead of dreaming to become Nigeria’s president. What a country…

The man in question is well known to have no legitimate source for his billions. Yet, he brandishes the latest samples of private jets, launders money in bullion vans, and once boasted to be richer than a whole state. The first serious attempt to trace the source of his wealth resulted in a narcotics case, where he eventually forfeited a whopping sum of $460,000 to the authorities in the United States of America. Nigeria’s anticorruption agency followed by declaring at a Senate hearing that the degree of Tinubu’s corruption is one of an “international dimension.”

Combine the above with the fact that no known Nigerian can vouch for the authenticity of his biographical details, such as name, age, parents, state of birth and origin, schools attended and certificates received.

Also, consider that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not only challenged by old age and stark ill-health, but his public outings also do not portray a man who is physically or mentally fit for any serious assignment, let alone the presidency of a country.

Yet, the same character is desperate to lead Nigeria. Even worse, Tinubu refuses to answer simple questions about his past or present. He refuses to take questions from the press. He refuses to participate in debates with other candidates.

The reason for the arrogance is not far-fetched: As in the past, Tinubu is counting on a bribery hope. Having snatched the APC presidential ticket with the influence of money bags, he is hoping to do the same at the general elections.

And he makes no apology for his unending sins. Since emerging as the APC flagbearer, he has been caught in open daylight along with his family members influencing voters with money. Of course, these practices are illegal, but his financial muscle seems to place him above the law. To that end, he was boasting that he was headed to victory.

But “every day is for the thief, but one day is for the owner.” Nigeria suddenly redesigned its currency along with stringent rules. Part of the target is corrupt politicians who have stockpiled cash to influence the 2023 elections. The implication is that Tinubu’s dream of becoming president has taken a harsh hit.

But the situation has also exposed the true Tinubu. It has become clearer that he is not only the most arrogant, immodest, dictatorial, autocratic, and most diabolic presidential hopeful, but also the most narcissistic, shadiest, and the most shameless politician in Nigerian history.

This is a man who has stood firmly behind all the policies of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), which have been adjudged as the most inhuman and atrocious in the nation’s democratic journey. Shamelessly, because the currency policy inadvertently punctured his bribery hope, the same Tinubu and his associates are suddenly criticizing their own government, acting as if somehow they care for the ordinary people. But that is not all.

Tinubu sees the election as do-or-die, regardless of the consequences. To sustain his bribery hope, his agents are alleged to be buying up the new naira notes at a higher rate, as seen in viral video clips. This goes to worsen the scarcity of legal tender in the land, which has left the ordinary people helpless.

But the Nigerian masses have become wiser. They now know to pocket the bribery money and still vote their conscience. They know to finally make election bribery a vain hope.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES, Thursday, February 23rd. 2023 BY Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD DSc

HIS NATURE IN US

Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy (Ephesians 4:24 NLT).

In Ephesians 5:1, we’re admonished to be “imitators of God” as His beloved children. His life and nature in us makes this possible. We can walk in absolute mastery and dominion in the earth as Jesus did, for as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).

Being born again, you’re born after the Second Adam, Jesus Christ; you were created after Him in righteousness and true holiness. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature….” This new creature has the God-nature. This is the reason you can please God and live the Christ-life.

No matter how much you train a dog to act like a human, it can never be human, because it doesn’t have the human life. To be human, you have to be born that way. We’re Godlike, and can emulate our heavenly Father, because we were born with His life and nature in us. It’s the reason we can do the same things Jesus did.

He said in John 14:12, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do….” You can heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers and cast out devils as Jesus did. He gave you the authority in His Name.

Moreover, we can emulate Him in our love-walk. Ephesians 5:2 says, “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.” His nature in you makes it possible to express love to those in your world, whether or not they deserve it. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

My divine nature causes me to live, love and talk like my heavenly Father; the beauty and compassion of Jesus is seen in and expressed through me, for as He is, so am I in this world.

FURTHER STUDY:
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

#KeepSayingIt – Thursday, 23rd February 2023

I lift my hands in worship and offer to You my Lord and King sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving from my spirit. I adore You, Lord, for You alone are God, the everlasting King of glory, the only wise and true God, gracious and kind, holy and righteous, ever loving and forgiving. Thank You for blessing me in Christ Jesus. I know who I am.

Greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. I’m walking in divine health, victory, dominion and righteousness. No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper and no illegal transactions can thrive in my body because I’m born of God, and my life is hid with Christ in God. I refuse to be sick! God wants me well, so I declare that I will always be well. I choose health, not sickness. I choose strength, not weakness and I choose life, not death. I am free and I have the life of God in me. I am strong in faith and I give all glory to God.

I’m perfected in Christ Jesus; I refuse to accommodate any sickness, disease or pain in my body because I have the life of God in me! I’ve taken hold of eternal life. It doesn’t matter the trials, pain and difficulties in the world, I am unperturbed because I live in, and by, the Word of God. I declare that I am healthy, well, prosperous and victorious.

My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. My legs are His legs – He moves through me; they will never be lame. My hands are His hands – He works through me; my hands will never be paralyzed. My eyes are His eyes – He sees through me; these eyes will never be blind. My mind is daily renewed by the Word of God – I am mentally sound; I give no room to depression or negative thoughts in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 23RD FEBRUARY.

I affirm that I am an ambassador of Christ, spreading God’s love in my world. His love is perfected in me; it’s heard in my words and seen in my actions because I dwell in God, and God is in me. I am vitalised by the Holy Ghost! No sickness, disease, or infirmity can thrive or survive in my body. The divine life of God is at work in me, in every fibre of my being, in every cell of my blood, and in every bone of my body. I am alive and well, healthy and strong forever, by the Holy Ghost. Hallelujah!

The Spirit of God has separated me from the destruction that ruins men’s lives and the judgment that works in the lives of men, having been identified with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. I am planted in the house of the Lord, my life is like a tree planted by the waters, ever in blossom. I flourish like the palm tree, with grace and glory! My life is programmed by the Word and I am living a life that is full of possibilities. Christ is alive in me; therefore, I see life differently. I see all trials and challenges that come my way as bread. Hallelujah!

No force can defeat me or throw me off balance because greater is He that lives in me than he that is in the world. I am more than a conqueror, and I live each day with confidence, knowing that all of heaven and the power of divinity is working for me, and for my good. I am a burning and a shining light; fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. I am full of passion for extraordinary impact with the Gospel of Christ. I am lifted and transported by the Holy Ghost into the glorious and higher realms of life, where I only see and relate with the realities of the Kingdom. Blessed be God. Hallelujah!

Where will Tinubu win?

0
Bola Tinubu who thinks himself a kingmaker to President Buhari, wants to become king
Bola Tinubu who thinks himself a kingmaker to President Buhari, wants to become king

I have been asking his supporters this question since. He can’t win the South-South where the leaders have publicly endorsed Peter Obi. He can’t win in the South East, the home zone of Peter. He can’t win in the North Central (Middle-Belt) which is prominently Christians who have been persecuted by Boko Haram & Fulani Herdsmen. Benue is a clear example of the commitment & prevailing sentiments of the people of the zone to Peter Obi’s Presidency.

Even in the South West, especially Lagos, it’s a battle between Tinubu & Peter Obi. That’s 3 zones out of 6 where Tinubu can’t win or get the required 25% of the votes cast.

The remaining zones are North East, North West & South West. Unfortunately for Tinubu, the South West is the most educated of the 3 remaining zones whose citizens are literate enough to make independent choices. And to make matters worse for him, Afenifere, Gen Obasanjo & other influential & prominent Yorubas both at home & abroad have openly endorsed Peter Obi & have been working to actualize his Presidency.

Another headache for Tinubu is that the South West is prominently Christian. Bola Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket has been rejected by CAN, the umbrella body for Christians in Nigeria. The implication is that Christians are less likely to vote Tinubu/APC Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Finally, the ability of Tinubu to deploy Bullion Vans to buy votes has been greatly hampered by the latest Buhari/CBN Currency redesign policy. So it’s clear that Tinubu, not even being a respected & beloved politician among the Yoruba of the South West, like Bola Ige, is going to struggle in this election in the South West.

North-East states of Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi & Yola, present a special problem for Tinubu.

1. Huge Christian population.

2. Atiku factor.

Adamawa is a split of 50/50 Chriatian-Muslim population. It’s Atiku’s home State. So the battle will be between Atiku & Peter Obi. Obi will get more than the required 25% of votes cast. APC & Tinubu are mere onlookers here.

Taraba is a Christian State & the Gov has already made public statements that his people are pro-Peter Obi. If anyone is going to take what remains of the vote here, it will be Atiku, not Tinubu with his Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Borno will be interesting for two reasons. It is the home of Shettima, the Muslim running mate of Tinubu. But Borno was never conquered by Uthman Dan Fodio, the jihadist. It’s the reason why it has no Emir. The problem for APC here is that Borno already has a population deeply disenchanted with the poor performance of APC. It was in Maiduguri that the convoy of President Muhammadu Buhari was first stoned.

Borno also has a huge Christian population. Chibok, where Boko Haram kidnapped the girls is a Christian community. Shettima is always in the news talking about the Christians in Borno. It’s not for nothing. Because of their huge population, they are instrumental in who wins the State. And Borno has suffered the most from the Islamic terror group, Boko Haram. Will the Christians of Borno forget the kidnapping of their children by Boko Haram & incessant bombings & still vote for a Muslim-Muslim ticket? This is why Borno will be an interesting place to watch.I want to bet Peter Obi will pick 25% of the Vote cast in Borno.

Gombe is similar to Borno – a huge Christian population. Will the failure of the APC Govt of Buhari & the Christian vote be sufficient for the people of Gombe to give Peter Obi the needed 25% of the vote cast? Nobody knows.

Yobe will likely be a fight between Atiku & APC. Peter Obi doesn’t look to have any chance here at all.

The North West states are APC & Hausa Muslim homes & strongholds. This is what is called the core Muslim North. It has Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Jigawa & Zamfara. It is this zone that provoked the Muslim-Muslim ticket & APC is expected to do well here, not on account of Tinubu’s popularity but bcos it’s Buhari’s zone (he’s from Katsina) & the Islam factor. This is the most educationally disadvantaged zone in the country & the electorate is easily manipulated by religion.

APC is expected to have a landslide victory here for Tinubu. Except in Kaduna.

Unfortunately for Tinubu, Kaduna has a 50/50 Christian/Muslim population. The Christian clergy are already mobilised for Peter Obi & have promised to deliver One Million Votes to Peter Obi.

It is the only State in the North West where Peter Obi will certainly get 25% of the vote cast.

Kano promises to be a battle between Kwakwanso & APC as the man is a son of the soil & probably the only State he can win for his Presidential ambition. What is certain is that APC won’t get a single Christian vote in this zone.

The oppressed indigenous Christian communities of Katsina & Kebbi are not expected to vote for a Muslim-Muslim ticket. Deborah, the student that was murdered in Sokoto by Muslim zealots was an indigenous Christian of Kebbi State.

Finally Abuja. Abuja didn’t vote for APC in the last Presidential Election. There’s no reason it would be on the 25th. The APC Govt has been a catastrophic failure. Peter Obi will have a landslide victory in Abuja. I have taken time to analyse the political terrain & sentiments to show clearly that Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition is overrated. He has zero chance of winning the election.APC cannot come & say he was rigged out or some cabals prevented him from winning. He simply can’t win. The political topography of Nigeria has changed & it has been reconfigured since 2015. That is why his slogan of “Renewed Hope” never gained traction.

In all, the APC has lied its way out of power.

#SeunKuti Exposed:

The lengendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti flanked on his left by his first son, Femi Kuti and on his right by his second son Seun Kuti

Do you know that Seun & Femi Quarrelled for 18 Years After Fela’s Death? Now You know! They only reconciled in 2015. Read the full story: That Reference by Seun Kuti To Peter and Paul Quarreling: Fela vs Femi and Femi vs Seun were No Different.

This post is to show people that no one should laugh or mock others for fights, divorces, break up or quarrels. All religion’s gods had quarrels even with their creatures and co-gods, how much less man. Seun, not his elder brother Femi, has the very Saxophone Fela blew on. That is a sacrilege. That is an insult. The first son inherits the father’s most precious possession.

Fela and Femi never really saw eye to eye. at least for long periods. Femi’s first big song SEARCH YOURSELF was a song against WEED and ALCOHOL and a DIRECT DISRESPECT TO FELA, who was a known weed smoker. The quarrel lasted for years until Femi became an established star with his own band POSITIVE FORCE. Fela was so impressed by Femi’s success, he gave up performing o Sundays (Sunday Jump) to Femi at the Africa Shrine. Still, you must note that it is Seun that inherited Fela’s Legendary band Egypt 80 (Formerly Africa 70)

As regards Seun vs Femi, now calculate. Seun only stepped on stage with Femi in 2015. Fela died in 1997. Seun was already an established musician, performing with Egypt 80 and doing big things at events like the Lekki show and globally while Fela was alive. Fela groomed Seun. It is said that it is Seun that looks like Fela. He was clearly Fela’s favourite.

And if Fela had not overestimated his “godness” to believe he will choose when he will die, enough to change his name to ANIKULAPO, meaning “One who holds death in his pouch” and if he was not an HIV/AIDS denier…. if he had written a will upon his diagnoses, I believe Seun would have gotten even more of Fela’s assets. Note that it is also Seun that lives in the compound in Gbemisola where Fela is buried.

So, why would Seun and Femi step on the same stage for the first time only in 2015?

And the Femi that is speaking of brother’s quarrelling, Femi was the one that made entreaties to Seun for them to UNITE and throw out “PRETENDERS” like DEDE MABIAKU and make them pay Royalties for using Fela’s music.  (respect to Dede. No disrespect intended)

Dede Mabiaku, an Itsekiri man and journalist that interviewed Fela and became besotted with Fela and became somewhat of a Fela publicist and then studied and learnt Afrobeat and began to play instruments etc, became Fela’s YES MAN and FEMI was jealous of the closeness of DEDE to Fela. Dede Mabiaku and his “Warri sense” was soon to notice Fela’s love for Seun and immediately became avuncular to Seun. It was through Seun that Mabiaku continued to have rights to Fela’s music and covering the songs globally. Dede Mabiaku was another not able to make an album or big song without recourse to covering a Fela song.

So Femi beseeched Seun for them to settle. Years earlier, Femi had personally handed Fela’s saxophone to Seun, stating it was Fela’s wish that Seun has it. Can you imagine the hurt a FIRST SON must feel handing the father’s Legendary Sax, something I am certain if auctioned will bring in at least 50 million dollars (Jay Z would bid for sure) to his younger estranged brother when he himself is a saxophonist? Femi was to swallow his pride, act like the BIG BROTHER and continuously beseech the more CANTANKEROUS and BELLIGERENT (To this day, note both brother’s demeanour) Seun that they must unite and so can speak in one accord so they can truly benefit from royalties from the father’s estates. That the whole business partners etc were doing DIVIDE AND RULE.

Seun was to see sense in this (He is a smart boy) and together since then, along with their sister, Yeni and co, present a united front in discussions with foreign and local entities who do business with Fela’s name and music, and even in broadway and movies too.

Their unity also ensured FELABRATION became owned by the Kuti family instead of the strangers that did the first one, with yours truly, while at Alec Music overseeing the video edit and a few other pro bono help to this DREADLOCKED guy (Kupa Victory??? I forget. That is the name that jumped into my mind trying to remember the dude) that did most of the leg work. That show introduced Nigerians to Dbanj and Don Jazzy with their “Tongolo” song and performance. (Clean London boys with shorts and walking sticks and chains. I can never forget them and how we all stared)

Ask yourself why it took Seun and Femi 18 years after their father’s death to perform on the same stage. In fact, eye witness report state the rituals and sacrifices each of them made ..  the chants and incantations before they touched the microphones, obviously for fear of being bewitched by the other, was of ORKIJA SHRINE proportions.

It was on 24 April 2015, and they performed in the concert titled 2 KINGS CONCERT where Seun had to be called a King and made to look like the equal of his much more accomplished brother Femi, who had known national and international MONSTER HITS with his original music and band formed by him (Femi) in a legacy much divorced… as much as possible from Fela.

Note that Femi could be called FELA JR. as his name is also OLUFELA like his dad. But Femi always wanted to be his own man. Now, this was before social media… Facebook, Instagram, Linda Ikeji, Tunde Ednut, Nairaland, GISTLOVER and the much “lesser” Ena Ofugaras and Iwuchukwus. Yet, this much information was available.

Now imagine if all of the above were present then when those who have info can easily inbox GISTLOVER. Imagine how Seun would have reacted to something Femi may not have said.

Imagine how a Dede Mabiaku or others invested in Fela’s music and business would have played their hands That is what Peter and Paul … Psquare and their brother Jude, in the social media age faced. Thank God their own quarrels did not last decades.

My point? God quarrelled with his favourite angel LUCIFER/Azazel. Greek and Roman God tales speak of intense jealousies and fights amongst themselves. Mothers and sons quarrel. Divorces are a thing. Fathers and daughters quarrel. That Psquare had a fight that lasted a while is not something to make a mockery of, especially if anyone, eg Seun Kuti looks at themselves in the mirror, and also views their family history.

Origin of the Currency Saga

President Buhari, APC presidential Candidate Bola Tinubu and malam ElRufai
President Buhari, APC presidential Candidate Bola Tinubu and malam ElRufai

For the sake of these two, Buhari will do everything humanly possible within his powers, to see that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, their APC god, doesn’t win the 2023 presidential election, through the back door. Buhari doesn’t forgive, and nor does he forget. Elrufai cannot plot a Palace coup against Buhari, gang up with 8 other northern governors, form the infamous G9 governors, betray Buhari, and expect Buhari not to fight back as the C-in-C of the country.

He and his likes believed Buhari will forgive them, & accept Tinubu. But the Buhari I know doesn’t forgive. He likes laughing last, & his dangerous laugh is always the loudest. The man will literally be pinching you, & be blowing the area breeze, so you don’t feel the pain too much.

As for Elrufai, he can rant to the high heavens, Buhari no send. Shortly after the 2019 elections, President Buhari started knowing some truths about former president Goodluck Jonathan, and his government. He discovered that almost everything that was sold to him, and said to him about Jonathan were all lies and propaganda. Championed by Elrufai and Tinubu’s camp in APC.

Despite all the efforts Buhari’s government made, in trying to indict Jonathan, they found nothing personally authentic, to hold him with. The pockets of corruption they were able to trace, were traced to his appointees. All the alleged threats, & misuse of state powers, were discovered to be lies. Elrufai lied to Nigerians, while Tinubu was busy using the media to spread propaganda against Jonathan.

But the most shocking of all to Buhari is, Jonathan left the government and kept his mouth shut.

Buhari brought Jonathan closer to himself, instructed all security agencies investigating Jonathan & his family to hand off from it, instructed EFCC to release his wife’s properties, and monies back to her, and Buhari stopped criticizing Jonathan in public ever since till date.

Buhari became very close friends with Jonathan, and Jonathan became a regular visitor to Aso Rock until #EndSARS happened, the country was thrown into turmoil, and Buhari’s international ratings depreciated. His performance in government was so down, the country was divided. Jonathan was doing well internationally, representing Nigeria as an elder statesman, and an international envoy, well accepted and respected by the international community.

Buhari needed someone who can reunite the country on all fronts, across religious, ethnic and political lines as his successor, but not at the detriment of the North. He saw that person only in Jonathan, who can be widely accepted as president, and still command the respect & love of the entire country. He secretly picked Jonathan as his successor and kept it a secret from a few people.

(1) Buhari knew that Jonathan is not power drunk, not over-ambitious, and he will not probe him, Buhari’s government or any of his appointees if given power.

(2) Jonathan is loved by PDP members, He enjoys a wide range of public sympathy, and he is loved by southerners, including Igbos.

But above all, he has just 4 years to steady the sinking ship. To repair Nigeria, revive her dying economy, reunite the country, and conduct a free, fair, credible, and transparent election, just as he did in 2015, that will eventually benefit a Northerner. So Buhari settled for Jonathan, and the modalities, on how to perfect his plans started.

Elrufai is a product of Atiku Abubakar, who jumped ship, to be loyal to Obasanjo, after Atiku brought him into government. Atiku recommended him for an appointment, as the head of BPE to Obasanjo. Atiku also recommended him for appointment as FCT minister, when Obasanjo asked for a strong person to implement Abuja’s Original master plan, without fear. But Elrufai betrayed Atiku and pledged his loyalty to Obasanjo. He went behind to backstab Atiku, before Obasanjo. That is who Elrufai is.

When he was booted out of government, he started his lies. Using ethnic Fulani as his lying tool. Buhari being a man who doesn’t joke with his ethnic group, both in Nigeria and abroad, brought Elrufai close to himself, as someone who champions the fight of the Fulani people.

Politically, he became Buhari’s political Godson, because Buhari was based in Kaduna by then. They held different political meetings, Buhari and his CPC members, of which Elrufai became part of them. He kept lying every day about Fulani oppression at the hands of Jonathan’s government. How Jonathan was killing Muslims and Fulanis.

Lagos media, and political structure, now saw him as a very useful propaganda machine, to be used. Both Elrufai and Tinubu’s camps sold all sorts of negative narratives against Jonathan’s govt. Buhari believed them because Elrufai is a Muslim, whom Buhari never expected to be lying to him. So when Buhari secretly settled for Jonathan, he told Elrufai his political Godson, his plan and choice in confidence that Elrufai should keep it a secret, while he works it out.

Buhari told the APC caretaker chairman, the governor of Yobe state, his choice. That they should start making arrangements on Jonathan’s decamping to the APC. The chairman and some APC governors paid Jonathan a visit at his private residence, to inform him on their plans. Because Jonathan was still a member of the PDP then, they have to look for a balance on how he can decamp without raising eyebrows.

Jonathan personally asked for the assurance of the president about this, and the party chairman on the promise because he doesn’t want any disgrace. By then the press & some APC stalwarts were beginning to hear about the rumours. The press confronted Buhari over his choice of successor, and he told them, his successor will remain a secret. When they confronted him again, he said if he names his successor, they will eliminate him. He was assured of the president’s blessings and extra assurance that his good reputation will not be trashed in the dustbin.

For President Buhari to assure Jonathan about his promise, he promised Jonathan to make him a consensus candidate of the APC without primaries. So Buhari started to push for a consensus APC candidate, whom he will hand pick. When Buhari took his choice of successor seriously, just as he did with the new APC chairman, whom he succeeded in hand-picking, Elrufai knew Buhari was serious and wants to make Jonathan president.

Elrufai decided to betray him, by leaking Buhari’s secret to Tinubu. As someone very close to Buhari, to whom Buhari tells most of his secrets, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, believed it, and went on a media show, to his Yoruba people to cry in Abeokuta where he said Olule & Emilokan. Now the plot to scuttle Jonathan’s candidacy through negative media remarks started. Meanwhile, Buhari had set motions in place, through his boys in government, for people to protest at Jonathan’s house, to ask him to run for president. Unknowingly to Buhari, Elrufai had sold out.

The Buhari strategic team really did the soft work for Jonathan’s smooth landing of the APC presidential ticket, behind the scenes. They mobilised youths, for a protest march to GEJ’s Abuja residence, to beg him to come out and run for president although it was pre-arranged.

The whole idea was, for ordinary Nigerians to have that belief or mindset that, Jonathan was actually pressured to come out and run, for president, even against his wish so it will justify him when he eventually declares for APC. Still unknown to them, Elrufai had other plans.

They got a Fulani group to buy him the APC presidential form, of 100 million nairas. Even though behind the scene, Jonathan actually gave them the money. Jonathan also paid a courtesy visit to the new APC National chair Abdullahi Adamu, where he was assured of the party’s support. Elrufai was nursing the ambition to be vice president in 2023, if he can successfully plan a Palace coup, that can outsmart Buhari’s plan. He had Ameachi, or Tinubu as his best bet, to achieving that dream.

So he opposed Buhari’s selection of Jonathan, as his successor. He fell out with Buhari’s cabal members, (kitchen cabinet). He led a rebellion against Buhari’s choice of candidate, Elrufai alongside some governors. They insisted that there will be no consensus candidates. It must be party primaries or nothing. He was banished from the villa. They intimated the president, and they ridiculed him, to the extent Mr president had to remind them, that they all chose their successors, at state levels, but they don’t want him to choose his successor as president. He tried to convince them to see reasons with him, but no way. The controversy & uproar became so much over Jonathan’s candidacy, led by Elrufai.

Jonathan had to meet with Buhari, to inform him of his loss of interest, & withdrawal from the race because he is not ready to taint his image. Since his consensus candidacy can’t be guaranteed. Jonathan left the picture quietly. Buhari now settled for senate president Ahmed Lawan, as his preferred successor, for the APC presidential ticket, and also for power to remain in the North, haven known that Atiku will emerge from the PDP. He was hoping for a Northeast contest.

Buhari also insisted on a consensus candidacy, so Ahmed Lawan, can easily clinch the APC ticket, but governor Elrufai again, now leading a group of 9 politically scheming governors, G9, vehemently opposed president Buhari’s request. While insisting that Power must be zoned to the south, and the APC presidential candidate, must be decided by party primaries.

They became the 9 wise men, from the North. According to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s camp. They are governors of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Nasarawa, Zamfara, & Borno states. Elrufai led a very strong rebellion, this time around against President Buhari’s choice of Ahmed Lawan.

All efforts by president Buhari to settle with them were bluffed. While behind Elrufai and other G9 governors negotiated for VP slot. Tinubu personally promised the whole G9 governors, the vice presidential slot, unknown, if they work for his emergence as APC presidential flag bearer. They became radicals, as Buhari insists on Ahmed Lawan, & consensus. Buhari now directed the APC chairman, to handle his request. That led to a nationwide brouhaha, and dramas, before the APC primaries. They eventually arm-twisted Adamu and president Buhari to accept their bidding.

Power must be zoned to the south, no consensus, and there must be party primaries. 11 APC governors, eventually settled for power to return to the south. Before then, Emiefele who was one of the Aso Rock cabal’s choices had already been silenced by APC Govs through the courts, after investing so much in campaign vehicles, mobilization & logistics. Emiefele was bitter. The APC governors eventually had their way.

It was time for the APC presidential primaries. Eagle Square was boiling up with uncertainty.

Tinubu’s G9 governors prior to the primaries have been building and mending bridges for their candidates, by arranging for delegates. There were too many dollars to play around with, at Eagle Square, to induce delegates for votes. But no one saw Tinubu’s masterstroke before he unleashed it. While other APC presidential aspirants were busy negotiating for votes to buy, from statutory delegates, Tinubu openly bought over his fellow Aspirants, by reaching a late agreement with them to step down.

He refunded every one of them the 100 million they paid for the party tickets, he paid them double the amount they had spent on delegates, with political promises to go with it. One by one, 7 of them stepped down for Tinubu on live TV, & handed over their delegates to him. But behind the scene, they were handsomely rewarded. That was the masterstroke that gave Tinubu the APC presidential party ticket.

The like of Ameachi & Osinbajo didn’t see that coming. The open betrayal of the process, by other Aspirants, in favour of Tinubu did not sit well with the likes of Ameachi, Osinbajo, Lawan, & President Buhari. After voting, when the results trickled in, Buhari was seen to be virtually unhappy. But the president had his plans. The party primaries were over, Tinubu was declared the winner, and everyone returned back to their normal lives.

So it was time for President Buhari to prove that he is truly the C-in-C, and Aso Rock still controls the political process in Nigeria. Buhari knew the likes of Elrufai, Ganduje, & co, can not win the election, without riding on the backs of popular candidates, or vote buying. Because in their local domain, they are not popular without him. Many of them wouldn’t have been governors, without Buhari in 2015. So Buhari promised to play his role as C-in-C when the time is right.

As they have denied him the right as president to choose his successor, they should also ensure that their candidate, wins the 2023 presidential election, through them under a free & fair electoral process. As far as, president Muhammadu Buhari remains the president, he will deny their presidential candidate, all the instrumentality of states, including Federal might.

That their candidate must win the presidential election under a free and fair electoral atmosphere. Tinubu became the new bride of APC politicians, he became the most important person in the party, as they all snubbed Buhari and Aso Rock, while they run and gather around Tinubu for political promises ahead of time. Even Tinubu himself also snubbed Buhari as he shopped for his running mate, but Buhari wasn’t bothered. If Buhari was to be informed of his vice presidential choice, he knows Buhari will never support a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Something Tinubu had proposed in 2015 but was vehemently rejected by Buhari. After settling for Kashim Shettima, and snubbing all the G9 governors, who stood by him, it was time to make political promises, and share positions with them ahead of time.

For real politics to begin. It was time to begin the real politics, on how to win the election. After trying all available permutations, on how to garner votes, to win the 2023 presidential election, the bulk eventually stopped in front of President Mohammadu Buhari. As the most important person, Tinubu and the APC needs, if they must win the presidential election. Like dogs, those governors shamelessly returned back to Buhari, being led by Elrufai, to apologise to him, in order to make peace.

To beg for his support as never before, so Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu can win the 2023 presidential election. Buhari in his usual way told them that he is not against Tinubu as the APC presidential candidate, neither is he against any of them. But what he will promise them is, Tinubu must contest and win the presidential election, in a free & fair atmosphere, without external advantage. Fearing any uncertainty, Tinubu through APC governors, strategically distributed almost a trillion naira in cash, all around the country, for vote-buying purposes. Because he was hell-bent on winning the 2023 presidential election, no matter what. Emiefele being the Governor of CBN, got wind of the information, on how Tinubu, through APC governors have strategically distributed raw cash all around the country, for vote-buying purposes.

He took the information to Buhari and showed him proof. Buhari was furious, but there is little or nothing he could do because those governors had immunity protecting them, by the constitution. So Emiefele suggested a currency redesign, to stop them, and many more like them who are hoarding the naira from circulating. Currency redesign was long overdue, coupled with security reports before Buhari, on how bandits, kidnappers, militants, terrorist, and politicians are hoarding the naira, from circulation.

Reducing the 3.32 trillion released by CBN into circulation, to just 500 billion only. Buhari hurriedly approved Emiefele’s proposal to properly checkmate Tinubu and his vote-buying Governors. The currency was hurriedly resigned, with just colour changes to the big denominations, with fewer amounts released into circulation, to quickly checkmate those politicians. Buhari gave Emiefele the approval to draft policy implementation, which will make vote buying almost impossible with the new naira note. That he will stand by him. That was why the cash withdrawal limit, was added. To checkmate Tinubu, APC govs, & all those hoarding cash to buy votes.

That is the reason why no matter how Nigerians cry, Buhari is not ready to shift grounds, to allow the use of those old currencies because he has concrete proof, as to how Tinubu through governors had strategically distributed raw cash, for vote buying despite court pronouncement.

ASIWAJU SHOULD’VE READ THE VERY BOLD INSCRIPTION ON EKESON LUXURY BUSES THAT PLY FROM LAGOS TO THE SOUTHEAST. IT IS BOLDLY WRITTEN: BEWARE! MANY HAVE GONE!

1
President Buhari and the APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President Buhari and the APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Like former Russian Oligarch Mikhail Kordorgoksy, like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Ahmed. One of President Obasanjo’s favourite songs is Sonny Neji (face me I face you oo… Oyaa, Na mi and you today.. oyaa!! Face me I go face you… Do me I go do you…

OBJ is also reputable for using the remarks; Iron jam Iron one must bend when he’s in a battle mode. It is now Tinubu vs the military Generals and not Peter Obi and the OBIdient movement as he may have erroneously believed. Peter Obi and the Labour party have been tried and proven and may have been positioned to become the prime beneficiary of the outcome of the impending face-off between the military constituency and some of their former cronies they allowed to play the Nigeria chase game with them and the citizens of Nigeria as pawns.

I don’t see Asiwaju Tinubu winning this battle and winning the election. I see them taking Atiku with them into permanent retirement as they do not trust him a penny. They should know. They are privy to so many classified information and security reports. So the odds as it is clearly tilt towards Peter Obi in the final analysis. Call him “Nwa Chinemere Oko’okpa na eyiri akwa”. It is not by our might. The die is now cast. The final chapter on Tinubu political machine and dynasty has begun to unfold. Lagos is now about to witness the D-day battle of Normandy.

Nigeria is too big, too complex and way too complicated for any one single individual to approach this country with the extreme hubris and sense of indispensability as Asiwaju and his idle worshipers have demonstrated in the past few years. Everybody tends to be a boy and he’s the only man in the house. No former Governor or anybody achieved anything in Lagos but he alone built Lagos, and hence he’s the owner of Lagos PLC.

Twice he went to Abeokuta in Ogun state, twice he insulted the former Military General and former head of state with his Emi’lokan speech and the F9 condescending remarks of President Buhari. Granted, some of us are not PMB fans. But he still occupies the office of the President, and if weird characters like Gov. El Rufai and that of Kogi state and Asiwaju loyalists are allowed to set the tone and pace of governance in this country, then we are finished.

Let’s not go into the money coup Asiwaju unleashed on the primary of the APC that gave him the presidential ticket. Should we talk of how he has infiltrated every institution of governance and destroyed the dissenting civil liberties he once used as tools to score some kind of political uppercut against his political rivals. Everyone that watched that APC charades saw a lame duck president Buhari totally embarrassed by what unfolded in that APC convention that Asiwaju hijacked with his deep pockets.

Obviously, PMB seems to have lost control of his party, the government and now the country to an idle bloody civilian (as the military people call non-military others like us regardless of how highly placed you are). Indeed, we are all bloody civilians. A simple reality that Tinubu in his naivete failed to realize or pretend not to understand even with the benefit of hindsight and experience of how Chief MKO Abiola and some others ended up.

How about the closed circle council of former heads of state and presidents dominated by military Generals? What do they think of Asiwaju at this moment as he’s poised to also acquire entire Nigeria and turn it into his private estate like Lagos PLC? One can only guess as we see the handwriting on the walls.

So is it now possible that Asiwaju will survive this onslaught and succeed in becoming the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in this February 2023 presidential election? If you ask me, na who I go ask??

Well, there’s a precedent with the Russian President Vladimir Putin and one of the beneficiaries of Russian cronyism and late Boris Yeltsin’s voodoo privatization that handed over a chunk of Russian oil wealth to a few Kremlin Oligarchs and loyalists such as Mikhail Kordorgoksy and oil Magnet just like Nigeria with Atiku, Asiwaju and others in Nigeria today. And now some of the prime beneficiaries of the fleecing of Nigeria are now insisting that they must purchase Nigeria wholesale with the same Nigerian wealth they were allowed to corner.

The likes of Asiwaju Tinubu have grown so rich and so complacent if not naive to the point that they failed to follow the story of power play around the world, especially the story of Kordorgoksy and how he ended up in prison in Siberia cold region when he started nursing the ambition to take over the Kremlin.

Many may not recall, but in one of PMB’s major speeches shortly after winning the elections pointed to the fact that some individuals have cornered so much of our commonwealth to the point they think they can purchase Nigeria.

What’s more? The military boys have a mindset about Nigeria, especially the Nigerian war Veterans. It is an unwritten rule, but if you know, you know.

They can forgive their fellow war veterans who saw the battle as they risked their lives, but they will never forgive anyone else, be you from North East or West to play the game they played, or to be placed on the same pedestal as the owners of Nigeria as Dele Momodu captured it. This is one reality the presidential Candidates of PDP AND APC have not faced and may realize this too late. We are all eyes and ears and must not once again become pawns in the final battle of Normandy and the D day.

Why??… We must ignore the instigation to go out there to become the inquisitive monkeys that often receive more bullets. To borrow from former US secretary of state, James Baker, We simply do not have a dog in that fight.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES, DAILY DEVOTIONAL, WEDNESDAY, 22ND FEBRUARY 2023 by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD DSc DD

0

LIVE ABOVE THE WORLD
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you (John 15:19).

God expects you to live above this world because you’re not of this world. No wonder the Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, cautioned in Colossians 2:20: “Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances.”

Refuse to allow your actions, reactions, thoughts, words and responses to be influenced or conditioned by the elements and rudiments of this world. The world is subject to you.

Now that you’re born again, you live in two worlds: the physical world and the spiritual world. Be more conscious of the spiritual realm into which you’re born of God, and function therein. Live the life of heaven on earth, because you’re a citizen of heaven: “But our citizenship is in heaven…” (Philippians 3:20 ESV).

Your outlook on life, and your contemplations should be guided by the Word. That way, no matter what happens, you’ll always win. Recall the words of Jesus in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

You overcame the world in Him. Therefore, dominate this world with the principles of God’s Kingdom and with your faith: “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4).

CONFESSION
I’m born of God; therefore, I’ve overcome the world! I live in the victory and dominion of Christ over this world. I’m in rest, health, wealth, security and peace with prosperity. I influence my world with the principles of God’s glorious Kingdom. Blessed be God!

FURTHER STUDY:
Colossians 1:12-13
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son:

John 16:33 AMPC
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

Colossians 3:1-2
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Ephesians 6:18-20 says, ‘Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak’.

At our times of prayer today, we’ll pray fervently in tongues of the Spirit, and also for ministers of the gospel around the world, that they stand bold, fearless, courageous and confident, as they do the work of the ministry, inspite of oppositions; supplied with everything they require to the glory of God. Amen.

Watch rebroadcasts of Your Loveworld Praise-A-Thon airing on the Loveworld Networks, throughout the day, for the rest of the week. They’ll surely bless you.

Remember to attend the Midweek Service today in Church onsite or online. God bless you.

NO ENCHANTMENT AGAINST YOU – PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME.

Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel… (Numbers 23:23).

In the Old Testament, Balak the king of Moab was angry with Israel and hired the prophet called Balaam, to curse Israel. More to Balak’s chagrin, each time Balaam was to curse Israel, blessings came forth from his mouth. Then he said to Balak, “Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he (God) hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it” (Numbers 23:20).

Balaam eventually gave up trying to curse Israel after three failed attempts. The Bible says he saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel; and so, he refused to continue seeking enchantments against Israel (Numbers 24:1). In other words, he realized it was futile to curse or concoct negative schemes against those whom the Lord had blessed. His conclusion on the matter was what we read in the opening verse. See how the Good News Bible puts it: “There is no magic charm, no witchcraft, That can be used against the nation of Israel….”

Today, such things still happen: people go to voodoo priests, sorcerers, and diviners to put a curse on a colleague or someone they’ve perceived as an enemy. Sometimes, people who never had any history or trace of sickness could suddenly come up with a terminal disease or even become lunatic, as a result of a curse placed on them. Oftentimes, those who have been cursed aren’t even aware that it’s a curse that’s working against them; their problems defy every medical or human effort.

But thanks be unto God! Once you’re born again, no one can curse you, because you’re the blessed of the Lord. The new creation is the blessed of God. We’re His chosen ones: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…” (1 Peter 2:9).

Never be afraid of any sorcerer, magician, or voodoo priest; their actions against you are futile, no matter how they try. You can’t be bewitched. You can’t be charmed. You can’t be cursed. You walk in blessings only, and only the blessed Word of the Lord can come to pass in your life. Hallelujah!

BREAKING NEWS: Supreme Court adjourns judgement Naira – Supreme Court fixes March 3 for judgement

At the Supreme Court of Nigeria today

The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned judgement in the new naira policy suit to March 3, 2023. With the apex court’s decision, Nigerians, especially consumer and business groups as well as professional and trade unions looking up to the apex court for a favourable judgment (today) that they expect will ameliorate their suffering, will have to wait. The Supreme Court had on February 8 restrained the Federal Government from implementing the February 10 deadline for swapping the old naira notes with new ones, but the Central Bank of Nigeria refused to shift the deadline.

The injunction was a sequel to a suit filed by Zamfara, Kogi and Kaduna state governments against the Attorney-General of the Federation on February 3. Other states including Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Kano, Sokoto, Ogun and Cross River have also joined the suit as co-plaintiffs. While taking arguments on Wednesday, counsel for the Federal Government, Kanu Agabi, said the Supreme Court held that all reliefs are rooted in section 20 of the CBN Act. He argued that the apex court has no jurisdiction to hear the suit as the action cannot commence with an Originating Summons.

He also contended that the plaintiffs did not deem it fit to the CBN to court as a respondent despite making reference to the apex bank 32 times in their originating summons and despite the fact that seven of the reliefs sought to relate to the CBN. He asserted that Nigerians were already turning down the old notes way the President’s directive. Agabi also asserted that by asking Nigerians to deposit their old naira at the CBN designated centres, the president was abiding by the court order and that Buhari is empowered under the constitution to veto any legislation.

Pre-elections, During Elections, Post-Elections, Actionable, Preparedness and Warnings!!!

0

Dear Obi-Dients,

As we go into this 2023 Presidential and General elections in Nigeria, let us not forget that our beloved country is at a crossroad. Many of us genuinely want Nigeria to get better. But some of them just do not want to play their part in ushering in a new Nigeria. We even want a miracle from God that will just change Nigeria overnight while we sit and watch. Unfortunately, things do not work that way.

Pre-Election:

Get your power bank ready. Buy enough Internet data. Charge your cell phone. Keep your PVC and ID handy.

Stern Warning!!!

Reliable information reaching us shows that some gullible Labour Party Chairmen, Labour Party Staff and INEC officials may have compromised. Whereby you are one of them and may have been bribed, be warned! If you have received bribes, return them now, and do your work diligently. Otherwise, the Team New Nigeria movement (OBIDATTI support groups) will use all legally available tools at our disposal to bring you to justice and strip you of your title.

Be assured that our EAGLE & OWL EYES are on you 24 hours daily. Special warnings go to the gullible LP or INEC staff in the following states: IMO, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Kano, Kaduna, Edo, Osun, and Rivers States. OBIDATTI support groups are in full support of President Buhari’s promise for a “Free and Fair Election 2023” in Nigeria and we will not fail to expose you if you fumble.

The Military Veterans for Peter Obi (MVPO), A security arm of the Peter Obi movement, have set up a Situation Room/State Emergency Centers across the 36 states and the FCT, in case of any violence before, during and after the election in your polling unit or elsewhere, please call your state emergency number to report the situation immediately. 📞📞 (See the attached)

During Election:

Be calm, observant, and smart, and defend your votes. Get your power banks ready (if INEC says their battery is down, offer your power bank). Buy internet data (if INEC) says that they have no internet, offer yours. Any suspicious action or movement on Feb. 25th. 2023: Spring into Action: take pictures, videos or Facebook live, send to Emergency numbers as provided below and to all social media. On voting day, go with snacks, water, or food to your polling units. After voting, stay within the allowable distance to defend your votes. Help the handicapped and the elderly. Be nice and brave!

Please take note that during accreditation your PVC would be placed on the BVAS (make sure that the colour on the BVAS changes to colour green which means you have been accredited but if it doesn’t turn green it means your vote will be void) and your name will be written down. If your name is written down without the BVAS changing colour to green 💚 then it means, we have all wasted our time. Kindly share this information with as many Obi-Dients as possible.

At the polling units, if the INEC officials give you 2 ballot papers as if by mistake, do not thumbprint the 2 ballot papers and think that you are helping OBI, no. The BIVAS machine will detect that you thumb printed twice and the result of that polling unit will be cancelled… That is one of the tricks some INEC corrupt officers at the polling booths may use to reduce OBI’S votes. The INEC officials will give double or more ballot papers to you as if by mistake, no it is deliberate, and they will do this in all areas where Obi has more followers. Do you know what will happen if they succeed in the areas where Obi has the majority of followers? God forbid, so let us be alert and wise up to their evil machinations.

Post-Election:

If there is unrest or a forceful grab for power: (At least prepare for 2 months’ food supply) Do not buy too much food to avoid spoilage and scarcity. Make sure you have enough smart kit (gala, biscuits, water, and other snacks) rice, beans, water, water, and water. Be wise, be brave and defend your vote and God-given right as a citizen of Nigeria.

This information is from the Labour Party of Nigeria and the Coalition of the Peter Obi Support Groups.

.…So…… Bola Ahmed Tinubu hoarded, stored Covid-19 Pandemic Palliatives DONATED by Local and International Organisations and Agencies for the relief of Nigeria’s desperate and long-suffering masses

Nigerians carrying bags of food on their heads during a mass looting of one of the warehouses with COVID-19 food palliatives that were looted by politicians and not given during lockdown to relieve people of hunger, in Nigeria, Oct. 26, 2020.

…So…… Bola Ahmed Tinubu hoarded, stored Covid-19 Pandemic Palliatives DONATED by Local and International Organisations and Agencies for the relief of Nigeria’s desperate and long-suffering masses whose difficulties were exacerbated by the Covid-19 Pandemic induced shutdown of the Nigerian and Global economies.

Callous, unscrupulous Scavengers parading as Politicians (Governors, National and States Legislators) hoarded Bags of Rice, Indomie, Wheat, Oil and other supplies DONATED BY LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS AND AGENCIES for distribution to Nigerians as palliatives to ease their lack during the Covid-19 Lockdown.

They rebranded the items to either their individual names or that of their Political Parties and wanted to use them for elections, distribute them to the Voters also known as “the masses” as if they were Relief Food and Materials from Politicians who cared about them and want to alleviate their suffering. That happened in Nigeria.

The Politicians watched whilst Nigerians died, many from heartbreak, some by committing suicide because they literally snapped under the pressure and others dying because they either didn’t see food or couldn’t afford the food.

We saw Viral Videos of desperate Nigerians storming warehouses where the DONATED materials were stored when they discovered them, looting the Warehouses and burning some afterwards in their rampage.

We were alarmed, we expressed outrage at the wickedness of the Politicians, we condemned them, many wished and prayed for their death because of their wickedness and other iniquities committed against the poor and ordinary Nigerian and three years after that experience, the same wicked people who didn’t care that Nigerians were dying in large numbers (not just during the Covid-19 lock-down but have never cared about the masses though they LIE that they do) have the gumption to campaign for Political Office and appeal to their Victims to Vote for them.

As if that wasn’t enough insult to Nigerians, their Temerity, they approach Nigeria’s Supreme Court, urged and have now secured a “suspension of the deadline for the New Naira Swap” from the Supreme Court on the basis that the EXTENDED deadline is “anti-the masses” and that their citizens are “suffering hardship” as a consequence?

Nigeria is a Very Weird Contraption. Nigeria is a Sad, Sorry Contraption. She is.

It’s unarguable that Bola Ahmed Tinubu (through his Minions) is the driver of the pushback on the CBN Naira Swap timeline or is it deadline. The man has literally been foaming in the mouth, lamenting about the CBN deadline, moaning like the desperado that he is that the deadline (which was extended by 10 DAYS) was meant to SABOTAGE his (Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s) Presidential Campaign.

I am stunned not just by Tinubu’s hypocrisy and contradiction (considering that the Governor he chose to administer Lagos State on his instructions and directions, deprived the masses of access to provisions and Food DONATED by people and organisations) but I am stunned by the fact that many Tunnel Vissioned, clueless, naive and yes, Foolish Nigerians are not remembering the deprivation they suffered when they needed to be saved from hunger.

How can people forget or disregard the fact that Tinubu and his Minions like Malam Nasir El Rufai, Yahaya Bello, Kogi State Government and other State Governors and Politicians seized, hoarded DONATED Palliatives and watched them die because they either couldn’t see food or couldn’t afford the food they saw? How do you forget or disregard that?

Yes, the CBN Naira Swap deadline has obviously occasioned grave inconvenience and suffering in the Land, I get it, I am a Victim of the hardship, my life has been very negatively impacted by the CBN Naira Change and Swap Deadline, it’s caused all sorts of hardship, difficulties and shocks to commerce and livelihoods but it makes more sense I think, to ask Bola Ahmed Tinubu and/or his apologists, why they hold the intelligence of ALL Nigerians in this much contempt that they LIE about the real reason for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Organisation being THE ONLY ONE of the OVER 10 “Presidential Election Campaign Organisations so VEHEMENTLY AGAINST the CBN deadline.

I know that there are many Foolish people in Nigeria, i meet them EVERY DAY, I read what they write and share EVERY DAY on Facebook and Social Media, the idiocy some spew and the imbecilic writings of many but do people have to be Foolish because they are suffering?

My view is that even when people are suffering, Folly or Foolish reactions only amplify or compound the suffering because that’s what Foolish reactions do.

Like the Roman Mob, Nigerians are burning and looting public property, and they are vandalising infrastructure in their areas because they are “frustrated”, I watched scenes from Ibadan, Warring and other places on Channels T.V. and I was pained by the fact that what’s destroyed AREN’T property and homes owned by Nigeria’s Thieving Politicians but Street Lights, Traffic Lights, Government Offices and Public Property and the vandalising and destruction is by the people who know or should know that they need MORE of what they are destroying in their insanity and that the government wouldn’t replace or rebuild what they’ve destroyed expeditiously and that when or if they are rebuilt whenever they are, it would be at a very high cost to be funded by the State or Government Treasury.

If Nigerians are frustrated and some feel that they need to vent their frustration by burning, vandalising and looting, it makes sense doesn’t it to burn, vandalise and loot the Property or Homes of the Politicians who have in their corruption and the impunity of it, made life the misery that it is for most Nigerians, why to burn, vandalise and loot PUBLIC amenities, infrastructure and property that would be rebuilt using YOUR TAX MONEY. Can there be a more stupid thing than this as a reaction?

Word on the streets is that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has about N22 Billion “War Chest” in CASH stowed away for some years in Underground Vaults and basements, we’ve seen Videos of such storage of Naira Notes away from circulation because the money is for Vote buying and compromising elections and there are no good reasons not to believe the allegation that Tinubu known for his belief that he can do anything with or because of his Stupendous wealth isn’t planning to use stored money for the Presidential election, corrupting it with money.

The PDP has made the allegation that Tinubu is frustrated that because of the “New Naira” and the deadline for the “Naira Swap” and the monitoring of Money Lodgments by the EFCC, ICPC, DSS and the Financial Intelligence Unit, it would be difficult to get the God knows how many Hundreds of Billions of Naira into the Banking System to “run things” now and on Election Day, he’s unleashed his Dogs and oiled his Propaganda machinery to rally Nigerians by spinning their “suffering” to be Buhari’s fault DISREGARDING THE FACT THAT Tinubu has been bragging that HE MADE MUHAMMADU BUHARI PRESIDENT.

Yeah, Foolish Nigerians are listening to and believing Tinubu’s bullshit when they ought to be asking, WHAT MANNER OF SHAMELESS MAN would on one hand be priding himself over, boasting that he made Muhammadu Buhari President and on the other hand be bold-faced telling Nigerians that the man he made President and allowed to be so for nearly 8 years (whilst he waited for “his turn”) is worthy of vilification and then say that we should trust him to “build on Buhari’s Legacy”, the same Legacy he ridicules and castigates when convenient. What a Man. What a Consumate Contradictory Hypocrite. What a Country, What a Sad Sad People. Yeah, what a Sad people……

Lebron James poses with family after breaking NBA Scoring Record of all time

With no father, no college education, no training and very few role models, they handed this talented, young, dirt-poor 18-year-old $420,000 per year.

He married his high school sweetheart, was never arrested, never used drugs, and never humiliated his spouse with rumours of an affair. He was never in the news with so much as a parking ticket. He is an excellent father to his children, constantly supporting them and making them dream big. He’s always involved in their activities too. 20 years later. Same dude. Same maturity. Same wife. Same family.

Reputation is intact. Now earning about $2 million per week. Still one of the greatest basketball players on the planet today. Lebron has sent over 1000 children to college fully paid for. Whether you’re a fan of LeBron James or not, you have to respect him for what he does on and off the court.

Give it to the North, they get what they want at every turn while the South do the talking.

Northern Elders who opposed the Zoning system
Northern Elders who opposed the Zoning system

Most radical ideas that had shaped Nigeria’s political landscape often originated from the South only to be perfected to the advantage of the North. For instance, while the South championed the struggle for independence, the North acted like it wasn’t ready and would rather remain under British domination. But from when the British lowered the Union Jack, it was the North that had dominated the South and still does.

Another is the idea of a military coup. It was actually Southern officers that executed Nigeria’s first military coup before the North perfected the art of coup plotting and used it to entrench Northern domination. Almost all successful coups in Nigeria were hatched and executed by Northern officers from 1966 to date. Again, Nigeria started well on federalism until some group of Southerners introduce a unitary government.

The North shouted ‘Araba’ the Hausa translation for ‘separation’ and insisted on true federalism. But as soon as it seized power in the counter-coup of 1966, it jettisoned true federalism and perfected unitarianism to her advantage. Today, it is the South who destroyed federalism that is shouting true federalism. Take again the question of constitutional democracy. This is a concept alien to both Islam and the oligarchy.

While the South talks plenty of democracy, the North which only reluctantly embraced democracy perfected the act of shaping democracy to its own advantage. Because the North understands that democracy is a game of numbers they made sure they have the numbers and a population they can easily manipulate and control. They control their population with illiteracy and religion and make no apology for it. One can go on and on to list how the North beat the South at all times in its game.

Whether as a friend or a foe, you must understand your opponent so as to engage properly. The inability of the South to read the North is one of her biggest albatrosses. Fast track to the current issue of restructuring, another idea currently advanced by the South as a remedy to save Nigeria from disintegration. The Southern proponents of restructuring believe that Nigeria is not functioning properly because the centre is saddled with too many responsibilities and powers. Restructuring means devolving more powers to the states.

Despite the clarity of this concept, somehow the North pretends it does not understand what restructuring is all about. To get the South busy with talking, they pretend that restructuring will put her at a disadvantage or, say the least, that it is an agenda to dismember Nigeria. For these reasons, many Southerners have wrongly convinced themselves that the North will never give in to restructuring whereas the North in actual fact is getting ready for restructuring and once again intends to perfect it to their advantage.

The import of this article is to warn the South to get ready and prepare for restructuring. The British who merged the North and South together have not abandoned the reason for the merger. They remain very sympathetic to the North hence western leaders like Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and John Kerry had at various times tutored the Northern leaders on how to reorganize the region for a post-oil economy.

Between 2015 and 2016, the US Institute for Peace held a series of strategy sessions strictly for Northern leaders on how best to prepare and re-energize the region for a post-oil economy. The sessions agreed that restructuring is inevitable without which even the North will not survive. The sessions harped on what the vulnerabilities of the northern region would be when restructuring occurs and more importantly how to ensure that such vulnerabilities are dealt with well before restructuring. One major vulnerability is the fact that the North is landlocked hence they were advised that the region would need alternative international trade access routes that do not depend on the South.

This explains why President Buhari commenced building the ongoing high-speed railway lines designed to connect with the Niger Republic’s supply and logistics systems. They were also advised that they needed to be independent of the South for petroleum products hence they went ahead with the project of building a completely new modern refinery in Daura, Katsina State. The Daura refinery is purposely built to refine crude oil coming in from the Niger Republic. The choice of Daura as a location is to reduce the cost of pipelines, as piping to the Kaduna refinery would have been very expensive. Daura shares a common border with Niger Republic.

Another major vulnerability is the fact that a significant proportion of Nigeria’s power generation and infrastructure is located in the South. It was suggested that the North would need to rebalance power generation if it was to industrialize. It is therefore not surprising that contracts have been awarded to pipe gas from the South to pass through Ajaokuta to Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano (AKK) where three thermal stations will be built in each of the three cities with the capacity to generate 4,500MW of electricity.

While at the face value, this project may appear good for Nigeria which can now export excess electricity to other African countries, the main objective, however, is to make the North electricity sufficient, and under restructuring will make the South pay charges for passing power from any of the thermal stations. The North is also investing heavily in agriculture with a view to being in a position to not just feed its population but to export food to the South and other African countries. Only the South can solve its problem with regard to food. A lot can be learnt from Israel if it must readdress the food imbalance.

To boost agriculture, President Buhari did what no other government in Nigeria has been able to do. He closed the land borders and presented farmers with a great windfall. Massive incentives were provided to motivate Northern farmers. Northern farmers, who work through cooperatives, were provided with machinery and low-interest loans through the CBN and the Bank of Agriculture to help stabilize the level of growth in agriculture.

I have taken time to reel out these few examples to debunk the laughable notion held by the South that the North will not give in to structuring. That is far from the truth. The North understands restructuring perfectly well and its vulnerabilities in the case of restructuring. The North is light years ahead of the South in their proactive preparations. I support restructuring for the singular reason that it will make Nigeria better than its current form. It will bring the government closer to the people, enhance development and ensure efficient and effective governance.

Rather than being emotional and wasting valuable time on empty rhetoric, the best legacy Southern leaders can leave behind is to put on their thinking caps and get to work. They must use the opportunity of the current time to map out strategies that will rave and drive the economic and social development of the South’s post-oil revenue. The youth who are the future of tomorrow must understand that the future they symbolize and represent is now. The only practical way they can be part of that future is to hold her elected political leaders accountable by making her house every single one of them and their families uncomfortable until the right things are done.

Saving Nigeria from Nigerians

Saving Nigeria from Nigerians
Saving Nigeria from Nigerians

The current artificially-contrived currency crisis badly exposes the weaknesses in our Constitution and other establishment laws. CBN under the guise of a “currency swap” has rather implemented a currency confiscation agenda all in a bid to curb vote-buying which is not its mandate. Thus, Nigeria is currently held for ransom by two people: President Buhari and his appointee, Governor Emefiele of the CBN. Buhari is the chief culprit here while Emefiele is a mere errand-boy enforcer. In essence, these two public officers are holding over 200 million people for ransom given the economic hardship, emasculation and strangulation individuals, households and businesses have been subjected to in the last few weeks. Clearly, something is fundamentally wrong if a President will use a CBN Governor to practically shut down economic activities and burn down the country to achieve a political goal. This is a signature misuse of office and abuse of power unfolding before our eyes. An elected officeholder and his appointee have subordinated the interests of 200 million Nigerians over theirs. This is dreadful!.

Regardless of our political leanings, what is bad is bad! Everyone is feeling the heat. This includes both the supposed targets of Buhari and Emefiele’s machinations and the opposition parties and their supporters who hope to profit from the people’s misery. The opposition believes the crisis will hurt the ruling party’s candidates at next Saturday’s election. The supporters of APC, PDP, LP and NNPP buy goods and services from the same market, live in the same areas, use the same hospital, attend the same schools etc. The harrowing pain is therefore collective regardless of which side of the divide you are on. Not even the videos and images of the destruction and burning of public and private properties including banks’ branches, tears and wailing of citizens who cannot pay for services including food and medicals, attack on and threat to lives of commercial bank workers etc. have touched the president or his enforcer. They are both blind to emotion and reason maybe because they have water and not blood flowing in their veins.

Who is to blame for all of these? The people themselves, the electorate, you and I. Every Nigerian has a senator and representative at the two chambers of the National Assembly (NASS) who make laws on their behalf and perform oversight functions on the executive arm of government. The people have failed by using the NASS to make laws to curb the excesses of elected and appointed public office holders including the president and the CBN Governor. As our constitution and other laws stand today, the NASS has inadvertently given dictatorial powers to the president and CBN Governor and the people are suffering the consequences of the exercise of those dictatorial powers. The CBN Governor has inadvertently created a template which other appointed heads of government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) may fancy using in future to inflict pain and hardship on Nigerians.

Pray, what stops the Comptroller-General (CG) of Customs from shutting all land borders or confiscating all goods at our borders for 3 months because he wants to intercept a rumoured consignment of contrabands? And for 3 months, nobody can bring in any goods including food and essential medicals because of a crazy, sadist and uncreative CG who has the backing of the president? Or who will stop the Minster of Aviation or the DG of NCAA if any of them decides to shut our airspace with the backing of the president because they want to settle political scores or prevent some politicians from flying to campaign venues across the country? Who will stop the DG of NDLEA if he seizes all consignments because he is searching for contrabands or NAFDAC DG wakes up one morning and revokes all approvals granted to drug manufacturers because a politician owns a drug company and they want to weaken his financial base? These are scary thoughts but they can and will happen one day if we do not act now. This is why Nigerians (i.e. the people) through their elected federal lawmakers must act now to save the country from these other Nigerians (i.e. wicked and sadist elected and appointed officeholders).

The current checks and balances mechanisms in the 1999 Constitution are not very effective. That was why President Buhari had the effrontery to overrule the Supreme Court and there were no consequences. How and why should this happen in a constitutional democracy governed by the rule of law? This reinforces the opening sentence of this intervention. As things stand today, the president is greater than the Supreme Court and the people (NASS).

We have to reverse this by amending our constitution and other laws such that the order of power descends from the people (NASS) to the Supreme Court and the president. 1 man cannot be greater than 200 million people who elected him into office. It is an insult. And 20 or 25 Supreme Court Justices cannot be greater than 469 lawmakers (who are representing 200 million Nigerians). Our laws must be amended to remove and reduce all tyrannical tendencies in the executive arm of government.

To start with, the Constitution should be reviewed and updated every 5 years. It should be statutory, automatic and not subject to the president’s discretion or whims. Also, amendments to the constitution should no longer require presidential assent. Once the NASS passes the amendments and 24 States Assemblies out of 36 pass the same amendments, the amendments take automatic effect. The NASS represents 200 million people. If 200 million people have taken a position, it becomes binding. No one individual should sit in Aso Rock and use his pen to decide whether to assent or not or use a constitutional amendment to settle political and personal scores.

All other enabling laws such as the CBN Act, SEC Act, FIRS Act, EFCC Act, Electoral Act etc. should be automatically reviewed and updated every 3 years. It will interest readers to know that the CBN Act was last updated in 2007, that was 16 years ago, enough time for a monster like Emefiele to evolve. These Acts should be amended to include clear provisions for the removal of their Heads (Governor, DG, Executive Chairman, Executive Secretary, CG etc.) by NASS. Using the CBN Governor as an example, where he/she is found to have initiated policies that are damaging to the economy and people, any of the two chambers of the NASS can pass a simple resolution to suspend him from office for 6 months. Once a chamber suspends him from office, any action he takes thereafter is illegal, null and void and of no effect. If the NASS decides to sack him from office, both chambers must pass resolutions to remove him from office. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes and applies to all government appointees including Federal Cabinet Ministers.

Also, no Ministry, Department or Agency (MDA) of government or the head of the MDA should be able to sue the NASS or obtain an injunction preventing the NASS from sitting over a matter. This should be clearly spelt out in the Acts of these MDAs. For example, Governor Emefiele should not be able to sue NASS or obtain a black market injunction preventing the NASS from sitting to pass a resolution to suspend Emefiele or sack him from office. The constitution should be amended such that no individual, entity, body, state, presidency or government can obtain any injunction from the court to prevent the NASS from sitting.

For the CBN Act specifically, currency introduction and redesign proposals should require approval by both chambers of the NASS going forward. Both chambers of NASS should be able to pass a resolution suspending any policy or directive introduced by any MDA which results in unintended consequences for the people post-implementation. Because we cannot underestimate the mischief of the executive, the Rules of the NASS should be updated and strengthened to provide for virtual/remote sitting where all resolutions passed have the same binding effect as those passed when it sits physically.

On the Supreme Court, what happens when a president disobeys the Supreme Court? This is an interesting question. Looking back in history, President Andrew Jackson once disobeyed the US Supreme Court in 1832 and got away with it. In August 1974, it was only the threat of impeachment by the US Congress that compelled President Richard Nixon to surrender the White House tapes to the special prosecutor after he previously defied the US Supreme Court’s 8-0 unanimous ruling to do so a month earlier. In 2005, President Obasanjo defied the Supreme Court by withholding Lagos State’s council funds and got away with it.

This is 2023 and Buhari is about to get away with another contempt of the Supreme Court.

Where a Nigerian President fails to carry out the orders of the Supreme Court, such a decision should trigger a call for the impeachment of the president by NASS because defying the Supreme Court is a fundamental violation of the constitution and a sure pathway to anarchy. Unfortunately, in climes such as ours with politico-ethno-religious suspicions, the NASS maybe be unsuccessful in impeaching him. But there are other checks. A president who defies the Supreme Court cannot hold political office in Nigeria after the end of his tenure.

If the president is in his first tenure, he cannot run for re-election as he is automatically constitutionally barred from seeking re-election. Such a president cannot present a budget to the NASS for approval and cannot appoint anyone who requires the senate’s confirmation. These are subtle safeguards against the powers and mischievous tendencies of a tyrannical president if one ever emerges in future. Our constitution should be amended to include these safeguards.

If the above recommendations are implemented by NASS, we would have saved our country from ourselves. The overarching objective of these recommendations is the elevation of the people over a few. 200 million Nigerians are greater than any one individual, no matter who you are in the following sequence: the people (NASS) first; the judiciary (Supreme Court), second, and the executive (Presidency), third.

Rhapsody of Realities, REAL WORSHIP—BEYOND FORM OR RITUAL, Tuesday, February 21st. 2023 by Pastor Chris

Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all (1 Chronicles 29:11).

Some people don’t understand what worship is and so they miss out on its blessings and benefits. Worship is the recognition and appreciation of the goodness, blessings, kindness and righteousness of God. It is the appreciation and recognition of His character, and therefore, the confession of His character. Hence, true praise is worship.

When, for instance, you give thanks to God and say “Lord, you’re good; you’re kind; you’ve blessed me; you’re righteous,” you’re defining, recognizing, appreciating and promoting the character of God. The Lord appreciates that because it shows who He is in your life; it separates or distinguishes Him from everyone and everything else.

When you thank Him for His goodness, provision, blessings, and all the wonderful things He’s done in your life, you’re saying “Oh Lord, I know it’s you who did all these things.” You’re attributing those beautiful works to Him, and the necessary result is that He’ll do more for you and reveal Himself to you in a greater way.

Worship always brings a greater revelation of God. This is why we worship only God, and not men, angels, or any other creation. How important worship is! It should be for you something beyond a form or ritual. It should be a time of true recognition, perception and a real encounter with who God is.

PRAYER:

Dear Father, I lift my hands in worship and offer to you sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving from my spirit. I adore you, Lord, for you alone are God, the everlasting King of glory, the only wise and true God, gracious and kind, holy and righteous, ever loving and forgiving. Thank you for the blessing of the New Testament in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. Psalm 96:9-10 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. 10 Say among the heathen [that] the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. John 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
