ROR – Your Name Is Important! Sunday, November 15th, 2020 – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD DSc DD

Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee (Genesis 17:5).

Whatever name you answer has a direct bearing on your destiny; your name gives meaning to your destiny. This explains why God changed the names of certain individuals in the Bible in line with their destinies in Him. A good example is Abraham, who was formerly named Abram. Abram meant exalted father or assumed father. In the process of time, he had no child, though many servants were born in his house.

But one day, the Lord spoke to him and said, “… behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee” (Genesis 17:4-5). Abraham believed God, and immediately started answering the name Abraham, “the father of many nations.”

Another important example is Jacob; he was named Jacob because at birth he held on to his brother’s heel. Jacob means swindler or deceiver; and true to his name, he deceitfully obtained his brother’s birthright, with the aid of his mother.

However, when he encountered the Lord and asked to be blessed, He wouldn’t bless him until his name was changed from Jacob (the deceiver) to Israel, a prince with God (Genesis 32:28); and his destiny was transformed for good.

Consider the Apostle Peter; before he came to Jesus, he answered the name, “Simon,” meaning a reed shaken by the wind, unstable. As Simon, he was inconsistent. But one day, Jesus said to him, “…thou art Peter, (Greek: Petros) and upon this rock (Greek: Petra) I will build my church…” (Matthew 16:18).

If the meaning of your name isn’t consistent with the Word of God, you’ve got to change it. It makes no difference that you’ve answered the name all your life; if its meaning isn’t consistent with the revelation of who you are in Christ, respond to God’s Word and change it as an act of faith.

Blessed Father, thank you for your Word that reveals my identity, inheritance and abilities in Christ! Your will for my life is unveiled to my spirit and I live daily to fulfil your will and purpose for my life, taking paths that you’ve preordained for me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Genesis 32:24-28
“And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”

Matthew 16:16-18
“And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar–jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

The blood of Jesus gives me remission, justification, redemption, access, fellowship, cleansing and the blessings of the New Testament. My understanding is enlightened today to comprehend and apprehend the glorious realities of my divine life in Christ. Daily, my bones, tendons, and ligaments wax stronger. I make progress and grow exceedingly in divine wisdom in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

You have been blessed today, now share this. Bless someone else.

I always win, because the Lord is in me and with me, through the Holy Spirit. His divine presence mantles me and fills me, transforming every fibre of my being and every bone of my body. I have the mindset of victory and I reign triumphantly over circumstances. I’m in the world at such a time as this, for the purpose of living the life that God prearranged for me before the foundation of the world. He planned that I’d serve Him and live for Him and that through me, His righteousness would be established in the earth, and in the hearts of men. I’m fulfilling this purpose daily, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the enlightenment of the Scriptures; I am informed with accurate and precise knowledge of the Word, which enables me to pray the right way. I declare that the nations of the world are coming to the knowledge of the glorious Gospel of Christ, delivering men from the power of darkness into their glorious inheritance in Christ. I am in God’s place for my life. I walk day after day by the light of God’s Word. I am not moved by the natural circumstances that exist in the world. God’s Word is the light by which I operate in my job, finances, family, and everything that concerns me. I am aware of God’s bountiful provisions for me, and I am enjoying them because I see by the greater light of His Word. I acknowledge the Holy Spirit as my helper, and the one I need to be an absolute success in life. Thank You for Your ability, strength, and wisdom mightily at work in me. Health, victory, strength, prosperity, and success are mine now and always, as You work in me, both to will, and to do of Your good pleasure, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

• Keep saying it, publish it everywhere; noise it abroad! In Christ, we’ve got something to shout about. Let’s flood the airwaves, internet, and print media with the reality of Christ.

Speak in other tongues now. ~ Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

I declare I’m an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ; all things are mine. I’m in my place of divine inheritance in Christ, and it’s a large place—a place of wealth— where I lack nothing. The Lord makes all things beautiful in His time and has perfected all that concerns me. I enjoy my days in prosperity and abundance as I fulfil my destiny in Christ. My path is as the shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. I flourish like the palm tree; I’m fruitful and productive. I grow like a cedar in Lebanon; majestic, stable, durable and incorruptible. I’m bearing fruits unto righteousness, established on the path of success and glory forevermore. The Word of God is in my heart and on my lips, producing results. I walk in peace, prosperity, divine health, protection, progress, supernatural success and blessings today and evermore. The eyes of my understanding are flooded with light, causing me to see the invisible, and energizing me for the impossible. My mind is anointed to see what the ordinary eyes can’t see. I see glory, victory and prosperity. I see beyond the walls and barriers. I testify of His mighty hand on my job, business, finances, ministry and every area of my life! I’ll shout it on the mountaintop, and sing His praises everywhere, for the Lord is good, and I’ll never be quiet about it. Praise God! The word is alive in me.

(Trust In God’s Faithfulness)

Hebrews 10:23 KJV
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”

The Lord Jesus, reflecting on the crises of these last days, warned that, “Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12 NASB).
Indeed, many are beginning to lose hope, wondering if God still cares and protects. Of course, He still cares for and protects His children! Psalm 91:3-8 attests to God’s sovereign commitment to protect and take care of you—even amid all the troubles and crises in the world!

It says, “Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of
the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.” How comforting this is!

Trust His Word. You’re shielded and divinely protected against the fierce attacks of the enemy, whether at night or in the day. Your faith-response, therefore, should be, “The Lord
is in me, with me, and for me; therefore, I refuse to fear!” No matter how adverse or severe the situation or the circumstances
around you might be, refuse to let your heart be troubled!

Keep your focus on God’s Word. He said in Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” Trust and hold on to His Word, for in it is your safety.
