TINUBU PRESIDENCY (GOD FORBID) AND THE DISASTER AND DISGRACE IT WILL BE TO NIGERIA AND YORUBA.

The APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu

As a Nigerian, I would be extremely concerned and embarrassed if Bola Tinubu became Nigeria’s next president. As a Yoruba, I would be deeply disappointed and ashamed. Why? Well, as a Nigerian, I would be concerned and embarrassed because a Tinubu presidency would devastate Nigeria internally and demean it externally.

As a Yoruba, I would be disappointed and ashamed because Tinubu’s politics and behaviour are antithetical to the values Yorubas claim define them; the core values of integrity, character and honesty, encapsulated in the honour-signalling Yoruba word: Omoluabi! First, for Nigeria, a Tinubu presidency would destroy the fabric of presidential politics.

It would legitimise a self-serving behaviour where someone entrusted with public office amasses inexplicable wealth and uses the stupendous wealth to manoeuvre his way to Nigeria’s presidency. If that were to happen, the presidency of Nigeria would be for sale, going to the highest bidder. No one has ever become Nigeria’s president that way!

To be clear, this is not about wealth, but its sources. MKO Abiola nearly became Nigeria’s first billionaire president. But everyone knew he was a government contractor and an international businessman. He never held public office, not a state governor, not local government chairman! Similarly, if Aliko Dangote were to run for president, no one would question the sources of his wealth: we see them everywhere. He has held no public office! But how, for God’s sake, did Tinubu, governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, become, in his words, “richer than Osun State”, owning private jets?

The Financial Times recently wrote about “his shifting versions of where his money came from”. In one version, Tinubu said he became a multi-billionaire through real estate. It stretches credulity. Yet, he faces strong allegations of state capture, of large-scale transfer of public resources for private interests. Tinubu’s reflex response is: “Prove it”! But that won’t suffice in sane climes. Elsewhere, someone so stinking wealthy, with no known legitimate source of his wealth, especially being in public life, cannot glide insouciantly to a nation’s leadership without absolute openness about the source of his wealth.

This matters because unexplained and inexplicable wealth distorts politics and undermines democracy; deep pockets determine the outcome of presidential primaries and can influence the result of presidential elections. That’s one reason a Tinubu victory would be disastrous for Nigeria; it would license, reward, and perpetuate morally bankrupt politics.

Of course, there’s also the documented case of Tinubu’s drug-related past. In the early 1990s, he forfeited $460,000 to US authorities after they concluded that certain funds in his bank accounts were “proceeds of narcotics trafficking and money laundering”. Such a person would never dream of becoming president of a country with the right value system. Truth is: a Tinubu presidency would make Nigeria a laughingstock globally, accentuated by Tinubu’s unpresidential carriage and gait and his crude manner of speaking, particularly his habitual gaffes. At home, his Muslim-Muslim ticket would further erode internal cohesion, while his proposed statist policies and fiscal activism would destroy Nigeria’s economy.

Yet, Nigerians may elect him as the next president next week, which would vindicate the French philosopher Joseph de Maistre, who said: “Every country gets the government it deserves.” As someone also said, a rescue mission cannot succeed if people aren’t entirely sure they want to be saved. However, I believe Nigerians can choose to save Nigeria and themselves by rejecting Tinubu at the polls on February 25. Which brings me to the Yorubas. In a recent column, I wrote that two sections of Nigeria could make Tinubu the next president: the South-West, which might vote massively for him, and the North, which might give him enough votes to win the race.

However, in that column, I appealed to the North’s sense of patriotism, urging them not to foist Tinubu on Nigeria. Here, I appeal to the Yoruba’s sense of honour, their omoluabi ethos! The Yorubas pride themselves on the values of integrity, character and honesty. Perversely, however, they also have a saying that undermines those values. They say that omoeni ki sedibebere, ka fi ilekesiidiomoelomiran; meaning, roughly, that however ugly one’s child’s bottom is, one won’t put beads in the bottom of another person’s child. Well, true, literally.

But applied to politics, the saying absurdly means that even if someone from your tribe is an embezzler, a drug baron or an infirm you would choose him as governor or president over a better candidate from another tribe or ethnicity. Sadly, that’s how some Yorubas view Tinubu’s candidacy in the presidential election: he’s a Yoruba, so, we’ll vote for him! Of course, Tinubu opportunistically whips up the ethnic sentiments. Recently, while campaigning in Ado-Ekiti, he told the crowd: “This election is not about me because I’m not looking for what to eat.”

Really? So, despite the “lifelong ambition”, despite the emilokan sense of entitlement, he’s not in the race for himself but for Yorubas who are “looking for what to eat”? How insulting to supposedly well-educated people! Well, he went on. “This election is yours. You will use it to liberate yourselves,” he said, adding: “They want to turn us into slaves. We are not slaves.” How can Tinubu say anyone wants to turn Yorubas into slaves when they’ve produced president for eight years and vice-president for nearly eight years since 1999? What about Igbos who have produced none?

Ironically, if anyone is enslaving the Yoruba, it’s Tinubu himself. Chief Obafemi Awolowo liberated the Yoruba through education, and Tinubu is enslaving them, at least those in Lagos, through feudalism. He’s the “owner” of Lagos, the feudal lord, and everyone else, from the governor down to councillors are serfs, who must carry out his wishes. Feudalism is a social system alien to the Yoruba, but Tinubu feudalises Lagos, using his inexplicable wealth and political power to subjugate the people. Tinubu violates Yoruba’s moral code and introduces an alien system, feudalism, into the race. Yet, a Tinubu presidency would be such a disaster that it would do even more harm to the Yoruba race. Thus, it would be sad and shameful if Yorubas enabled it. Yoruba ronu!

Which Candidate Will Benefit from Buhari’s Naira Policy?

0

The Buhari regime’s naira “redesign” policy is causing discomfiture in the APC camp and joy in opposition camps. But will it benefit the opposition? Which candidate will benefit the most from it? That’s what I examine in this week’s column:

When I first suggested that the Buhari regime’s naira “redesign” policy was strategically conceived to cripple Bola Tinubu’s financial tendons for the 2023 presidential election, many people, particularly wide-eyed APC partisans, scoffed at me. But the very people who thought I was mistaken in my assessment are now re-echoing what I’d said.

The intensity of frustration and rage that APC governors have been ventilating over the policy is the surest signpost that they recognize the politically mortal danger that the policy poses for them in next week’s election. Their winning strategy was obviously anchored on the strength of their financial muscles. It had to be. With its sordid record of unrelieved deprivation for the vast majority of Nigerians, APC couldn’t possibly hope to rely on its performance as a basis to solicit votes.

To be fair to Tinubu, though, he was never directly in government in the past eight years and hasn’t directly influenced any of the policies that underline the Buhari regime. Given the complete absence of any clear-cut ideological or policy directions in Nigeria’s political parties, it’s reasonable to say that Tinubu’s future performance as president can’t be gleaned from Buhari’s past and present. Political parties are no more than mere vehicles to get to power.

That is why APC’s northern governors’ fulmination that the new naira policy, which has created an artificial scarcity and deepened the misery of everyday folks, was intended to make voters associate their suffering with APC in order to hurt the chances of the APC presidential candidate isn’t supported by the evidence. If that’s APC’s only worry, they should hold their horses because most voters now know that there’s a wide, unbridgeable gulf between the Buhari-led federal government and the APC presidential candidate.

The APC presidential campaign has done a great job of distancing Tinubu from Buhari’s naira policy, so I doubt that the collateral damage of the policy on Tinubu’s electoral chances that northern governors fear is justified. Most voters now know that Tinubu isn’t just his own man but is at odds with Buhari on so many issues.

So, it is now clear, if it wasn’t clear enough before, that the artificial scarcity of the naira days to the election not only has Buhari’s visible imprimatur in it but is actually his brainchild—in the fashion of his April 1984 naira redesign policy. That indicates that, as I’ve pointed out in many past columns, Buhari is invested in ensuring that his party’s candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, loses next week’s election.

But who will benefit the most from this? Supporters of both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi think the policy is designed to benefit their candidates. I have even seen a chorus of Peter Obi supporters singing Buhari’s praises and saying Buhari is secretly “Obi-dient” because he has seen parallels between his austere lifestyle and Obi’s. Ha!

Atiku’s supporters also assume that Buhari’s silent resentment of Tinubu has caused him to embrace Atiku with whom he had been locked in mortal political combat in 2019 and whom he had also financially hamstrung as a Machiavellian pre-election move. Recall that Buhari forced Atiku to divest his shares in Integrated Logistics Services Limited (Intels), his former “cash cow,” a few years before the 2019 election when it became clear that Atiku would challenge him.

Similarly, a well-regarded international journalist who is close to Nigeria’s power brokers told me in February 2019 that, like Jonathan in 2015, the Buhari cabal had prevailed on INEC to postpone the 2019 election because they wanted Atiku to spend himself lamely before Election Day. “Word from a very credible source within the ruling party: ‘we need to throw Atiku off his game. He’s invested too much and since yana da kudin banza [he has a lot of money] let him continue. It’s good for us.’,” she wrote in a chat.

Well, in an ironic twist, Atiku appears primed to be the major beneficiary of the hamstringing of Tinubu this time around. I don’t have any reliably exclusive insights into this, but my hunch tells me that if Tinubu has been so restrained by the politically engineered scarcity of the naira that he can’t financially induce voters to vote for him, Atiku may be president.

The realignment of forces in the Muslim North is now decidedly in his favour and, while he may not win the Christian North outright, he has a great fighting chance there because of his enduring image among northern Christians as a tolerant, cosmopolitan Muslim who has no known record of religious discrimination toward Christians.

In fact, the single most important reason for the erstwhile lukewarm reception he had received in the Muslim North was the perception that he was too comfortable in the midst of non-Muslims in ways no Northern Muslim politician of his stature has ever been.

APC vice presidential candidate Kashim Shettima’s recent amplification of this sentiment (he said northern Muslims should reject Atiku because he’d opposed Sharia in the early 2000s and resented being addressed as “Alhaji”) actually helps Atiku with northern Christians and does nothing to reverse the growing consensus around him in the Muslim North.

Plus, Atiku’s political tentacles across the length and breadth of Nigeria’s ethnoreligious labyrinth are deep and enduring. If he is not outspent (which the naira “redesign” policy seems calculated to achieve), he just might get lucky this time around.

Peter Obi might also theoretically benefit from the financial constraining of Tinubu, but whether it will be enough to one-up Atiku remains to be seen. Obi has to overcome enormous structural handicaps to have a chance at winning, and that seems almost insurmountable at this late stage.

Out of Nigeria’s 36 states, he will most certainly not get up to 25 percent in at least Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Kano, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Sokoto, Jigawa, Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, Katsina, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti. Even if he were to decisively win states in the Southeast, the South-South, Benue, and Plateau, he would still come up short by a lot.

Plus, opinion polls that show him with a commanding lead, most of which are mere partisan exaggerations to start with, overlook what we call social desirability bias in social science research and public opinion polling, which is a tendency for survey respondents to give answers that affirm sentiments that are thought to be sanctified by the community that respondents belong to or aspire to belong to.

In the United States, it used to manifest in what was called the Bradley or Wilder effect. The Bradley or Wilder effect was the phenomenon where white people used to lie to pollsters about their willingness to vote for Black candidates because they didn’t want to be seen as racist. This was used to exaggerate the electoral chances of African American candidates.

“Bradley effect” is named after Tom Bradley, an African American who ran for governor of the state of California in 1982. Opinion polls showed him leading his white opponent by several margins. In fact, exit polls (what people told pollsters after they voted) showed that he had won the election. Based on these exit polls, the media declared him the winner. But when the actual election results were released, he lost to his closest white opponent by a wide margin.

In 1989, seven years after Bradley’s shocking defeat, Douglas Wilder, America’s first elected African-American governor, nearly lost to his white opponent, even though opinion polls had shown that he was ahead of him by 15 percent. He won by a mere 6,700 votes.

Among southerners and Christians, there’s a lot of stigma in saying you will vote for Atiku Abubakar or Bola Tinubu—and for good reason, to be honest—so it’s not hard to see why they will tell pollsters that they will vote for Obi, the current darling of the South and of Christians, even if they will actually vote for another candidate. There are also a lot of reputational brownie points to be gained if a Muslim says he’ll vote for Obi, even if he won’t.

These factors may conspire to overestimate Obi’s electability in opinion polls even though he has virtually no presence in almost half of the country. Having said that, it’s still hard to tell how much impact Buhari’s politically engineered naira scarcity will have on APC’s vote-buying schemes because Nigeria’s political elites always have a way of circumventing barriers put in their way.

On the Current State of the Nation and the Currency Crises:

0
Nigerians in front of ATM Machines as the Nation continues in her Currency Crises
Nigerians in front of ATM Machines as the Nation continues in her Currency Crises

I hope it is now clear to us that the leadership that will change this country will need to be hard-core, display tough love, and will almost have to look like he/she is Anti-Citizen and insensitive.

Let me break this down:

I have found that the clamour for change by the ordinary man is really a clamour for what he truly doesn’t understand or grasp. There is no change without pain. There is no real change without the semblance of a “setback”. Everything that changes form, from a lower state to a higher state, MUST as a law of life, go through some seemingly painful process. The caterpillar to the butterfly; the seed to the plant; an unfit body to a better fit or better-toned body, just to mention a few; Life is scattered across with the pointers that prove this to be true!

Let me bring this home.

As Nigerians, the bitter truth is that WE ARE ALL, directly or indirectly beneficiaries of the systemic corruption that has been engraved into the fabric of our society. As matter of fact, corruption has been so embedded that it trickles down, such that should the source of it be cut or attacked, the corrupt politicians or political class do not need to raise a finger to fight it, the masses will fight on their behalf. Such is the summary of what we are currently experiencing. Massive cash in our system has for a very long time been perhaps the primary tool of sustained corruption and economic sabotage.

It is the singular tool through which corruption can be perpetuated on a massive scale without a trace. On the other end, it is also the tool through which the poorest in society transact on a daily basis. The chief beneficiaries of corruption, therefore, know that should a policy like we currently have come to life, the masses will do the fighting! Which is exactly what is happening today.

Have we all been affected by the policy?

Absolutely. I run a construction outfit, and as I type this, the work we were supposed to carry out on one of our sites today has been suspended because the workers want cash. Not to talk of the various declined yet debited transactions I have experienced because the banks’ infrastructures are trying to adjust to the load brought on them by the policy. So even though I am also a beneficiary of the inconvenience, I know deep inside that this is the ONLY way to curb some major anomalies in our system that have helped destroy our economy.

The corrupt politicians, however, are now using the people, even the educated ones, to fight the policy because all of a sudden, the corrupt monies they have stashed in their homes and properties are at risk. Please think about this for a minute; how many genuine traders do you think have billions stashed in cash?  How many of the people on the street protesting have millions in cash? All the sacks and bundles of cash we see on social media, do we think it belongs to the common man?

We also have some middle-class accomplices of the corrupt politicians using their positions in some of the banks to further help frustrate the masses (by refusing to release even the minimum amount CBN has asked that people should have access to); so that the masses can, in turn, fight the policy on behalf of the some of these bank officials’ corrupt benefactors! That is why, for instance, we would see a video of a bank with stashed currencies in their vault and yet refusing to load their ATMs or release them to the people. Hear me! We have more of a people-to-people problem in Nigeria than we have a leadership-to-people problem! Our leadership is just a reflection of the people! The POS operators, and the fuel attendants, are all taking advantage of the situation and defrauding their fellow men, yet conveniently pointing at the leadership! We only need to think, and we would see!

The rampant kidnapping that besieged us as a nation has, in the last month, reduced drastically since the policy took effect. The kidnappers know there is no cash to pay ransoms! Naira is now more scarce than the dollars in Nigeria, and in the black market, demand and supply determine the price. The immediate gains are there for all to see, but the pain and current inconvenience are rather swallowing it up and enjoying all the attention!

We have more US dollars and British pounds in cash circulating in our markets than the owners of the currencies have in their own country. I was trying to purchase an item once in the UK using a £50 bill, and the store attendant had to go to the backroom for almost 20 minutes trying to confirm the note. He came out with his supervisor at some point and they both went back in when they finally came out, I asked what the issue was, and they politely explained that the attendant had never seen a £50 bill and secondly, they don’t have people randomly walking in with £50 to make purchases and so they needed to call to know what security checks to look out for!

I stood there wondering to myself, “This same £50 that Abdullahi and his colleagues have bundles of in Sabo market?”. Something is definitely wrong! CBN at various times tried to intervene in the exchange rate crises but soon realised that there was enough cash in our system outside the banks to mop up any dollars released into the market, such that it makes any intervention by CBN of no effect. Any fx they release for legitimate trade or reasons were mopped up immediately by corrupt cash stashes in the hands of the corrupt politicians, leaving the legitimate transactions with no fx still and the demand for fx continued to rise and hence the price!

The corrupt politicians also have stashes of these monies that they had planned to buy votes with. You cannot say a party agent who you need to pay does not have a bank account in the name of the hinterlands. Come on!!!

So, what exactly is the cash required for in the elections?

Hear me! The corrupt rich are banking like they always have on the average poor masses and middle-class individuals to fight on their behalf because they know our corruption is so embedded that we will all feel the pain if a fight to behead the source of the corruption starts. Another example is the fuel subsidy. The beneficiaries of the subsidy scam are again the corrupt super-rich elite. But we are also beneficiaries because we buy petrol cheaply compared to other countries. They know that should the government choose to behead that source of corruption (subsidy) that is killing the country gradually, the masses and the middle class will be the ones to fight because all of a sudden, fuel may be sold for N600 or even more across the country as is the case of diesel today.

Our refineries will also not work to capacity until first the corruption is tackled. So, the chief beneficiaries of this corruption are excited knowing the battle is not theirs to fight. So, that brings us back to the word – Change?

Are we truly ready for a change?

Singapore, China, Rwanda, Dubai and all the countries we refer to as third world to first world; have we studied them to see the painful processes they went through? I have found that one common denominator to all the countries mentioned above in which they differ in comparison to Nigeria was that the leaders that took the hard decisions had a tenure that was long enough to sustain and complete the process regardless of what the people felt temporary. It was what you will call a “benevolent dictator”. Today, the gains are clear for all to see. We, however, have a different system and will have to work within the confines of what we practise.

However, Nigeria! Are we truly ready for a change?

We have a ruling party for whom the aspirants from the same party are already looking to change the policy once they are elected. Even the so-called favourite candidate of the middle class and the other aspirant of the other major opposition party has also decided to intentionally use the current policy pain as a political campaign tool. The pain they know is certainly required if any change will happen in this country.

This singular trend makes me wonder if there is really any popular candidate on the ballot that has what it takes and the sincerity of purpose to do the right thing! Listen! Any president in this country who will not make the hard calls that will seem painful to all is truly just a chameleon in search of power and has nothing to offer! The country will remain the way it is even after its tenure is over. Mark these words!

On the balance, however, we must also ask the vital question – why did this current administration wait until this last minute to effect this all-important policy? I will never understand this, and it’s quite hard to explain away. As I have always maintained, one of the biggest undoings of this current administration is communication. They consistently erroneously equate announcements with communication!

Whichever decisions are made after now or whatever direction is taken, let it be clear that there is pain we must all endure for true change to come. This, however, is not what Twitter Nigeria wants to hear. We are more interested in insults, dragging and clapping back than we are in actual deep thinking. The problem is that sound knowledge and intelligence are no longer a prerequisite for visibility thanks to social media!

We now have kings on foot and servants on horses.

Comedians with followership with no economic knowledge have become economic analysts, quick to talk about what they have zero understanding of simply because they have a million or more followers who followed them because they needed someone to make them laugh. I remember hearing one of them despising the move to change the currency, when it was first announced, comparing it to painting a house as a remedy to curing its structural defect. Such ignorance!

How can you compare it to that? Of course, people laughed and liked it! The corruption is embedded, and we are all direct or indirect beneficiaries, and we must therefore ask ourselves in our closet. Are we truly ready for a change?

Rhapsody of Realities – THE FIRSTBORN OF THE FATHER, Monday, February 20th 2023, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD DSc DD

0

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence (Colossians 1:18).

Notice that the Bible didn’t call Jesus the firstborn from Mary; rather, He’s called “the firstborn from the dead.” It’s talking about spiritual death because Jesus died spiritually. Our sins were laid on him (Isaiah 53:6; 1 Peter 2:24) as He was the representative of all sinners. But upon fulfilling the righteous demands of justice, God raised him from the dead. Hallelujah!

When He was raised from the dead, God declared: “…Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee” (Acts 13:33). That’s why He’s called the first begotten or firstborn of the Father. Before His death, He was called the only begotten of the Father.

Jesus being the firstborn of the Father means He’sthe Head and we, the Church, are His Body. God raised Him from the dead together with His Body. We’re therefore inextricably one with Him. He heads up the new creation who are begotten of the Father.

The Bible says “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29). He’s the first among us, and as He is, so are we in this world! Hallelujah!

He is the glory of God; and like Him, we’re the glory of God. The Bible says He has brought many sons to glory (Hebrews 2:10). He was the first to be born again; and like Him, we’ve been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which lives and abides forever (1 Peter 1:23). Blessed be God!

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the vicarious death of Jesus in my behalf, who was delivered for my offences and was raised again for my justification. Now, I walk in the consciousness of my oneness with Him, walking in, and manifesting your righteousness; reigning and ruling with Christ from the heavenly realms, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

#KeepSayingItMonday, 20th February 2023

God’s Word is nourishment for my spirit, refreshment for my soul and health for my body. I am conscious of God’s Word, and I believe what it says about me. God’s Word says I have eternal life and I live in divine health; I believe it with all my heart, and I affirm it with my mouth: I have eternal life and I live in divine health! My life is for the glory of God! I dwell in the secret place of the Most High, and abide under the shadow of the Almighty in health, safety, prosperity and joy. In everything I do today, and everywhere I go, I’m mindful of God’s love, and that consciousness inspires faith and boldness in me to face the circumstances of life and win. Excellence, glory, health, peace, virtue, and success are the hallmarks of my life because the grace of God is superabundant upon me.

I am conscious of my divine origin; therefore, the circumstances of life are subject to me. I’m seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all principalities, powers, might, and dominions. Divine life has been imparted into my spirit through Jesus Christ. That life in me destroys, paralyzes, and renders ineffective and inoperative, the works of the devil and his attempts in my health, family, finances, and business. The Word of God produces life in me and lights up my mind to the realities of my potentials and abilities in Christ. I’m living the transcendent life because I live in, and by, the Word. Prosperity, love, joy, health, peace, victory, and success are my present-moment experiences, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

The PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar
The PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar

Fellow Nigerians, this is how ATIKU became the “acclaimed” businessman he is today. Please I do not have any partisan political agenda, but rather a factual report on ATIKU as a Presidential aspirant in Nigeria. Please any or all ATIKU supporters or his campaign structure are free to deny these submissions with facts not sentiments.

As Head of the National Council on Privatization (NCP), since 1999, @atiku dug Nigeria’s economic grave for today’s extreme poverty and unemployment. There were over 600 federal assets when @atiku’s NCP started selling. Atiku should tell us who bought what and what was left for the country when he left power.

In 2007, Onigbolo Cement operating at 500,000 tonnes per annum was sold to Dangote at N1.7Bn. To those selling Atiku, let me remind you of the @NGRSenate public hearing of August 2011 which succinctly captures how @atiku through the retinue of cohorts, fronts, and shell companies, ring-fenced over 70% of FG’s assets through a brazen daylight robbery privatization that he supervised.

This is nothing sensational. It’s real-life facts and all the Senators are alive today. The 2011 privatization Senate committee was made up of Senator Ahmed Lawan – Chairman, Senators Babafemi Ojudu, Philip Aduda, Mohammed Ndume, Ifeanyi Okowa, Hope Uzodinma and Mohammadu Magoro. Let’s look at the Aluminium Smelting Company, ALSCON, that Atiku privatized. ALSCON which Nigeria built with $3.2 billion, was sold to a Russian firm, Russal, for $ 130 million. As of the time of sale, ALSCON had received $ 120 million for the dredging of Imo River but was never done.

When the Senate Seating of August 2011 asked the Russian company the whereabouts of the $ 120 million dredging money, the company’s Deputy Managing Director, Vitaly Kuzrestov, said that the money has been used for Environment Impact Assessment.” EIA kill you there. FG’s Five per cent share in Eleme Petrochemical worth USD27 million was never presented to the National Council on Privatization before it was sold to Indorama. Indorama recovered this amount by selling Polyethylene and Urea to the entire west African sub-region in just 14 months.

The Atikulate Business Theory: Sell to yourself Government assets that leave millions in penury, to set up personal businesses that provide for a few. @Atiku didn’t employ the few hundreds he employed because he likes them, he needs them to work to preserve what he took from Government. Fam, the business acumen of Atiku you are bandying about is smelly. A man who supervised sales of over 145 federal investments as a vice president, without a thought for today wants to be president. He didn’t revitalize them. He didn’t resuscitate them. He sold them to whomever. May Nigeria succeed”

Court Stops INEC from Engaging MC Oluomo to Distribute Election Materials in Lagos

The Residential Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, and the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo
The Residential Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, and the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission from engaging the services of the chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, to distribute election materials in the state pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed by the Labour Party and five others.

The court granted “an order of interlocutory injunction filed by the Labour Party and five others restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (defendant/respondent), whether by itself or by its officers, affiliates, servants, privies or agents or any person acting or purporting to act for and on behalf howsoever from taking any steps or further steps whatsoever in furtherance of the engagement or appointment or consummating the appointment of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo-led Lagos State Parks Management Committee or any of its commercial bus drivers to distribute 2023 election materials and personnel in Lagos State pending the hearing and determination the substantive suit.”

INEC in Lagos State had reacted to a backlash following a letter written by MC Oluomo asking the electoral umpire to contract the distribution of materials to him, saying it (INEC) was engaging parks managers in the state and not MC Oluomo. The Residential Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, had said. On the issue of MC Oluomo, the commission is not concerned with Oluomo. We are concerned with the issue of motor park administration in Lagos.

For the past two years, the Lagos State government has banned the operations of the NURTW and RTEAN in the state. They had problems and the state government banned them. So we are left with Lagos State Park and Garages and the National Association of Road Transport Owners, adding that NARTO, which, according to him, the commission was already working with, is not able to meet up with the 40 percent needs of the commission for this election, hence the commission’s consideration of engaging the MC Oluomo-led Lagos State Parks and Garages.

We are not dealing with MC Oluomo, Agbaje had said, adding that we are dealing with park managers. They are individual persons that have vehicles that we are going to use for the elections. The law has already banned the NURTW from operating in the state so we cannot violate the law by patronizing them. It will be working against the law if we have to be working with the banned associations. So it cannot work.”

Reactions immediately trailed the disclosure by the Lagos State REC. Human Rights Writers’ Association had rejected the plan by INEC to engage MC Oluomo-led parks management for election logistics, stressing that MC Oluomo was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress saying that allowing MC Oluomo group to transport election materials amounts to kissing a free and fair election in Lagos goodbye. The fact that INEC Nigeria even thought of this preposterous idea speaks volumes as to how unreliable and biased that body is.

The plan of INEC to use the organization led by a known APC member who has been seen in many rallies of Bola Tinubu in Lagos, Ogun, Kwara, Osun, Ekiti, and other places is condemnable and anti-democratic. HURIWA rejects this in its entirety. Apparently, the Lagos Resident Electoral commissioner is working for Tinubu and APC. INEC needs to immediately redeploy him for electoral integrity if any at all will be achieved in the next election.

Also, HURIWA demands that INEC finds an alternative to the Central Bank of Nigeria and not keep sensitive and non-sensitive materials in the custody of the apex bank headed by a known APC member and in fact a former presidential aspirant of the ruling party. This is totally wrong,” said a statement signed by the National Coordinator of HURIWA, Emmanuel Onwubiko.

The Labour Party rejected INEC’s contract with the MC Oluomo -led parks management and called for the removal of the Lagos REC, Agbaje. The Labour Party, through the spokesperson for its presidential campaign council, Akin Osuntokun, said: we initially took the allegation with a pinch of salt, believing that INEC was conscious of red lines in these elections and that common sense and logic would not permit such arbitrariness. However, as days passed by, it became clear to us that the news report was correct, especially as the explanation given by INEC National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, does not go far enough in refuting this association.

Osuntokun had added that the recent public statements by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos State, Olusegun Agbaje, bordering on sectional bias and resentment, have shown overwhelming partisanship on his side, and therefore, he cannot be trusted with the onerous task of conducting an unbiased election in a volatile state like Lagos.

We recall further, with apprehension, that the heavily criticised 2018 Osun State governorship rerun election, wherein Mr Gboyega Oyetola was controversially declared the winner to the dismay of the populace, including international observers, was also conducted by this same Olusegun Agbaje. It is, therefore, against the above backdrop, that we demand the immediate cancellation of the logistics contract between INEC and MC Oluomo.

Stressing that INEC could use other hands as REC, Osuntokun added, “We also want an immediate redeployment and blacklisting from any election duty, anywhere, of the Lagos REC, Olusegun Agbaje, whose recent actions have raised doubts about his suitability as an election supervisor. There are far too many capable Nigerians of good professional and ethical standards available within INEC, to conduct an acceptable election, than to run the risk of any unpopular pre-determined outcome, which his conduct, strongly suggests.

NIGERIA! – My Final Thoughts before the Presidential Election this Saturday, Feb 25.

0

God is in control, but we must give Him something to work with…

When you speak to so many people in Nigeria, these days, and ask how things are going, especially with respect to the elections, they will respond, “God is in control”. I have often been tempted to say, “we all know that God is in control, after all, he made man and the universe, but have you given him something to work with?” Many of us genuinely want Nigeria to get better. But some just do not want to do their part. They want God to procure PVC for them and then vote for them. Or better yet, they want a miracle from God that will just change Nigeria overnight.  Unfortunately, things do not work that way, if they did, Nigeria would be a far better place than it is today considering the number of churches there that preach the “God is in control” doctrine without lifting a finger to do their part.  Even when Jesus performed the wine miracle, he had something to work with- the people provided water. When he performed the miracle of bread loaves, he had something to work with, the people provided bread.

The 2023 Presidential election takes place in a few days. It is highly consequential. It will determine the fate of Nigeria and Nigerians. For those who failed to get their PVCs, you have basically ceded your ability, if not right, to complain if things continue on the wrong path in Nigeria. But for those who procured their PVCs and are now mulling whether to go and vote, I will make the decision easy for you.  I say, clear your calendar of every other commitment. On that day, leave your house early and go to your polling precinct. Stand in line until you are able to vote. If you live in a city like Lagos but are registered in your town or village, plan to travel back and vote. It may be inconvenient but worth doing. If you live in the city and registered to vote there, stay put and no matter the provocation, on that day, go out, stand in line and only leave the line when you have voted.

Yes, I am super pleased that I will not be hearing or reading too much about cases of people being paid for their votes. It gives you the opportunity to go out and vote your conscience. Even if your candidate ends up not winning, you have earned the right to complain afterwards. Ndi Nnewi nasi na “Ukpana Okpoko bulu, imalu na nti chii nyabu ukpana”. It means, if a grasshopper is carried away by a swarm of bees and eaten, it means that that grasshopper is deaf. Why? because these bees(Okpoko) make so much noise as they approach that only the deaf will not know that they are coming. Many have written, many have sounded the alarm, many have shouted from rooftops, and many of our youth have basically left what they do and concentrated on making jingles, satires, and videos all to inform Nigerians why they should take this election seriously and vote. If you have not at least heard part of that message, then you have fallen in line with the deaf grasshopper and whatever negative result comes out of the fact that you did not vote, stand ready to absorb it and don’t complain.

Na so me I see am oo. This ends my advocacy. I will now stand by in readiness for the results of the efforts of well-meaning Nigerians on February 25.

Good Luck Y’all

SO WHAT, IF PETER OBI CONTESTS AND LOSES?

0
The man of the moment. The Labour Party Presidential Candidate, HE. Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON.
The man of the moment. The Labour Party Presidential Candidate, HE. Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, CON.

Igbo will lose nothing, absolutely nothing, but would have gained everything. My pity is to the poor masses because the suffering and massacre will continue, and may result in the disintegration of the country. What Charles Soludo in his shallow reasoning and treacherous ambition is trying to do is to pull Ndigbo back to Egypt, when the rest of progressive Nigeria is offering Ndigbo a lifeline to escape the bondage of Pharaoh. Peter Obi, by coming out to contest and commanding such a worldwide appeal, has already erased the stigma of the civil war and pulled the Igbo man back into reckoning. He has restored the broken third leg of the tripod of political power in this country. This is what prophet Soludo is not seeing, blinded by his prejudices against Obi and his inordinate and treacherous ambition for the political limelight.

And what brought us this far? It is the Igboman’s resolute and decided stand against the Caliphate’s bizarre rule since the inception of Buhari’s rudderless administration eight years ago. It is not timid squirming under the shadow of the Cabal as Soludo is suggesting we should do. In fact, his attitude and school of thought are what is puffing up the Cabal and making them assume what they are not. At last, the Igbo nation has seized to be a traditional hunting ground for spineless vice president and minister of information who holds the cow while they are milking it!

What have we got to lose standing on our feet and saying no to tyranny and misrule? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Rather the whole progressive Nigeria is running to us to escape clueless unqualified leadership and calamitous rule of the Cabal, and also to define a new narrative for politics as never before. The Cabal are now the ones that are jittery. It pays to take a principled stand no matter the situation and for how long. It is just a matter of time before one’s position will be vindicated.

The outrage of Ndigbo and the rest of Nigeria is not so much what Soludo said in the way and manner he presented them. Is he not aware, as the governor, he is the father of all Anambrarians irrespective of age and status; therefore one would have expected him to invite Peter Obi as a son and discuss his concern about Obi’s candidacy, and his preference for an ageing and terminally sick kleptomaniac drug baron of very low integrity and questionable character instead, in the name of political structure. And if my understanding of structure is people, not buildings, it is only a dead and insensitive structure that will still be standing for APC after the calamity of the last eight years.

My exposure to American Politics taught me that no politician goes against the mood of the people who elected him unless he resigns first. Yes, the Anambra people elected him, and he, Soludo, admitted Obi will likely win the Anambra state; so that is the mood of the Anambra people. And so his vulgar and infantile eruption against Peter Obi is indeed a direct insult to the people of Anambra state and betrays him, Soludo, as a political neophyte. He will live to see the painful result of his misadventure.

We, Ndigbo, should be careful how little intellectual knowledge or wealth puffs us to the point of losing our senses. And that is why I admire and praise the Yorubas for their maturity, humility and native intelligence. Of all Tunubu’s monumental failings, no Yoruba governor has come out to challenge or publicly castigate him, not even his state governor. Does that mean they’re dummies? No! It shows them to be wise. Ndigbo has had so many outstanding intellectuals, past and present who remained submissive and amenable to Igbo authority and collective will; people like Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Chinua Achebe, Ogbonnaya Onu, Barth Nnaji and even late Pius Okigbo who was regarded as an icon in Soludo’s field of economics. So Soludo should please be careful before he catches the fever of the proverbial bird, Nza, in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, if he has not already done so. He should be careful because all the people he is fronting for, as many believe, can only use and dump him. He can go and ask Umahi, Ameachi, Okorocha, etc – (Izu ka nma na nne ji); tete-a-tete is best between blood relations.

Odumegwu Ojukwu made us understand that power is taken, not given. Peter Obi is boldly taking power from the Cabal. The event of the last APC and PDP primaries should convince any fool that the  Cabal can never willingly hand over power to an Igboman. All of a sudden,  the zoning formula, for which the blood of baboons and monkeys would have flowed during the tenure of Goodluck Jonathan, was terminated. Even if for any reason on earth the Cabal is made to voluntarily hand over power, which I strongly doubt, they’ll give it to the likes of Orji Uzor Kalu to ridicule and prove that the Igbo are not capable of ruling Nigeria. God forbid! Why didn’t they pick the younger cerebral, agile and vibrant Osibanjo in preference to Tinubu? Indeed, fools don’t see.

And talking about Obi’s investments as being worthless, my question is: Were Obi’s investments worthless when they were made? As an economist, Soludo should have known that the value of investment fluctuates with time; and if over eight years after leaving office that investment was mismanaged, Soludo should be blaming his immediate predecessor, not Peter Obi. To the Obi-dients, Soludo’s assault should be a wake-up call to tighten loose ends. More effort should be geared towards demystifying the myth of so-called structure in the political equation, especially in rural areas where hunger is strengthening the structures. When Obi visited flood victims and offered financial help, it does not mean he violated his policy of not giving ‘shishi’. He is only responding to the exigencies of the time and situation. Extraordinary situations deserve extraordinary measures; necessity knows no law. The situation in rural areas fits into this axiom. And this is where 40% of the voters reside. The hawkish opponents are definitely exploiting it to the detriment of the Labour Party.

Finally, my Igbo brethren, let us take advantage of the advent of Peter Obi to put an end to our policy of political compromises, and learn to stand firm on principles, like Afenifere, PANDEV, and the Middle Best forum. That is the only way to put an end to the caliphate’s arrogance and bring about restructuring and desired change. We lost nothing from our principled stand on Buhari’s emergence, which will soon expire. And we will lose nothing even if Peter Obi contests and loses. Instead, it will earn us more respect and followership. So let us turn our backs to the likes of Orji, Uzodinma, Nnamani, and others, whose only purpose is to collect stipends and take us back to Egypt. Going by the mood of the nation and all predictions, PETER OBI HAS ALREADY WON THIS ELECTION. He can only lose to FRAUD!

KADUNA UPDATE: Let us stand up strongly for democracy, peace and national unity

0
Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai
Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai

State Broadcast by Malam Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State, 16th February 2023.

My dear people of Kaduna State,

1. With just about 100 days before leaving office, and elections just around the corner, it was my intention to host another media chat to interact with the people of our state in the next few days. While I still hope to do so, I feel the need to address you all today due to the unprecedentedly cruel situation our people and their livelihoods have been thrown into, particularly in the last two to three weeks by the decisions,  actions and inactions of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

2. On behalf of the government of Kaduna State, I wish to express my deepest regret at the needless suffering you are enduring as a result of the prolonged fuel shortage and the difficulties occasioned by the so-called “currency redesign” policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria. We understand your pain. I assure you that as your State Governor, I have been working with my other colleagues to do everything in our power to end these pains.

3. While publicly supporting what appeared to be a beneficial policy, we innocently engaged privately with the President and the leadership of the Central Bank of Nigeria to review the implementation of the policy so as to reduce its negative impact on the lives and livelihoods of our people and end the pain being inflicted on citizens. In the absence of any progress to modify implementation on the part of the architects, we were forced to go public about two weeks ago, with our concerns and demand that this suffering must stop.

4. We take seriously our duty to protect ordinary people from the consequences of these policy fiascos. The sad fact is that the victims of these mindless policies are the people that elected us. It is their welfare that is being threatened. Many of our people have been left in a situation where the money they put in banks has literally been confiscated, depriving them of the ability to buy food and basic necessities. Our traders cannot sell as much as they used to because their customers have no access to their hard-earned money.

5. We have been officially informed that the currency redesign policy is to reduce money laundering and render useless stashes of high denomination Naira that many politicians and public officers have accumulated through corruption and other illicit activities. As earlier stated, we are fully in support of such a policy and we made this public from the beginning.

6. We had privately expressed concerns about the timing of the currency design policy and the unrealistic timeline for its implementation. We were assured that all steps have been taken to ensure that we avoid the recent experience of India, where the implementation of a similar demonetisation policy targeted at politicians ended up hurting the poorest and small businesses the most.

7. In official briefings to the President, the Central Bank of Nigeria constantly alluded to the fact that the policy also targets politicians who have accumulated a huge war chest for vote buying during the elections. It is now clear that the President has been deceived by the Central Bank of Nigeria and some elements in his government into buying into this overarching narrative, in the name of ensuring free and fair elections in 2023.

8. It is important for the people of Kaduna State, and indeed Nigeria, to know that contrary to the public pronouncements and apparent good intentions, this policy was conceived and sold to the President by officials who completely lost out in the Gubernatorial and Presidential Primaries of the APC in June 2022.

9. Once Asiwaju Bola Tinubu emerged as the candidate in June 2022, and subsequently did not pick one of them as his running mate, this currency redesign policy was conceived to ensure that the APC presidential candidate is deprived of what they alleged is a humongous war chest. They also sought to achieve any one or more of the following objectives:

a. Create a nationwide shortage of cash so that citizens are incited to vote against APC candidates across the board resulting in massive losses for the Party in all the elections;

b. Ensure that the cash crunch is so serious, along with the contrived and enduring fuel shortage existing since September 2022, that the 2023 Elections do not hold at all, leading to an Interim National Government to be led by a retired Army General;

c. Sustain the climate of shortage of fuel, food and other necessities, leading to mass protests, violence and breakdown of law and order that would provide a fertile foundation for a military take-over;

10. In the pursuit of these objectives, the Central Bank of Nigeria and these other disgruntled Federal officials have so far convinced the President that it is fine for ordinary citizens to be dispossessed of their hard-earned money and starved if need be, while small and medium-sized businesses are deprived of access to their capital, thereby bringing trade and exchange to a grinding halt. All our efforts to modify the implementation of the policy to avoid what we assumed were unintended consequences were unsuccessful. I chose to speak out first as one person that has been particularly close to the President, believing that his actions were motivated by innocence, and mindful of his legacy. I have no regrets about doing my duty in this regard. One day, the President will appreciate what some of us are being insulted for today.

11. Yet, the politicians that the officials have convinced the President to regard as the real targets of the currency redesign policy have not been impeded in any way by it so far. Indeed, two of the presidential candidates and a running mate of the opposition parties own or have preferred access to some of the licensed banks. For that reason and by various clandestine arrangements, these politicians have access to hundreds of millions of these new notes, while the traders, merchants, students and other citizens are queuing for days to withdraw a few thousand Naira just to buy food and necessaries.

12. Within two to three weeks of implementation, it was clear to everyone that the architects of this policy can see that it is our people that are being terribly affected, and not the politicians. It is quite unfortunate that many politicians who either own banks or have privileged access to money are so insulated from the pains of talakawa that they are recklessly endorsing a policy that is being badly implemented.

13. I am referring here to the comments by the candidate of one of the opposition parties who expressed opposition to the recommendation first of the APC state governors, and subsequently of all the governors under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors Forum that the implementation timeline is extended, to enable the old and new notes to be legal tender side by side until the cash shortage ends.

14. My dear people of Kaduna State. Let me explain how the architects of this policy intentionally designed it to fail. The total currency in circulation in Nigeria was estimated at N3.2 trillion at the end of 2022. According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, N2.1 trillion has been withdrawn as of early February. The CBN claimed that N700bn is the amount of cash needed for their functioning vision of a “cash-less” Nigerian economy. The Chief Economic Adviser to the President, Dr Doyin Salami disagree with this estimate and believes at least N2 trillion of currency needs to be in circulation for our economic sustainability. Other experts variously estimate this to be between N1.2 trillion and above, so the CBN number of N700bn is not realistic.

15. The CBN informed the President at the very beginning that the Mint (NSPMC) has enough capacity to print the needed currency in circulation within the 6-week timeframe for the so-called ‘cash swap’. By its own admission, only N400bn worth of new notes had been printed for CBN as of early February. The current cash shortage was therefore designed from the beginning, the President was lied to about the domestic capacity of the Mint to print, and even if the announced N700bn was printed, it would have been grossly inadequate anyway. Imagine printing only N400bn, and making most of it unavailable to the banks but passed to favoured entities through special arrangements. How can the CBN collect N2.1 trillion from citizens and print only N400bn? Is this not a clear case of economic sabotage?

16. It is bad economics to so curtail economic activity and the velocity of circulation of money. It is also insensitive to deliberately cause cash shortages and then seek to instigate the public against the most innocent commercial banks. Even the most honest and prudent action by banks cannot magically make N400bn look like N2.1 trillion, or have the same spread and availability like the CBN should have ensured. As a regulator, the CBN should not be seen to be setting up the banking sector as the public enemy to cover up the glaring failure in its design and implementation of the cash swap policy.

17. We have repeatedly appealed to the Federal Government to allow whatever remains of the old notes to circulate concurrently with the new notes. We recommended that the Federal Government should also hasten to ensure that more of the new notes are printed and brought into circulation. We thought that if the Nigerian Mint is incapable of printing the volume of cash needed as it appears, then necessary steps must urgently be taken to get a reliable supply source.

18. There is no reason why the old notes and the new notes should not coexist until the old notes are gradually withdrawn over the years as is done in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and other countries. It is unfortunate that in implementing this policy, Nigeria is departing from global best practise, without any compelling justification. The Kaduna State Government did all these, not in opposition to any person or authority, but because we stand with our people and their interests.

19. When it was clear that our recommendations will not be seriously considered, the Kaduna State Government decided, along with the governments of Kogi and Zamfara States to declare a dispute with the Federal Government. In line with the provisions of the Constitution, we approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria to invoke its original jurisdiction to hear us and the cries of our people. The Court did on February 8th, and ordered that the deadline of February 10th for all the ‘old’ notes ceasing to be legal tender be rescinded until the determination of the suit. This ruling applies to the Federal Government and its agencies like the CBN, and all commercial banks! We are grateful to the Court for this ruling, and we had hoped that compliance by the CBN and the banks would bring relief to our people. It is now clear that the architects of this policy are determined to continue to inflict maximum pain on the citizens to achieve their objectives outlined earlier.

20. It was our hope that the Federal Government of Nigeria would welcome this injunction as an opportunity to mitigate the needless human suffering being experienced and correct its course on this matter. There is no emergency situation that justifies the rushed and seemingly deliberate incompetent execution of this policy. We suggested that compliance with the ruling would include adopting a whole-of-government approach, that involves the agencies of the federal and state governments in modifying the design and executing the implementation of the currency redesign policy.

21. Even when confronted with the facts above, the CBN and its masters remain determined to implement their agenda no matter how much human suffering, death and destruction results. It is clear that the architects of this policy always had objectives that are totally in conflict with the public interest, peace and the unity of Nigeria. They neither considered our suggestions in line with the Court order nor respected the unanimous resolution of the Council of State.

22. It is also quite revealing that the Federal Government and its agencies not only disobeyed the February 8th ruling by continuing to say the February 10th deadline stands. It is shocking to see the blatant violation of the subsisting and continuing order of the Supreme Court that ALL the old and new notes should continue to be legal tender until it gives judgment in the case filed by the Kaduna State Government along with several others.

23. The address by the President earlier this morning limiting the legal tender status of old notes to only N200 amounts to total disregard and disobedience of the ruling of February 8th which was extended further yesterday by the Supreme Court. The misguided action of the Attorney-General to mislead the President into engaging in this public violation of the order of the highest court of the land shows how desperate the policy architects are to cause national chaos, by showing open contempt for the judiciary.

24. The decision to recognise only N200 as legal tender till April that the President announced this morning was offered to the state governments as part of proposals for an out-of-court settlement three days ago. The Federal Government asserted that this was offered because all the ‘old’ N1,000 and N500 notes had been destroyed. We rejected the offer and proved to the officials that not a single higher denomination note had been destroyed. We also believe that circulating N200 only to be inadequate in alleviating the suffering that we see every day. We insisted that all the components of the Supreme Court order should be complied with.

25. But back home, what do we do in Kaduna State? My dear people of Kaduna State, with the foregoing revelations, it is clear that our peaceful coexistence as a state, and a nation, is being placed in deliberate danger using the intentional combination of fuel and cash supply disruptions. These evil people using the instrumentality of the Federal Government and the President as convenient covers are willing to truncate our democracy because they have personally lost out. They are massively deploying resources and tools to defeat the political party that gave us the platform to serve the country just because they could not impose the candidates of their choice. Let us not help them

26. Let us stay calm and peaceful, and support the lawful means being utilised to solve our problems. On behalf of the Kaduna State Government, I wish to assure you that none of you would lose the money you have in old notes. Let no artificial and illegal deadline frighten you. Whether you live in towns, villages or in our isolated rural communities, do not feel stampeded to deposit your old notes in the banks. Hold on to them. Continue to use them as legal tender as ordered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. No deadline can render them worthless, ever. The law is on your side. The Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007 and the Bills of Exchange Act oblige the CBN to recognise your old notes and give you value in new notes whenever you bring them to the CBN, even in the next 100 years.

27. Therefore, as your governor, I wish to assure you that the Kaduna State Government, in collaboration with elected legislators, traditional institutions, elected local government councils, markets, and traders associations will help you collect, record, document, collate and deliver all your old notes to the Kaduna branch of the Central Bank on your behalf into the new ones immediately after the elections. We will also ensure the delivery of your new notes to your various locations without any hardship or expense on your part. We shall save you any panic and the stress of a long journey from your community to the CBN office in our state capital, from March until December 2023 if need be.

28. For the avoidance of doubt, all the old and new notes shall remain in use as legal tender in Kaduna State until the Supreme Court of Nigeria decides otherwise. I, therefore, appeal to all Kaduna State residents to continue using the old and new notes side by side without any fear. The Kaduna State Government and its agencies shall seal any facility that refuses to accept the old notes as legal tender and prosecute the owners. If need be, we shall take further consequential actions according to the law.

29. While urging you all not to fall for these antics of the enemies of Nigeria, please be patient and continue to exercise resilience in the face of open provocation and deliberate disinformation. We encourage you to be ready with your PVC to vote in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections. We are doing all we can to ensure that it is peaceful, orderly and hitch-free. I appeal to you to understand the shenanigans of these unpatriotic elements in Abuja and ensure your vote massively for the intended victims of these last-minute policies of needless hardship and incitement of the citizens – our party, the APC and its candidates in all the elections.

30. The Kaduna State Government is making this appeal, and taking all these measures to shield our people from the terrible consequences of the currency redesign policy. We seek to protect our people’s hard-earned money, and their ability to engage in trade and exchange and buy what they need. We also seek to protect their civic rights, liberties and freedoms under a democratic dispensation. I call on the people of Kaduna State to remain peaceful and vigilant in the face of brazen attempts to engineer a crisis in order to get a pretext for unconstitutional or undemocratic actions.

31. In conclusion, our Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked me to convey his greetings, empathy and words of encouragement to the good people of Kaduna State. He urges us to remain patient, pray for our country and remain vigilant in our pursuit of Renewed Hope.

Thank you all for listening. God Bless Kaduna State. God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, CON, Kaduna, 16th February 2023

EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT SWEARS IN NEW JUDGES, ~ MANAGEMENT OF EBONYI STATE UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ALSO.

The Ebonyi State Government has sworn in the Chief Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Patrick Uhuo and six other new Judges into the State Judiciary. Also sworn in are the new Management of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo, with Professor Chigozie Ogbu as Vice-Chancellor and Professor Benedict Mbam as Provost respectively.

Governor David Nweze Umahi performed the swearing-in ceremonies at the Executive Council Chambers, Ochoudo Centenary City, Monday. Addressing the new Judges,  Governor Umahi congratulated them for making the list after rigorous processes and charged them to go about their duties with the fear of God. “First is to congratulate very highly the newly sworn-in Chief Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal. You have proven to be a very good man and I have no doubt in my doubt that you will continue on this path. “To the new Judges, I want to remark that this goes with commitment, so we commend you to God Almighty and congratulate each and every one of you.”

Earlier, the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Cletus Ofoke said the swearing-in of the Chief Judge Customary Court of Appeal and the six Judges of the High Court followed vacancy by retirement and death. In an acceptance Speech, the Chief Judge, of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Patrick Uhuo thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve in their capacities and pledged to discharge their duties with the fear of God.

The Governor also received two Babies: David Ugochukwu and Rachel Nweze who are the first and second Babies born in David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Uburu since its inception. The Governor prayed to God to bless their paths while growing up. “It is like harvesting the seed that we have jointly planted, we have a donation that we think should be able to take them through Primary and Secondary School.” The Governor in Exco also received a report from the Commission of Enquiry into the Ekoli /Amoso Edda Crises.

The Chairman of the Commission, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji said the Commission among other things recommended the reprimand of principal actors in the crises to avoid reoccurrence. Responding, Governor Umahi thanked the commission for a thorough job. He directed relevant Agencies to compile all data of Ebubeagu personnel so far killed in the State for necessary action. “We have so many killings of Ebubeagu, these are our brothers and sisters and they are being killed.

“One of the Gubernatorial Aspirants has boasted that he has entered into an agreement with a Judge and that this week Ebubeagu will be disbanded and the man who claims to have knowledge fails to know that Ebubeagu is the creation of the House of Assembly and so Ebubeagu has come to stay. “I have never sent Ebubeagu after anybody, I have always said that if any Ebubeagu personnel infringes on the right of anybody he should be prosecuted. Five of them are already being prosecuted. These people are not angels but their good side is greater than their bad. “The Attorney General and Ebonyians should keep an eye on those instigating the killings of Ebubeagu People.”

The Governor while announcing the setting up of a Review Committee to study the recommendations of the Commission for necessary implementation said the Exco-in-session has approved financial assistance to the APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Emegha to enable him to rebuild his houses gutted by fire during the crises in Ekoli Edda. The Governor also at the event received Master Chidiebere Nwigboji who emerged as the third Best  Student in Nigeria at the 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award recently as well as the three best-performed Students of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences Uburu.

NATIONAL BROADCAST BY HIS EXCELLENCY MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE CHALLENGES OF THE CURRENCY SWAP AND STATE OF THE NATION, ON 16th FEBRUARY, 2023

0
President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria
President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria

My Dear Compatriots,

I have found it necessary to address you today, on the state of the nation and to render an account of the efforts of our administration to sustain and strengthen our economy, enhance the fight against corruption and sustain our gains in the fight against terrorism and insecurity which has, undoubtedly, been impacted by several internal and external factors.

2.Particularly, I am addressing you, as your democratically elected President, to identify with you and express my sympathy, over the difficulties being experienced as we continue the implementation of new monetary policies, aimed at boosting our economy and tightening of the loopholes associated with money laundering.

3.Let me reassure Nigerians, that strengthening our economy, enhancing security and blockage leakages associated with illicit financial flows remain the top priority of our administration. And I shall remain committed to my oath of protecting and advancing the interest of Nigerians and the nation, at all times.

4.In the last quarter of 2022, I authorised the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to redesign the N200, N500, and N1000 Nigerian banknotes.

5.For a smooth transition, I similarly approved that the redesigned banknotes should circulate concurrently with the old banknotes, till 31 January 2023, before the old notes, cease to be legal tender.

6.In appreciation of the systemic and human difficulties encountered during implementation and in response to the appeal of all citizens, an extension of ten days was authorized till 10th February 2023 for the completion of the process. All these activities are being carried out within the ambit of the Constitution, the relevant law under the CBN Act 2007 and in line with global best practices.

7.Fellow citizens, while I seek your understanding and patience during this transient phase of implementation, I feel obliged to avail you a few critical points underpinning the policy decision. These include:

a. The need to restore the statutory ability of the CBN to keep firm control over the money in circulation. In 2015 when this administration commenced its first term, Currency-in-Circulation was only N1.4 trillion.

b. The proportion of currency outside banks grew from 78%in 2015 to 85% in 2022. As of October 2022, therefore, currency in circulation had risen to N3.23 trillion; out of which only N500 billion was within the Banking System while N2.7 trillion remained permanently outside the system; thereby distorting the financial policy and efficient management of inflation;

c. The huge volume of Bank Notes outside the banking system has proven to be practically unavailable for economic activities and by implication, retard the attainment of potential economic growth;

d. Economic growth projections make it imperative for government to aim at expanding financial inclusion in the country by reducing the number of the unbanked population; and

e. Given the prevailing security situation across the country, which keeps improving, it also becomes compelling for government to deepen its continuing support for security agencies to successfully combat banditry and ransom-taking in Nigeria

8. Notwithstanding the initial setbacks experienced, the evaluation and feedback mechanism set-up has revealed that gains have emerged from the policy initiative.

9.I have been reliably informed that since the commencement of this program, about N2.1 trillion out of the banknotes previously held outside the banking system, had been successfully retrieved.

10.This represents about 80% of such funds. In the short to medium and long terms, therefore, it is expected that there would be:

a. A strengthening of our macroeconomic parameters;

b. Reduction of broad money supply leading to a deceleration of the velocity of money in the economy which should result in less pressures on domestic prices;

c. Lowering of Inflation as a result of the accompanying decline in the money supply that will slow the pace of inflation;

d. Collapse of Illegal Economic Activities which would help to stem corruption and acquisition of money through illegal ways;

e. Exchange Rate stability;

f. Availability of Easy Loans and lowering of interest rates; and

g. Greater visibility and transparency of our financial actions translating to efficient enforcement of our anti-money laundering legislations.

11.I am not unaware of the obstacles placed on the path of innocent Nigerians by unscrupulous officials in the banking industry, entrusted with the process of implementation of the new monetary policy. I am deeply pained and sincerely sympathise with you all, over these unintended outcomes.

12.To stem this tide, I have directed the CBN to deploy all legitimate resources and legal means to ensure that our citizens are adequately educated on the policy; enjoy easy access to cash withdrawal through the availability of the appropriate amounts of currency; and ability to make deposits.

13.I have similarly directed that the CBN should intensify collaboration with anti-corruption agencies, so as to ensure that any institution or person(s) found to have impeded or sabotaged the implementation should be made to bear the full weight of the law.

14.During the extended phase of the deadline for currency swap, I listened to invaluable pieces of advice from well-meaning citizens and institutions across the nation.

15. I similarly consulted widely with representatives of the State Governors as well as the Council of State. Above all, as an administration that respects the rule of law, I have also noted that the subject matter is before the courts of our land and some pronouncements have been made.

16. To further ease the supply pressures, particularly to our citizens, I have given approval to the CBN that the old N200 bank notes be released back into circulation and that it should also be allowed to circulate as legal tender with the new N200, N500, and N1000 banknotes for 60 days from February 10, 2023, to April 10, 2023, when the old N200 notes cease to be legal tender.

17. In line with Section 20(3) of the CBN Act 2007, all existing old N1000 and N500 notes remain redeemable at the CBN and designated points.

18. Considering the health of our economy and the legacy we must bequeath to the next administration and future generations of Nigerians, I admonish every citizen to strive harder to make their deposits by taking advantage of the platforms and windows being provided by the CBN.

19. Let me assure Nigerians that our administration will continue to assess the implementation with a view to ensuring that Nigerians are not unnecessarily burdened. In this regard, the CBN shall ensure that new notes become more available and accessible to our citizens through the banks.

20. I wish to once more appeal for your understanding till we overcome this difficult transient phase within the shortest possible time.

21. Fellow citizens, on the 25th of February, 2023 the nation would be electing a new President and National Assembly members. I am aware that this new monetary policy has also contributed immensely to the minimization of the influence of money in politics.

22. This is a positive departure from the past and represents a bold legacy step by this administration, towards laying a strong foundation for free and fair elections.

23. I urge every citizen, therefore, to go out to vote for their candidates of choice without fear, because security shall be provided and your vote shall count.

24.I however admonish you to eschew violence and avoid actions capable of disrupting the electoral processes. I wish us all a successful General election.

Thank you for listening. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

UNITED BY THE SPIRIT AND THE WORD

…being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad (John 11:51-52)

The verses above bring to mind the words of Jesus in John 10:16. He said, “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” He made this statement in reference to the Jews and the Gentiles who would believe in Him. He was going to get all of them together as onefold to be their shepherd. Blessed be God!

How the Lord Jesus wants the Church to be one! He wants us to speak with one voice, to have the same vision, knowing that we have one Father and one Lord, Jesus Christ. Praying to the Father for all God’s children, He said, “… that they may be one, even as we are one” (John 17:22).

God’s dream is to gather His children together in the spirit of unity. Don’t mix this up with the One World Religion that elitist globalists are trying to set up. Understand that when God does something, Satan always wants to come up with counterfeits. God is gathering us together, not necessarily in the physical, but in our hearts—uniting us by the Spirit and the Word.

Today, many of us, God’s people around the world, think the same things about the Lord, love Him the same way with so much passion, preach the Gospel and win souls like never before. We love one another more, and understand better, the mystery of the Body of Christ in the unity of the spirit. This is God’s dream, and each one of us must strive for the unity of the Body of Christ.

Think about it: with so many of us working together from around the world, we’ve made God’s Word, through Rhapsody of Realities, available in every known living language in the world. We’ve been united by the Spirit for the same vision and by the same message.

Through the Holy Spirit, we understand and proclaim the same message. This will continue even in greater measure as the Church age comes to a close. Glory to God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the perfection and edification of the Body of Christ. Thank you for the insight you’ve given your children to understand and share the same message, as we fulfil your dream, and attain the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto the stature of the fulness of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

1 Corinthians 12:12-13 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Why Buhari’s Heart Is Neither With Tinubu Nor Atiku

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has been in the news lately, peddling all manners of allegations. The most glaring is that some close associates of President Muhammadu Buhari do not want the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu to win. However, while such an opinion may appear plausible, the messenger is notoriously suspect.

Anyone who has read the book, “Accidental Public Servant” by el-Rufai could reason that the man is a pestilent personality, pathological liar, ethnic bigot, ego maniac cum rabble-rouser. Any credible psychiatrist who takes a closer look at him could tell that he is a borderline mental case. In short, whatever he lacks in personality, he makes up for foolishness. If he is not threatening to send back foreign election watchers in body bags, he would be swearing that Peter Obi of the Labour Party could not draw a crowd of 200 people in Kaduna state. If he is not belittling the entire Nollywood movie industry, he is busy insulting the elders from entire Northern Nigeria.

What is more? The el-Rufai goes on to infer that Bola Tinubu is a crooked election rigger who has sustained power in Lagos by suppressing the state’s votes by terror. Yet, he is pushing the same man for the presidency of the entire of Nigeria. Worse still, Nasir el-Rufai continues to dissociate the ruling APC and Tinubu from Buhari’s policies. Yet, he is demanding the total support of the same Buhari for Tinubu.

This unstable character makes people view every claim by el-Rufai with a grain of salt. But the very same psychiatrist would profess that beyond the façade of any recurring madness lies a semblance of sense that still qualifies such an individual as a human being. The simple import is that we must not always wish away every rambling outburst from el-Rufai as senseless. This point is that the man probably knew what he was talking about when he stated on national television that Aso Rock elements are working against Tinubu. Also important, the Kaduna governor noted that the decision by the Buhari people to root against Tinubu is informed by the president’s commitment to do what is right.

After watching a clip of el-Rufai’s outburst on TV, I quickly placed a call to a confidant at the Aso Rock villa. The takeaway is that the charge by the Kaduna governor has a ring to it: There is a serious concern with the Tinubu candidacy within the Presidency. “Baba may appear to be supporting him because they are in the same party, but his heart tells him no.” Here are the reasons deduced from the conversation:

1.     Anti-Fulani Sentiments: A surprising concern is that Tinubu’s greed was responsible for the anti-Fulani sentiment that contributed to Buhari’s lack of popularity, particularly among the Southerners. There is a prevailing notion within the Villa that Tinubu has continued to play the victim in his relationship with Buhari, despite cornering most of the influential portfolios to his loyalists. This conflict with Tinubu, they claim, is what incited the Southern press against Buhari at an early stage of the administration and they never recovered. “Jagaban wanted more or less a co-presidency…As you may observe, he still refers to us as “they”… “He looks at us as people who owe him and do not want to hand him the presidency…Moreover, you ask yourself, why is a character like Fani-Kayode, an unapologetic Fulani basher, the face of the Tinubu campaign?”

2.     Tinubu’s Health: Buhari recognizes that the challenges associated with old age or ill health do not augur well with the demands of the president. He is worried that Tinubu’s public outings do not portray a man who is physically or mentally fit for the presidency.

3.     Corruption: President Buhari will forever be remembered with the quote: “If we do not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria.”  However, it has finally dawned on him that history will view him as a hypocrite if he has a hand in making Tinubu president. It would become the first time a man who is generally perceived to be very corrupt is sworn in as president of Nigeria. Take the 4th Republic, for instance. Like or hate them, from Olusegun Obasanjo, Umar Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, to Muhammadu Buhari; no one could label any of them corrupt at the time of swearing in 1999, 2007, 2010/2011, and 2015, respectively.

4.     Free and Fair Election: Tinubu was never Buhari’s candidate from the get-go. The president is aware that the former Lagos governor bought the presidential ticket, and he is counting on his financial power to win the general election. “The president is not happy about this, because he wants to be remembered like Jonathan for conducting free and fair elections. Now you see some APC governors want Buhari to extend the deadline for the old naira notes. Why do you think they are doing that? Jagaban is behind it all the way.”

Finally, there have been different reports, suggesting that Buhari sympathizes with the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. But my Aso Rock source quickly dispelled such rumour. Buhari sees Atiku with the same lens he sees Tinubu, especially with corruption, ill health, and old age. “Baba has relationships with both Jagaban and Atiku, quite alright, but he has a conscience. He wants to do the right thing. You may see more surprises before the election.”

Peter P-square and Seun Anikulapo Kuti

1
Peter P-square and Seun Anikulapo Kuti
Peter P-square and Seun Anikulapo Kuti

Those of you making the issue between Peter P-square and Seun Anikulapo Kuti about who is the better musician, are missing the point in its entirety. The musical prowess of the aforementioned two gentlemen is not the issue here, and neither is their family background.

The thrust of the controversy is that at a time over 200 million Nigerians are gearing up for a Make or Mar general election which has three main front-runners:

1. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a suspected international drug dealer whose real name, age, ancestry, academic record and family history are all shrouded in mystery

2. Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president whose entire public service record is enmeshed in gross allegations of corruption and selling of national assets to his cronies

And,

3. Mr Peter Obi, a former governor with a global reputation for prudence in managing public funds and who during his term in office, was no1 in MDG which is the only globally accepted measure of development, was no1 in education, was no1 in pulling people out of poverty, was one of the best in health, didn’t allocate a single land to himself, didn’t owe salary, contractor or supplier, but ended up saving 75 billion Naira which no other governor has done and above all, has never taken a kobo as gratuity or pension from the state he governed for 8 years;

Seun Kuti, who parades himself as a social justice activist, revolutionary and one who desires good governance, chose to attack candidate no3 (Obi) who is widely acknowledged as the cleanest, most competent and one with the best record. And this is even as the same Seun has never directly spoken against no1(Tinubu) but was known to have praised him at one time instead, for helping enthrone Muhammadu Buhari, a man whose 7+ years in power has brought the country to its knees.

This is the issue!

You cannot be praising a man like Tinubu for helping enthrone Buhari whom your own father, the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti warned us about in a series of songs, turning a blind eye to all the scandals associated with Tinubu while focusing your attacks on Mr. Obi who is rated the most competent amongst the presidential candidates and enjoys overwhelming supports from the youths, and expect right thinking members of the public not to question your credibility as an activist and the scion of the great Fela.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES – BUILD ACCORDING TO HIS DESCRIPTION, Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD DSc DD

0

…Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain (Hebrews 8:5 NIV)

When God told Moses to build a tabernacle, He gave him a clear description and instructed him to build according to the description: “According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it” (Exodus 25:9).

In your walk with the Lord and work in His Kingdom, don’t just run off with every idea just because you think it’s nice. Be sure that you’re following God’s blueprint; the pattern and description that He’s given. It’s one of the reasons you must know the Word for yourself.

In His Word, you find samples, patterns and descriptions of how He wants us to live, the things He wants us to do and how to do them. The psalmist said in Psalm 127:1, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it…”; we must build according to His plan.

In these last days, the Lord Jesus is building His Church. He said, “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). There’s a description given to us in the Word of God that shows how He’s doing this. The Bible says He (Christ Himself), “…gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Ephesians 4:11-12 NIV).

His plan is to build through these leaders, but everyone is involved; each one of us contributes to the building of this great body of Christ: “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love” (Ephesians 4:16).

Every time you lead someone to Christ, you’re adding to the building of the Body of Christ, and it’s a magnificent building. Hallelujah! Keep playing your role by winning souls into the Kingdom. You’ll be contributing to the building of the magnificent structure according to the description given.

Prayer

Dear Father, I thank you for the ability of your Word in my spirit. I’m a doer of the Word, not just a hearer. The results of living in and by the Word are evidently manifested in every area of my life today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study:

Hebrews 8:5 AMPC – “[But these offer] service [merely] as a pattern and as a foreshadowing of [what has its true existence and reality in] the heavenly sanctuary. For when Moses was about to erect the tabernacle, he was warned by God, saying, See to it that you make it all [exactly] according to the copy (the model) which was shown to you on the mountain.”

1 Samuel 15:22 – “And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

FG summons Finnish Ambassador over Simon Ekpa‘s threats to bar elections in South East

Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday summoned the Finnish Ambassador, over misinformation, disinformation, hate speech and incitive comments by a Nigerian-Finnish lawyer and Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, which many fear could derail the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections. At the meeting with the Finnish Ambassador to Nigeria, Leena Pylvanainen, Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama expressed displeasure over the orders given by Simon Ekpa to his teeming followers who consequently embarked on killings, maiming, burning and other destructive activities.

The Ekpa-led faction of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had reportedly declared that elections will not be allowed to hold in the South-East and had declared the period of the elections as sit-at-home. The minister who was represented by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada said Ekpa’s action is fast becoming a threat to the forthcoming election, and that the Federal Government would not take it lightly with him and the Finland government if nothing drastic is done. According to Dada, Simon Ekpa is living in the comfort of his home in Finland and dishing out dangerous orders to his followers not to allow elections to hold which is threatening the peace of south-eastern Nigeria.

“We thought it was important for us to have this chat with you to let you know that, of course, he’s living in the comfort of his home there in Finland and we know that we have been in touch with your good self,” Dada said. “We’ve had some time to ensure that we arrest this situation but it appears the situation is getting out of hand. And we’re saying enough is enough. We should let you know, in very strong terms that it’s high time you really mean and back Nigeria with the quest that something is done immediately because he threatens the forthcoming elections.

“The sad thing is that this gentleman has a lot of followers out there. And the moment he issues these instructions, what happens is that you have destruction the very next day. They embark on killings, maimings and burning and you name it. And we believe this is not acceptable. “It’s important to get to know that these elections are being threatened by the actions of someone and that something needs to be done immediately, to address the situation. This in essence is why we thought it was important for us to have this discussion with you, so as to let you know our concerns and the displeasure of the Government of Nigeria and the people of Nigeria on this very unhealthy development.”

Responding, Pylvanainen said that while they are watching to see how this fits into the legal framework of Finland, the personality in question is a double citizen and there is a need to take his rights into consideration. She described it as an irritant in the relations between Nigeria and Finland which are celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations this year. The Finnish envoy said it has been 60 years of excellent cooperation bilaterally and on international fora and they can not trade such for anything as the issue is such a serious concern to Finland and efforts are ongoing to address it. “This is something I want to make very, very clear. Finland condemns all violence and incitement to violence in all its forms. Political aims, of course, should be pursued through political means only. That is very clear,” she said.

“It stems from the fundamentals of our actions, it’s enshrined in our constitution, and we do really underline our support and the importance we see for these elections not only for Nigeria but for the entire region. So we’re with you very much on that. “We share very much the concerns regarding the security situation in the southeast? Yes, there are problems in other parts of the country as well. But this is an issue that we are directly concerned with. This is an issue we have been discussing, and we share our concerns. We have discussed the matter and as I mentioned, our law enforcement agencies are in touch and are cooperating. “We do have this irritant, as you call it on our bilateral agenda. And it is a topic on which we have been cooperating, our authorities have been cooperating, and there have been contacts between the law enforcement agencies of Nigeria and Finland on this topic.

“We’ve had several discussions here in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which we do appreciate very much because you said this is an issue of national concern to Nigeria nationally, but it is very much a concern for us as well. ”Finland of course, as a member of the EU has been part and parcel of these efforts. We have our own long-term observers on the ground at the moment. We are very much interested in the safe and secure conduct of these elections throughout the country. “Information has been shared, and we hope for more of that in order for all authorities to do their job and that is to investigate really what is going on and to see how this fits into the legal framework of Finland because we are of course speaking of a Finnish citizen.

“Also, he’s a double citizen as far as I know of Nigeria and Finland, and he’s therefore as you rightly said, protected and safe and sound in his home in Finland. But we have to take his rights into consideration as well. So everything has to obviously be done according to Finnish legislation, which has very strong protections for freedom of speech. “But of course, stipulations against hate speech and incitement to violence for us, the situation is really of concern on three accounts, even you could say it is of concern. Most of all, of course, on the ground in the Southeast, but also what we have seen over the recent weeks.”

TINUBU; THE FINAL PITCH

0
The APC presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The APC presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu

It is exactly 10(ten) days to the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria, and candidates, political parties, stakeholders and sundry other actors are putting finishing touches to campaigns, consultations and engagements, in the closing moments, before the actual ballots are cast.

Many Nigerians are (or appear to be) uninformed, underinformed, misinformed, or outrightly disinformed about the major Candidate in the presidential election; ASIWAJU Bola Ahmed TINUBU, more popularly called the JAGABAN…. the flag bearer of the ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC). Rather than ask, to know what he brings to the table, his unfriendly friends and outright detractors have twisted the narrative and made it look as if it was some kind of beauty contestation the candidates for the presidency of Nigeria In 2023 were vying for.

We shall proceed to adumbrate what a Tinubu presidency will portend for Nigeria, using his background as a parameter, to gauge what he has done, what he is capable of, and what we should look forward to, in his likely presidential dispensation. We SHALL use these broad parameters; A). Vision B). Capacity C). Track Record, D). Inclusion/Talent Hunting, E). Incentivization, F). Temperance/Accommodation, to continue this conversation.

Beginning from the first parameter, Vision, we are straight away taking a kaleidoscopic view of his occupation of the Governorship position of Lagos State, Nigeria, between May 1999, to June 2007.

A) VISION;

A very close associate of his, who is now the deputy governor of Lagos State Obafemi Hamzat, an engineer, recalled in a recent interview with Television Continental (TVC) that Tinubu had drawn up a massive and very detailed master plan, encompassing ALL sectors of the economy, including infrastructure, transportation, health, education, housing, communication, the financial sector(particularly revenue generation) and others, which he deployed to manage the State, during his very eventful dispensation as governor.

Besides drawing up that master plan, he had sized up Lagos, as a growing megalopolis, with the challenge of a sprawling waterfront and waterways to manage. He had therefore taken the trouble to seek out the iconic and celebrated father of modern Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, to inquire how he built Singapore, to make it possible for that hitherto backward country, to emerge (transform) from her Third World status, to be one of the go-to nations, rubbing shoulders with the technologically savvy nations, like Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the almighty USA.

It is disclosed that one of the most searching questions the Avatar asked Tinubu when he went on that pilgrimage, was about the sustainability of Tinubu’s proposed plans, as it related to his plans for succession (after he must have finished his tenure, or transited, even if in a permanent way). In fact, Lee Kwan Yew is said to have asked him; who will be your successors?

After that engagement in Singapore, to which he was accompanied by some of the government operatives who are even now, still functioning in some more advanced ways in the government of Lagos State and at the Federal level, Tinubu is said to have formed his governance teams, with an eye on the future, and posterity.

It was against that kind of background that Tinubu’s Lagos took off, in 1999.

In addition to the Singaporean expedition, the Jagaban is reported to have studied many contemporary and successful governance and development models, which were used as a canvas, to develop the new Lagos, whose development trajectory has been on the forward March siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiince.

B) CAPACITY;

Tinubu came into politics straight from ExxonMobil, where he served as Treasurer, for a good number of years, before resigning, to contest elections as Senator, for the Lagos Central senatorial district. That district is reported to be the biggest, most populous and most challenging electoral district, in the state. He is reported to have been directly involved in the planning and ideations, which led to the construction of Mobil House, the headquarters of THAT company, in Lagos, while he was in charge of the treasury.

His in-person testimonies indicate that purchases for the materials used in the construction project were made in such a way that the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP), which ensued immediately after the project commencement between 1983 and 1989, when the local Nigerian currency (the Naira) was devalued, had almost nil effect on the costs of the materials used to do that construction work, even as prices had doubled, and in some instances tripled during the period.

Having come into government as a Senator in 1992/93, the June 12 crisis shortly erupted, upon which his fidelity to democratic values and friendship, were severely tested. He evidently acquitted himself creditably. This phase of his life has been severally confessed to, by no less a personage than the Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka himself, as well as many notable Nigerians and nationals of other countries, who played some parts, in the epic struggle that ensued, to validate the mandate of Chief MKO Abiola(the winner of the June 12,1993 elections) who eventually died, to water the seeds of democracy that Nigerians now enjoy.

As a governor, he proceeded to run Lagos State, using technology that was at the time novel. Tinubu is reported to have been one of the first government operatives across the globe, to have engaged the services and technology of ORACLE, at a time(1999) and in a dispensation, when even the state of New York, had not understood, let alone take the risk to engage with the tech wonks. The subsequent digitization of the operations and machinery of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (Lagos IRS), saw the internal revenues generated by that State, take quantum leaps, from around N600million per annum, to over N24 billion before Tinubu left office.

C)  Track Records;

It was Tinubu’s Lagos State government that set up the legacy agencies that turned Lagos into a more liveable place. Lagos Transport Management Agency (LAMATA), Lagos State Environmental Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos Waste Disposal Agency… Etcetera were established during Tinubu’s time. The institution of the Lagos State Rails Transportation system was conceived by Tinubu. Today, THAT rail infrastructure is undergoing tests, and will soon become operative, and it is estimated that the rail system in just the first phase, will transport over 500,000(five hundred thousand) passengers daily, in comfort.

The Eko Atlantic City, which converted the misfortunes of annual over flooding, into fortunes for both the Aboriginal owners of that stretch of oceanfront, is now shared by even distant shareholders living in distant continents, countries and cities, and who may never have set foot in Lagos, save to invest their money into the futuristic investment, which has begun to yield returns already. In those projects, the original owners of the land were said to have been offered 5% in a going concern, that evidently has a bankable future, different from the wild and hopeless, and futureless landmass which these locations were, in the very recent past.

The same can be said for the Lekki Free Trade Zone, where the biggest refinery in Africa(Dangote Refinery), and the biggest fertilizer company in Nigeria (among other signature investments) are located.

D) INCLUSION/TALENT HUNTING;

No State government in Nigeria has been so far, reported to have engaged talent, like the Lagos State government under Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dispensation. Excellent and talented persons were engaged either directly by him in the cabinet, as Commissioners, Special Advisers or Special Assistants, or as civil servants, judges and other professional development areas. It is to his credit that from THAT government that he superintended, a vice president emerged, just as a speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, ministers, permanent secretaries, and many other leaders emerged.

In Tinubu’s Lagos, consultation with relevant stakeholders was a major feature of governance. For instance, the famous Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), was conceived, activated and instituted, comprising elders and notables from that state, who gave counsel to Tinubu, his successors and mentees, up to the present; men and women of intellect, wisdom, substance and depth. Little wonder that the puzzle of governance succession and regimes sustainability, which was the worry of Lee Kuan Yew, when his counsel was sought, has thus far been managed… seamlessly.

E) INCENTIVISATION;

Beginning from his tenure as governor, the Lagos State government is said to have instituted a dispensation where the health sector, the education sector, and other professional services delivery sectors, were INCENTIVIzed, such that people who offer professional services, were adequately remunerated. Salary increases almost always begin from Lagos, before other states copy the trend. Whenever and wherever a medical doctor resigns or disengages from service, he/she is replaced automatically. This feature is also said to be operative in the ministry of education.

F) TEMPERANCE/ACCOMMODATION;

Tinubu, a minority Muslim, from majority Christian Lagos State, is married to Oluremi, a Christian, a Pastor in one of Nigeria’s biggest Pentecostal denominations, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). She is a Senator of the Federal Republic. Tinubu has managed this marriage, without incident, for more than four decades.

His running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, is a Senator of the Federal Republic too. Incidentally, the government of Borno State, where SHETTIMA was governor for eight eventful years was one in which the inclusion of other Nigerians from different tribes, ethnicities and cultures, were actively sought out, to participate in governance, during Shettima’s tenure. Could Shettima have used a crystal ball, or Nostradamus’ binoculars, to gaze at the future?

Tinubu’s signature can be said to include; the deployment of relevant human resources, accommodation of contrary opinions, planning, implementation, monitoring and tolerance… dispositions anyone ascending to the Nigerian presidential office, sorely needs to have, in 2023 and going forward.

Lagos occupies just 0.4% of Nigeria’s landmass, but it caters to the needs of over 11% of Nigeria’s population, a situation that Tinubu inherited and was capable not only to manage but recorded remarkable improvements, which have been built on, by his successors since he exited the office of governor, in 2007.

THE NIGERIAN PRESIDENCY;

Many have raised issues about the fact that Tinubu is advanced in age, and therefore cannot perform the arduous duties required of an occupant of that office. To that question, many have offered reasonable explanations, to the effect that the job is not a 💯 meters dash, or a sapping lawn tennis duel, or a boxing or wrestling tournament, where participation is predicated on physical fitness of the musculature.

Our take on this issue is this; Governance is about ideas, experience and capacity, not about brute, physical force. Indeed in these kinds of matters, the older one gets, the soberer he/she becomes, and the more tempered, to be able to manage people and situations.

The question which naysayers must necessarily answer is; who among the other contenders, can match Tinubu’s track records, capacity, disposition and provable trajectories in public office and management of governance infrastructure?

Indeed, if not Tinubu, who else?

How a Pastor Stole a $25,000.00 Open Bank Cheque During Dinner in Member’s House?

0

A Successful Nigerian couple invited the Pastor of their Church for dinner in their home in California, United States of America. After the Pastor left, the couple realized their cheque had disappeared. The man said to his wife; “I think the Pastor has stolen the $25,000.00 open bank check that I kept here on the table of which I had the intention to give to him”.

Angrily his wife exclaimed; “Hmmmm! All of them are just the same. If they are not fake, they are thieves. There is no need to invite him again, we shall from henceforth be attending another Church”.

Two Months Later, the woman met the Pastor on a certain street and was courageous enough to face him and said: “Good morning Pastor, you have surely realised that we no longer attend Church, this is because we’re angry with you. The day you ate in our house, there was a $25,000.00 open bank check on the table but unfortunately it disappeared while we we’re eating. You were the only Person who visited our house at that time”.

The Pastor said to her, “Yes, I took the cheque. I put it in your Bible to avoid spilling the sauce on it”.

The woman got so confused and asked the Pastor to forgive her. Back in her house, she took up the Bible and found the bank check which had been there for two months. This meant that for two months, she had not opened her bible. For two months, she and her husband falsely accused the innocent Pastor. For two months, the incident had tortured them unnecessarily.

How many times do we suspect and accuse other people without reasonable proof, evidence or testimony? How many times do you wrongly give someone a bad name? How many times do you misinterpret the actions of a brother or sister that means well for you?

Lesson:

If you think your brother has offended you… tell him….ask him…iron it out….do not harbour a grudge or hold a beef for nothing. This is what we sometimes do to others on a daily basis God help us.

Rhapsody of Realities – RESULT ORIENTED PRAYER, Tuesday, February 14th, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD DSc DD

0

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God. (Hebrews 5:7 NLT)

The Lord Jesus is the perfect example of one who prayed result-oriented prayers. His prayers produced the right results always. He didn’t pray merely out of routine or as a religious obligation. His disciples noticed this about Him; they were intrigued by how effectual his prayers were; hence, they said to Him, “Master, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).

The astounding results that Jesus had while He walked the earth can’t be divorced from His ever-amazing prayer life. In Mark 1:35, the Bible tells us, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” In another instance, the Bible says, “…he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed” (Luke 5:16).

Luke also showed us that sometimes, Jesus went into the high hills to spend the entire night in prayer to God (Luke 6:12). He had such an effective prayer life and ever-amazing results! That’s the way it should be for us.

Spend time to pray in tongues often. Have a robust prayer schedule and discipline yourself to stick with it, and you’ll find yourself operating at a new level of spiritual maturity and efficiency. You’ll make tremendous progress and experience great success in all your affairs.

Recall what Jude 1:20 AMPC says, “But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit.” Praying in the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit will help you make remarkable progress, and cause you to rise like an edifice, higher and higher.

The more you pray in tongues, the more sensitive you are to the Spirit, to receive and follow His guidance. And with His guidance, you operate in dominion and triumph always. Hallelujah!

Confession

I’m victorious in all circumstances, walking in the blessings of the Lord because I live in the authority of the Word and in the Name of Jesus! I proclaim the favour of God and dominion of righteousness over all men, nations and their leaders, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

SIMON EKPA AS AN APC MERCENARY AND TINUBU THUG

Mr Simon Ekpa who lives in Finland leads a Biafra Guerrilla Warfare what has continuously been disrupting the peace in the SouthEast Region of Nigeria. He is alleged to be funded by Tinubu

If I had any confusion about the viral rumour that the APC might be bankrolling the criminal activities of Simon Ekpa and the hoodlums he commands to continue stirring chaos in the Southeast, hiding under Biafran secessionist struggle, the fact that the presidential campaign train of the All Progressives Congress is visiting Imo today, with President Buhari in tow, yet Simon Ekpa could not declare a sit-at-home like he is wont to, has cleared that confusion.

Many IPOB bloggers and independent social media users, sympathetic to IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu, had consistently accused Simon Ekpa of having entered into a contract with the APC to destabilise the Southeast and discourage as many voters as possible from coming out to exercise their franchise, but the elusive terrorist and his ragtag apostles have consistently debunked this as a lie. But, actions they say, speak louder than voice.

How do you explain a situation where a group that claims to be opposed to holding elections in the Southeast, would all keep quiet and allow their members to go about their businesses, when a campaign rally of the Party under whose watch their leader is detained indefinitely, even against court orders, yet, declare and enforce a totally unnecessary and traitorous sit-at-home every other Monday and on the election day?

Those who advance this theory of Simon Ekpa being a mercenary of the APC hinge their argument on the premise that reducing the total number of vote haul in the Southeast will be to the advantage of the APC because it would drastically reduce the votes of the Labour Party in what is seen by many as the biggest stronghold of the Labour Party presidential candidate. Going by the facts available, I will not dismiss this theory easily.

Nnamdi Kanu, who is the undisputed leader of the new generation Biafran secessionists, had on several occasions in the last few months, denounced any act of violence in any part of the Southeast and even abolished the sit-at-home orders, apparently, showing himself amenable to exploiting more peaceful and political strategies to resolving the impasse between the IPOB and the Buhari led Federal Government. Curiously, it was at this point that the Simon Ekpa group, otherwise known as the Autopilot faction of the IPOB, increased their violent attacks across the Southeast, grinding economic and social activities, and visiting much more terror on the people. While the recognised leadership of the IPOB has variously disclaimed any sit-at-home order during election days in the Southeast, the Simon Ekpa faction has been unyielding in its determination to stop Southeast voters from coming out to exercise their franchise.

Also, in recent weeks, there has been an increased spate of attacks targeted on LP officials and known sympathizers of the LP presidential candidate in the Southeast. As of the last count, at least two legislative candidates of the Labour Party have been killed and many supporters of the Party have come under different degrees of attacks. Those who perpetrate these attacks do not leave anyone guessing about what their intentions are; No Election.

There have been reports that security agents aid the success of sit-at-home orders in the Southeast. The people of the Southeast are ready to defy these orders if they are guaranteed of adequate security and safety, but there are reports that most police and Army checkpoints across the Southeast get deserted on any sit-at-home day. Of course, this wouldn’t have been so, if the personnel didn’t get orders from above to vacate the checkpoints. The Commander-in-Chief is the APC leader and has left no one in doubt about his preference for his Party to retain power at the centre. It will not be out of place to suspect that the insecurity in the Southeast is part of a voter suppression strategy designed and being implemented by the ruling Party.

Already, millions of eligible voters will not be casting their votes in the Southeast, while hundreds of thousands of new registrants might not have collected their PVCs. So, you could say that the scheme has succeeded in part, but, while the Southeast will not be able to vote as massively as they would have wanted for Peter Obi, other Nigerians will vote massively for him and Peter Obi will win the election. Those who designed this scheme made the mistake of thinking that Peter Obi is a Southeast project, but I believe they are already realising that the Labour Party presidential candidate is a nationwide hurricane and he will likely get more votes from other parts of Nigeria than he will in the Southeast, and this will make him a truly Nigerian President, and not a sectional leader.

NIGERIA SHALL PREVAIL!

CHARACTER ASSASSINATION… A Gift On A Lover’s Day

0

One mistake you should never make is to allow yourself to be recruited by someone, to hate another person who hasn’t wronged you. Hear this: “We must avoid taking hasty conclusions because of what others are saying about someone else”. What people say about others, says a lot about them. I am repeating this more directly: The things you say about others say a lot about you! I can tell a lot about a person by what they choose to see in others. Character assassination is a pervasive and destructive phenomenon that is found everywhere. You find it in families, churches, organizations, workplaces, etc.

Wikipedia defines Character assassination as the deliberate, malicious, unjustified and sustained effort to damage the reputation or credibility of an individual. Merriam-Webster defines it as the slandering of a person usually with the intention of destroying public confidence in that person. Athi Murugan defines “Character Assassination” as the act of lowering one’s character in a bid to ruin the character of others. There are people that take maximum delight in ruining others’ reputations. These set of people have what I will like to call ‘Destructive Tendencies’. They oil their own ego by pulling other people down. PhD (pull him down).

False allegations are the most chronic form of mental abuse. When people can’t kill your dreams and purpose, they will try to assassinate your character. There are some people that your spirit will always irritate their demons! Once they realize hating isn’t working they start telling and spreading lies about you. People are assassinated once but ‘Character Assassination’ kills daily! Character assassination is a form of emotional violence against others. Someone once said, “A friend of my enemy is my enemy.” One of the things that hinder us from living a fulfilling and inclusive life is bringing past biases and sentiments into present relationships. A friend of your enemy is not necessarily your enemy; it all depends on intentions and contributions. God can use your enemy’s friend to bless you!

Below are seven (7) critical ‘DON’Ts’ that you really need to guard yourself against. Refusing to get trapped in them will help you live a more productive, fulfilling and unbiased life. They are:

1. Don’t conclude about people because of what others say about them:

Never draw up conclusions based on what others tell you about someone. It is a lack of social intelligence that makes people draw conclusions about others based on what other people say about them. I know you’ve heard about emotional and financial intelligence, but there is something called social intelligence. This is the kind of intelligence that keeps you sane even when others are trying to pollute your mind against someone else until you have thoroughly confirmed the veracity of the claims before you. Judges are trained to have this kind of intelligence in order to avoid biased judgments.

2. Don’t inherit other people’s enemies:

It is a total lack of education and enlightenment when you automatically make your friend’s enemies your own. Don’t make people your enemies just because they are not on good terms with your friends.

3. Don’t use your children as weapons of war:

God can use your enemies to bless your children! The Bible says that your children are for signs and wonders. Stop using them to fight those you don’t like. Your children will need to discern their enemies for themselves; never use your parental influence to make your children hate others. You may often need to guard them with their choice of friends but never plant the seed of discord in the heart of your children against someone else.

4. Don’t gang up with others to hate someone:

Don’t join the majority to hate someone – you may realize that the person has no offence. Someone said, “If you don’t see it with your own eyes, or hear it with your own ears. Don’t invent it with your small mind and share it with your big mouth”. Never join the multitude to hate someone else. Stay away from people who talk bad about others daily; these kinds of people carry a negative spirit, and a negative spirit is contagious. The real problem is not that they are unhappy with others, but they are unhappy with themselves. It is not every battle that you must involve yourself in. Refuse to be used as weapons in other people’s battles. When people fight dirty, refuse to take sides. Observe deeply before concluding finally.

6. Don’t hate people just because they don’t behave like you:

That someone is not your tribe doesn’t make them your enemy. It is a waste of education if the only people you like are those that are like you. The greatest proof of our education is in how we respond to people whose opinions are different from ours. People who think their opinions are superior to others are most prone to overestimating their relevant knowledge and ignoring chances to learn more. The people who don’t think like you are your greatest source of enlightenment. It is normally people that are not like us that help us grow the most. Companies that had maximized growth are really those that value diversity and inclusion.

7. Don’t judge people until you know the whole story:

Someone once said, “Beware of the half-truth. You may have gotten hold of the wrong half”. Don’t judge other people’s choices without understanding their reasons. If people say something bad about you or judge you as if they know you, don’t easily get affected. Remember this, dogs bark if they don’t know the person. People who are intimidated by you talk about you with the hope that others won’t find you so appealing. Stay away from people who talk bad about others daily; these kinds of people carry a negative spirit, and a negative spirit is contagious. The real problem is not that they are unhappy with others, but they are unhappy with themselves. Stop the destructive habit of talking about people behind their backs. Talking badly about someone else while they aren’t there to defend themselves says more about you than the person you’re talking about. When you have issues with people, try and discuss them with them. Stop discussing it with others. Someone once said, “Don’t talk about me until you have talked to me”. Stop spreading false information and rumours about others.

Rumours are carried by haters, spread by fools and accepted by idiots! Stop creating walls of contention, rather help build bridges of understanding among people.

Happy Lover’s Day!

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEARING AND LISTENING TO OUR PRAYERS

God hears our prayers of course, but the question is, is He listening? And if He’s not listening, do we care enough to know why? Or do we tell ourselves that God is cool with our ways because He’s forgiven us our past, present and future sins in advance, if this is true, then why is there a plan for the judgement day?

The reason why it’s said that the talker will talk what he likes, and the doer will do what is on his mind, is because the doer is not listening to the talker. When you go to the market you hear the voices of many people but you’re not listening to any. The voice of God speaks to us every day, and we’re hearing Him but we’re not listening to Him. Parents are always talking to their children every day about staying away from trouble, they are hearing but not listening because it’s not what they want to hear.

Hearing the word of God and not obeying is because we’re not listening, in like manner, when you take the life of your fellow human being and was not found out, when you poison your legally married husband to enjoy his money with your lover, when you betray your business partner and cheat him out of his share, when you sleep with your brother’s wife and run away with her, when you lend your friend money and send boys to go and steal it from him, when you kill your father to take over his company, when someone does you good and you pay them with evil, when a country has taken the lives of many innocent people; and their blood are crying out to Him for justice against the people of that country, after you have done things in this manner and prays to God for His blessings, all your prayers will be like the sound of many noises in the market; which God will hear but not listen. Because a heard prayer is like a heard music you didn’t respond to by dancing to it, but a listened prayer is a settled prayer that’s responded to by action in favour of that prayer…

Psalm 39:12 says: “Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner like all my fathers.

Psalm 66 says:19 “But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.”

Hearing: Is the process, function, or power of perceiving sound; the special sense by which noises and tones are received as stimuli.

Listening: This is giving attention to a sound or action. When listening, a person hears what others are saying and tries to understand what it means.

The Bible prefers us to listen instead of hearing, that’s why the same Bible complains of only hearers who are not doers of the word because they are not listening, even though it says faith comes by hearing, but if we’re hearing and still faithless, it still means we’re not listening. As hearing and listening are two different things, hearing with our ears means it’s not blocked, but listening with our ears is the main purpose of creating it…

Acts 13:16 says; “Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen.”

Luke 10:16 says: “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

Proverbs 25:12 says: “Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.”

May we listen with our ears that can hear!

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES – Sunday, February 12th – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc., DD.

WE ALWAYS WIN

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place (2 Corinthians 2:14).

There’s a reason for the Church being the most persecuted of the demographics in the world: Satan is terrified of us; therefore, he’s making so much effort to cause fear in the hearts of many. But he’s a failure. The mighty things that are happening in, with and through the Church of Jesus Christ in our day are even about to be taken to a higher level.

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The word “Gates” is symbolic in prophetic language for “power and dominion.” The powers and dominion of hell shall not, and can never, prevail against the Church.

The Church, right from inception, has survived and endured many terrible persecutions, and will always outlive her enemies and detractors. That’s because the Word of God is clear: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:35-37).

The Church will always have the victory; it’ll crush every opposition and conquer everyone who ever stands against it. That’s the blessing upon the Church. The Holy Spirit is the Boss of the Church, and He’s God. He’s doing His work, and we’re labourers together with Him. It’s impossible for us to fail.

We won before we started; we’re just acting out the script that’s already been written. The Amplified version of our theme verse says, “But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory….” That’s what’s happening. We’re in a Holy Ghost victory parade. What you need is to stay focused on the work of the ministry, carrying it out with joy. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION:

Being born again, I belong to the Church, the body of Christ. Therefore, I’m indestructible; no matter what happens, I always win, because the Word puts me over and guarantees my victory. Greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world. I reign and rule with Christ, now and always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN 12TH FEBRUARY.

I affirm that life is not a mystery unto me! My understanding and perception of life are being reshaped by the Word. All things are mine because I’m the seed of Abraham, an heir of God, and a joint heir with Christ. I walk, conscious of my prosperity, health, and victory, for in Christ, I’ve obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His own will. And by Him, I reign, and rule in life!

Daily, my spirit is open to the leading and guidance of the Spirit. I am built up by the Word; God’s Word on my lips is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. They are faith-filled, transforming circumstances and changing situations to conform to the Father’s perfect will for me. I will never miss my way in life because my spiritual antenna is attuned to the right frequency. It doesn’t matter where or the situation I find myself in; I win always! I record great and notable achievements, enjoying my days in success, progress, peace, joy, and unending prosperity.

The glory of the Word is revealed and made manifest in my life, as it transforms me, causing God’s grace and peace to be multiplied in my life, bringing me favours and blessings. Hallelujah!

I am the offspring of the Word; therefore, the Word lightens my spirit, producing healing and health in my physical body. As I meditate on God’s Word, supernatural understanding floods my mind, causing me to live victoriously today and always. Glory to God!

Nigerian Christians are being prosecuted

0
Christian persecution in Northern Nigeria
Christian persecution in Northern Nigeria

While Nigerians and the world are still trying to understand what’s going on in Nigeria, Buhari and his Fulani kinsmen are already waging full scale war on Nigerians especially Christians in  the South having successfully dealt with their counterparts in the North. They are now shooting indiscriminately and maiming anybody that comes their ways.

Without mincing words, Christian’s are being prosecuted in Nigeria today like never before. From Southern Kaduna down to the Atlantic Ocean, it’s the same story. They have a plan. It is pure genocide and ethnic cleansing.

The world must pay attention to this. It’s no more joke! Fulani Herdsman and their armed bandits have turned Nigeria into another Afghanistan / Yemen. No part of the country is safe; from the the urban areas to the remote country sides.

Let the world understand that their silence means agreeing to these atrocities. Evil prevail when good men sit and do nothing. The world most powerful Leaders must act now. They must remember that the same way they looked the other side during the Biafran pogrom of 1966 – 1970 when over three million Biafrans were massacred, is the same thing they are doing now.

History will judge them harshly if the keep quiet now and allow Buhari and his kinsmen to successfully carry out their deadly islamization agenda in Nigeria. But must act on time, to stop Buhari otherwise history will never exonerate them from a wilful sin of omission for not stopping these murderers now before it’s too late.

The situation is escalating and this time it will be worse than imagined. If this is allowed to continue, it will result in mass exodus of Nigerians to the outside world; the number that the world has never seen.

Imagine the migration crises that will arise in the world from Africa to other ends of the earth, if Nigeria is plunged into a situation where between seventy to one hundred and twenty million out of over two hundred million Nigerians are forced to leave Nigeria to the outside world because of these Fulani terrorists? The world need to think deeply about this.

From the look of things, there’s no doubt Buhari and his folks have their master plan which is to islamise Nigeria at all cost even if it means to kill as many Christians as possible who refuse to convert to Islam.

Young Leah Sharibu is an excellent example who for over two years and running is being held against her wish by Boko Haram terrorists for not denouncing her faith in Christ and the government does nothing about it.

If this is not an islamization plan, can Buhari explain to Nigerians and the world, why his nomadic Fulani kinsmen freely parade the streets and bushes of Nigeria with AK-47 assault Rifles?

Where did they get such deadly weapons from if not aided and abetted by the powers that be? And who gave them the impetus to proudly display their weapons and use it at will while other Nigerians are not allowed to?

Their political wing Miyetti Allah openly threatens Nigerians and the Nigerian government on national television giving government ultimatum to implement their wishe and the government does nothing to stop them.

Meanwhile, ordinary Nigerians with government issued gun licences are banned from holding their licensed double barrel guns not to talk of displaying them in public as the privileged Fulani herdsmen do.

If President Obasanjo and many top Nigerians who have their loyal insiders in government are openly crying foul, brothers and sisters there’s serious fire on the mountain. It can no longer be business as usual. I truly pity any Southerner who is yet to grasp the magnitude of the calamity that has befallen us.

The threat is real and there’s no going back.

Segun Agbaje: Lagos INEC REC; a system-enabled election rigger?

Segun Agbaje- Lagos INEC REC was the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Osun State, who declared the election results of 22nd September 2018 inconclusive and created the controversy that paved way for the rerun of 27th September

Thief! Thief!! Thief!!! The shout rends the air, in the most unlikely place, the burial ceremony of an illustrious son of Ikirun where the atmosphere was expected to be solemn in honour of the one to whom all have come to pay there last respect! Who was the thief and what has he stolen?

It has been 4 years, 4 months and 18 days after the September 22, 2018 election believed to be a fraud against the people held in Osun. Segun Agbaje was the head of INEC in Osun, the umpire who enable the people’s empire to be raided by a gang of political robbers who have hardly won any election free, fair and square but ever having their way without the majority! A stolen mandate is a democratic abberation, where both the way of majority and the say of minority are captured for self profiting.

Agbaje was also in Ikirun to mourn with the people of the town over the passage of their sage, unknown to him the people were still mourning the assassination of their hope for a government of the people, by the people and for the people as the mob shouting “thief, thief, thief” will later allege him as being the remote control that made it happen in the public address of President Muhammadu Buhari’s report of Vice President Yemi Osibajo’s intervention as acting president while he was out of the country. This will remain one of his ugly moments ever as acting President.

Amid Accusation of INEC in Lagos by the public for demanding State-Owned identity cards before PVC registration and rejection of certain tribe for flimsy excuses without providing data not documents, this allegations seem to be true if the revelation of Segun Agbaje that Igbos are immigrants from the South Eastern part of Nigeria is anything to go by. Haba! How can the head of the umpire be the echo of the unreasonable voice of street touts against the Igbos. In Segun Agbaje’s mindset the Igbos aren’t citizens of Nigeria in Lagos, but immigrants who must be denied access to rights of citizens in Lagos. Segun has joined force with market touts and Area boys demanding that Alaba traders should return to Onitsha. It is dangerous and catastrophic for all Nigerians and political parties to fold their hands and allow the election in Lagos to go on under Segun Agbaje as the head of the umpire. If my suspicion about Agbaje is based on speculative journalism. Now that Agbaje has affirmed that INEC under him has no other option aside MC Oluomo led park management for movement of electoral materials what do you say to that? Same Oluomo who openly led a walk to endorse a particular candidate in the election that Agbaje has contacted out to him as the sole distributor of materials? If all the candidates in this election are sleeping, is Sowore also sleeping?

Who is Segun Agbaje? Is an amusement that nothing can be found on Oluwasegun Agbaje INEC REC in Lagos online, aside report of his activities in the news. Nothing on his profile on linkedin! Are you shocked and surprised like me, that INEC in 2023 is parading official whose profiles the world can’t access. Should will seat in the dark and expect electoral transparency from an organization whose staff the world doesn’t know who they are?

How was the remote control of 2018 inconclusive governorship election of Osun State made? His role in the inconclusive osun election was a tapestry of elections and the demonization of democracy. Been beaten black and a blue by angry Youths in Ikirun is a sign that the sleeping dog; the spirit of #EndSARS youths at Lekki Toll Gate mustn’t be woken for #Endelectoralfraud

Agbaje was the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Osun State, who declared the election results of 22nd September 2018 inconclusive and created the controversy that paved way for the rerun of 27th September. He was the one who announced Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola as the elected governor of Osun State against the general believe that Adeleke won that election. Failure to repremand characters like Agbaje and allowing mandate thieves to rule is the reason his proteges in Osun can provide 2 BVAS report to create the confusion that Judiciary will feast on, dashing the trust of the people in the BVAS. Osun is at it again four years after remote control election, there is an election after election, internally conducted by INEC after the people’s have made their choice. How many more Agbajes is Mahmood Yakubu keeping in the system for reasons only known to him.

Who was Segun Agbaje before he showed up at INEC? Segun must be over 70 years old now and has served in the civil service for well over 35 years. He must have joined the State Security Services (now Directorate of State Security) on graduation. By my assumption he must have graduated before 1980, if he join the public service in 1980 it means he has been in service for 43 years, 8 year over the retirement year of 35.

He worked his way up at SSS now DSS. Was Segun a system mole in NADECO or a NADECO mole in the system? His closeness with NADECO leading elements of that time necessitated my question? On which side was Agbaje at that time and on which side is Agbaje now? A REC of INEC serving National interest or a tribal man without tribal marks to wreck the nation to advance Yoruba desire for “awa lokan”?

At the time MKO was arrested in Lagos in 1993 he was the State Director of the SSS. He later served as Director in Oyo and other states before transferring to National Intelligence Agency as no 2. He was also there for many years until retirement during the Obasanjo regime. Only to show up suddenly like a big masquerade on market day again as an INEC REC. At what point did he join INEC? What was his age at the time of his engagement?

Check every state that has had embarrassing electoral controversy, his foot print of service there are indelible. Segun Agbaje is one of the most experienced intelligence officer in Nigeria alive today; is he planted in INEC? If your answer is yes, then what could be the mission of those who planted him in INEC? There are classmates of Agbaje who have served their 35 years in public service and have retired.

Many of whom have turned 70, a year and two ago. It’s public knowledge that dozens of those junior to him at SSS & INEC have long retired. Is he exempted from civil service rules regarding retirement? What uncommon skills does he possess that makes him a person of interest to some people in our electoral process? Until we learn to apply rules & regulations in an open playing field, Nigeria will always be in the doldrums. Now is the time to say enough his enough to Agbaje remaining in INEC!
